IKEA KILSVIKEN Sink Installation Guide
Important Notes Before You Begin
This guide provides instructions for installing the KILSVIKEN sink. Please read all steps carefully before starting.
Important: Silicone sealant, screws, and mounting fittings for securing the sink to the countertop or the unit to the wall/ceiling are not included with this product. You must purchase these separately. Ensure you select screws and fittings appropriate for your specific wall and ceiling materials and that they have sufficient load-bearing capacity. If you are uncertain, consult a local specialist dealer.
Follow the installation instructions supplied with your mixer tap and water-trap.
Tools Required
- Screwdrivers (various types)
- File
- Ruler
- Hammer
- Jigsaw
- Caulking gun
- Drill with a 35 mm (1 3/8") drill bit
Preparation and Countertop Cutting
- Step 1: Place the provided template (if applicable, or use sink dimensions) onto the countertop where the sink will be installed.
- Step 2: Trace the outline of the sink onto the countertop. Mark the positions for drilling pilot holes and mounting clips.
- Step 3: Drill pilot holes as marked. Ensure a 35 mm (1 3/8") diameter hole is created for the mixer tap or other necessary fittings.
- Step 4: Drill holes for the mounting clips that will secure the sink to the countertop.
- Step 5: Use a jigsaw to carefully cut out the sink opening along the traced line.
Sink Installation
- Step 6: Apply a continuous bead of silicone sealant along the cut edges of the countertop opening. Also, apply sealant around the underside rim of the sink where it will meet the countertop. This is crucial to prevent water from penetrating between the countertop and the sink.
- Step 7: Carefully lower the KILSVIKEN sink into the prepared opening in the countertop.
- Step 8: From underneath, secure the sink to the countertop using the provided mounting clips. Ensure each clip engages firmly, often indicated by a "click" sound. (Note: Different clip sizes may be provided to accommodate various countertop thicknesses).
- Step 9: Assemble and install the drain and overflow components into the sink basin as per their specific instructions.
- Step 10: Carefully position the sink unit into the kitchen cabinet structure.
- Step 11: Finalize the sink's secure mounting by tightening all the mounting clips.
- Step 12: Apply a final bead of silicone sealant around the gap between the sink rim and the countertop to create a watertight seal. Smooth the sealant for a clean finish.
