BIOS Setup

BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) records system hardware parameters in the motherboard's CMOS. It identifies, configures, and connects hardware to the OS upon startup. Key functions include Power-On Self-Test (POST), saving system parameters, and loading the operating system. The BIOS Setup program allows modification of basic system configuration settings.

When the computer is off, the motherboard battery powers the CMOS to retain configuration values.

Important: BIOS flashing carries risks. It is recommended not to flash the BIOS unless encountering issues. If flashing, do so with caution, as inadequate flashing can lead to system malfunction.

The default BIOS settings provide optimal performance and stability. Altering them without necessity may cause system instability or boot failures.

Important: BIOS items are updated for performance. Descriptions are for reference only and may differ slightly from the latest BIOS.

Enter BIOS Setup

To enter BIOS Setup:

  1. When the computer starts up, it enters a self-test process.
  2. After the self-test completes, a message like "Press DEL key to enter Setup Menu" will appear.
  3. Press the DEL key to enter the BIOS setup.

If the message disappears before you press DEL, restart the computer by turning it off and on, pressing the Reset button, or pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

It is recommended to repeatedly press the DEL key immediately after starting the computer to ensure entry into BIOS mode.

Current Version Screenshot: A screenshot shows the Aptio Setup Utility interface with system information like BIOS Vendor, Core Version, Board Name, BIOS Version, Memory Information, System Date, and Time.

Important: Functions may vary depending on the product.

Reset BIOS

To restore default BIOS settings:

Important: Ensure the computer is off before clearing CMOS data. Refer to the Clear CMOS jumper section for details.
