Overview
The device features a display, control buttons, and a laser emitter. Key areas include: Display, On/Measure/Tracking button, Area/Volume/Pythagoras/Min/Max Tracking button, Clear/Off button, and Measuring reference/Unit indicator.
Instrument Set-up
Display Elements
The display shows Battery status, Area/Volume mode, Measuring reference point (front or rear of device), Info messages, Min/Max tracking status, Measurement units, and the Main measurement line.
Inserting Batteries
To ensure reliable use, do not use zinc-carbon batteries. Change batteries when the battery symbol is flashing. The device uses 2 x AAA batteries.
Operations
Switching ON/OFF
Press the 'Clear/Off' button for 2 seconds to turn the device ON or OFF.
Clear / Undo Last Action
Press the 'Clear' button once to undo the last action. Press it twice to leave the current function and return to the default operation mode.
Message Codes
If the 'Info' icon appears with a number, refer to the "Message Codes" section for details. For example, code 256 indicates a received signal that is too high, suggesting changing the target surface (e.g., to white paper).
Adjusting Measuring Reference
The measuring reference can be set to the front of the device (default) or the rear. When set to the front, the next distance is measured from the front. When set to the rear, it's measured from the rear.
Distance Unit Setting
Press and hold the 'Clear/Off' button for 2 seconds to switch between units such as meters (m), feet (ft), inches (in), and feet/inches with fractions.
Beep ON/OFF
Press and hold the 'On/Measure/Tracking' and 'Clear/Off' buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds to toggle the beep function ON or OFF.
Measuring Functions
Measuring Single Distance
Aim the active laser at the target and press the 'On/Measure/Tracking' button. The measured distance is displayed.
Permanent Measuring (Tracking)
Aim the active laser at the target. Press and hold the 'On/Measure/Tracking' button for 2 seconds. The device continuously measures and displays the distance. Press the button again to stop.
Area Measurement
Press the 'Area/Volume/Pythagoras/Min/Max Tracking' button once (1x) to select Area mode. Aim the laser at the first target point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. Aim at the second target point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. The result is shown in the main line and the measured value above.
Volume Measurement
Press the 'Area/Volume/Pythagoras/Min/Max Tracking' button twice (2x) to select Volume mode. Aim at the first target point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. Aim at the second target point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. Aim at the third target point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. The result is shown in the main line and the measured value above.
Pythagoras (2-point)
Press the 'Area/Volume/Pythagoras/Min/Max Tracking' button three times (3x) to select 2-point Pythagoras mode. Aim at the upper point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. Aim at the lower point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. The result is displayed. Pressing the measuring key for 2 seconds activates automatic Minimum or Maximum measurement.
Pythagoras (3-point)
Press the 'Area/Volume/Pythagoras/Min/Max Tracking' button four times (4x) to select 3-point Pythagoras mode. Aim at the upper point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. Aim at the rectangular point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. Aim at the lower point, press 'On/Measure/Tracking'. The result is displayed. Pressing the measuring key for 2 seconds activates automatic Minimum or Maximum measurement.
Minimum Tracking
Press the 'Area/Volume/Pythagoras/Min/Max Tracking' button five times (5x) to select Minimum Tracking. Aim the laser at the target. Press and hold the 'On/Measure/Tracking' button for 2 seconds. The device tracks the minimum distance measured. The current measured value and minimum distance are displayed.
Maximum Tracking
Press the 'Area/Volume/Pythagoras/Min/Max Tracking' button six times (6x) to select Maximum Tracking. Aim the laser at the target. Press and hold the 'On/Measure/Tracking' button for 2 seconds. The device tracks the maximum distance measured. The current measured value and maximum distance are displayed.
Note: Min/max measurement is also available for Pythagoras calculations.
