BEGA 51132 Wall Luminaire for Indoor Use

Model: 51132

Application and Design

This is a closed and unshielded wall luminaire designed for indoor use. It features a hand-blown opal glass shade with a satin matt finish and a metal fitting. The soft, flowing shape of the glass allows for the creation of unique, seemingly random wall arrangements when combined with other luminaires from the same series. The luminaire glass can be rotated on the fitting.

Product Description

The luminaire features a metal mounting plate with a white finish. It incorporates the Lichtbaustein® PEBBLES Type B and a hand-blown, satin matt opal glass. The mounting plate has two holes for fixing, spaced 230 mm apart, each with a diameter of 5.5 mm (Ø 5.5 mm). Two cable entries are provided for through-wiring of the connection cable, accommodating cables up to 10.5 mm in diameter (max. 5 x 1.5 mm²). It includes a 2.5 mm² connection terminal and an earth conductor connection.

The luminaire complies with flicker requirements according to IEEE 1789, DIN IEC/TR 63158, and DIN IEC/TR 61547-1. It is equipped with an LED power supply unit (220-240 V~ 0/50-60 Hz) and is DALI-controllable with one DALI address. Basic insulation is present between the mains and control cables. The BEGA Thermal Control® system provides temporary thermal regulation of the luminaire's output to protect temperature-sensitive components without switching off the luminaire. It is classified as Safety Class I, has an impact resistance of IK04 (protection against mechanical impacts < 0.5 joule), bears the CE conformity mark, weighs 3.7 kg, and contains light sources of energy efficiency classes D and E.

Safety and Installation Precautions

National safety regulations must be observed for the installation and operation of this luminaire. Installation and commissioning must only be performed by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper use or installation. If modifications are made to the luminaire after installation, the person making these modifications is considered the manufacturer.

LED Handling: LEDs are high-quality electronic components; avoid touching the LED light output opening directly during installation or relamping.

Overvoltage Protection

The luminaire's electronic components are protected against overvoltage according to DIN EN 61547. For enhanced protection, particularly against transients, BEGA recommends separate overvoltage protection components, available on their website at www.bega.com.

Installation Guide

Step 1: Cable Entry

Lead the mains supply cable through the cable entry into the luminaire housing.

Step 2: Mounting

Secure the luminaire fitting to the installation surface using the provided or suitable fixing materials. Ensure gasket rings are used.

Step 3: Electrical Connection

Establish the earth conductor connection and make the electrical connection to the terminals.

Step 4: Digital Control (DALI)

For digital control, use the DA, DA terminal. If this terminal is not used, the luminaire operates at full light output.

Glass Attachment and Adjustment

Attaching the Glass: Position the glass over the luminaire fitting so the retaining spring fits into the recess of the glass's raised edge. Press the glass against the retaining spring at a flat angle until it stops, then push it into the luminaire fitting. Gentle pressure secures the glass via two opposing lobes.

Securing the Glass: Screw the grub screw (hexagon socket head wrench size 2.5) with gentle pressure against the retaining spring. This holds the glass securely and vibration-free.

Adjusting Glass Orientation: To change the orientation of the rotatable glass, loosen the grub screw. After adjusting, re-tighten the grub screw with gentle pressure against the retaining spring.

Opening the Luminaire

Unscrew the grub screw (Allen screw) of the glass retaining spring of the luminaire fitting completely. Press the luminaire glass against the spring pressure to pivot it out of the luminaire fitting.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean the luminaire regularly with dirt-free, solvent-free cleaning agents. A damaged glass must be replaced.

LED Unit Replacement

The designation of the LED unit is noted on a label inside the luminaire. BEGA replacement units match the original light color and output. Replacement can be done by qualified persons using standard tools.

Procedure: Disconnect power, open the luminaire, replace the LED unit, and close the luminaire. A damaged glass must be replaced.
