Installation Guide
Follow these steps for a successful build:
1. Prepare the Case
Open both side panels. The left panel is tempered glass, secured by thumbscrews. The right panel provides access to the motherboard tray and cable management space.
Description of front panel: The front of the case features a large mesh section for optimal airflow, with the Antec logo subtly placed. The top edge of the front panel houses the I/O ports.
Description of top panel: The top panel is typically flat, often with magnetic dust filters, and supports fan or radiator mounting.
Description of rear panel: The rear offers standard motherboard I/O cutouts, expansion slots, and a mounting point for the power supply unit.
2. Install Motherboard
Place standoffs into the motherboard tray according to your motherboard's form factor. Carefully align the motherboard with the standoffs and secure it with screws.
3. Install CPU Cooler
If using an aftermarket CPU cooler, install its mounting bracket onto the motherboard before placing the motherboard in the case, or ensure sufficient clearance for installation after.
Note on CPU Cooler Clearance: The case supports CPU coolers up to 175mm in height.
4. Install Graphics Card (GPU)
Remove the appropriate expansion slot covers from the rear of the case. Align the GPU with the PCIe slot on the motherboard and press firmly until it clicks into place. Secure the GPU bracket to the case with screws.
Note on GPU Clearance: The case supports graphics cards up to 400mm in length.
5. Install Power Supply Unit (PSU)
Mount the PSU in its designated bay at the bottom rear of the case. Ensure the fan is oriented correctly for airflow (typically facing down if there's a bottom filter, or up if not).
6. Install Storage Drives
Mount 3.5" HDDs in the drive cages (usually located near the PSU) and 2.5" SSDs on dedicated mounting points on the motherboard tray or behind it.
7. Connect Front Panel Cables
Connect the small cables from the front panel (power button, reset button, USB, audio, LEDs) to the corresponding headers on the motherboard. Refer to your motherboard manual for precise header locations.
8. Install Fans and Radiators
Mount fans and radiators in the designated locations (front, top, rear, bottom) as per the cooling support specifications. Ensure correct airflow direction.
Description of ARGB Fans: If included, ARGB fans have separate cables for power (PWM) and lighting (ARGB). Connect the PWM cable to a CPU_FAN or SYS_FAN header and the ARGB cable to a motherboard's ARGB header or a dedicated controller.
9. Cable Management
Route all cables neatly behind the motherboard tray and through designated cutouts. Use the included Velcro straps or zip ties to secure cables for a clean interior and improved airflow.
10. Final Checks
Double-check all connections and ensure all components are securely installed. Reattach the side panels.
ARGB Lighting Control
The Antec C8 ARGB case features integrated ARGB lighting. Control can typically be achieved in two ways:
- Motherboard Sync: Connect the ARGB cables from the case's lighting components (fans, strips) to the corresponding 3-pin 5V ARGB headers on your motherboard. Use your motherboard's RGB software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, Gigabyte RGB Fusion) to customize colors and effects.
- Included Controller (if applicable): Some cases include a dedicated ARGB controller. Connect the case's ARGB cables to this controller, and power the controller via SATA. Control may be via a physical button on the case or a remote.
Note: Ensure you connect the ARGB cables to 5V ARGB headers, not 12V RGB headers, to avoid damaging the LEDs.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
No Power: Ensure the PSU switch is on and the power cable is securely connected to both the PSU and the wall outlet. Verify the case's front panel power button cable is correctly connected to the motherboard.
Overheating: Check that all fans are spinning and oriented correctly for airflow. Ensure no cables are obstructing fan blades. Clean dust filters regularly.
ARGB Issues: Verify ARGB cables are connected to the correct headers (5V ARGB). Ensure motherboard software is up-to-date.
Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior. For the tempered glass panel, use a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
