Kwik Performance K10700 A/C Bracket Installation Instructions

This document provides installation instructions for the Kwik Performance K10700 A/C Bracket, designed for LS truck engines and LS3 Camaro engines.

• Sanden AC "mini" compressor SD7B10, model 7176

Engine Attachment Points

Truck engine attachment points

Bracket attaches to truck engine using these 3 threaded holes in the head.

Camaro engine attachment points

Bracket attaches to Camaro engine using these two threaded holes in the head and one threaded hole in the water pump.

Note: Camaro engine cover will require some trimming to clear the compressor.

Note: This boss on the Camaro thermostat housing must be removed for tensioner clearance.

Installation Steps

Step 1a: Truck water pump

Bolt bracket to passenger side head. Leave bolts loose.

Two upper M10x140mm bolts screw into head on both the truck and Camaro engines.

Note: This long 3/4" OD tube and 140mm bolt is used with truck water pump. Bolt screws into head. Do not use with 2010+ Camaro water pump.

Step 1b: Camaro water pump

Bolt bracket to passenger side head and water pump. Leave bolts loose.

Two upper M10x140mm bolts screw into head on both the truck and Camaro engines.

Note: This short tube and 40mm bolt is used with LS3 Camaro water pump. Bolt screws into water pump. Do not use with truck water pump.

Note: Two short tubes are supplied: The 3/4" OD tube is for GM water pump only. The 1" OD tube (slightly longer) is for Gates water pump only. Choose the appropriate diameter tube.

Step 2: Attach Compressor

Attach Sanden SD7B10, model 7176 mini-compressor. Do not use Sanden 508 style compressor.

M8x25mm bolts screw into compressor.

M8x40mm bolt and nut attach rear boss of compressor to rear plate.

Note: Bushing in rear AC mounting boss should line up with the rear plate of the bracket. If it does not, push the bushing in or out as required to prevent excessive bending of the rear plate.

Step 3: Tighten Bolts

1. Lift up on the compressor to take the weight off the bolts while snugging the bracket and compressor in place.
2. Tighten the 2 upper head bolts.
3. Tighten either the third head bolt (truck engine) or the water pump bolt (Camaro engine).
4. Let go of the compressor and let it rest in the bracket.
5. Tighten the 2 front compressor bolts.
6. Tighten the rear compressor bolt.
7. Torque 10mm bolts to 37 ft-lbs.
8. Torque 8mm bolts to 15 ft-lbs.

Step 4: Attach Tensioner

Attach tensioner with M10x140mm bolt and 10mm nut. Tighten to 37 ft-lbs.

Note: Temporarily install M10x140mm bolt and 1" OD x 2-5/8" tube until ready to install tensioner (step 4). This holds the tube in place.

Step 5: Install Belt

See page 1 for belt length recommendations.

Note: For best performance and longest life, the belt lengths suggested by Kwik Performance are the shortest belt that can be reasonably installed.

We recommend the following procedure:

1. When installing the serpentine belt, place the belt around all pulleys as shown in the diagrams except for the idler pulley (truck engine) or water pump pulley (Camaro engine).
2. Check to make sure that the belt is seated all the way in the grooves of each grooved pulley.
3. Retract the tensioner all the way and slip the belt onto the idler pulley or water pump pulley.
4. Release the tensioner.
