Bosch Dishwasher SMS45NI00Z Quick Start Guide
This guide provides essential information for the initial use and basic operation of your Bosch dishwasher.
How it Works
Follow these steps for operating your dishwasher:
- Load the dishwasher. Ensure only dishwasher-safe items are loaded. Remove large food debris. Make sure the spray arms can rotate freely.
- Add detergent.
- Switch on the appliance (1).
- Set the program.
- Start the program (Start).
- After the program finishes, unload the dishes.
- To cancel a program, press Reset for approximately 4 seconds. The program will be cancelled and will finish after about 1 minute.
Filling with Special Salt
To prevent damage to the dishwasher, only fill the special salt dispenser before starting a program.
- Open and remove the lid of the special salt dispenser.
- For the first use: Fill the dispenser with water until it is full.
- Fill the special salt dispenser. The water in the dispenser will be pushed out and flow out. Never fill the dispenser with detergent.
- Place the lid back on the dispenser and turn it until it closes.
Filling with Rinse Aid
The rinse aid indicator will alert you when refilling is needed.
- Press the bracket on the rinse aid dispenser lid and lift it up (arrow).
- Add rinse aid up to the maximum mark.
- Close the rinse aid dispenser lid. You will hear a click when the lid locks.
Filling with Detergent
Use only dry detergent in the detergent compartment.
- Fill the detergent into the dry detergent compartment.
- Close the detergent compartment lid. You will hear a click when the lid locks.
Setting the Water Softening System
Adjust the water hardness level according to your local water supply.
- Press (1).
- Press and hold (2).
- Turn the program selector until the display shows H:xx.
- Release the button.
- Turn the program selector until the desired level is set.
- To save the setting, press (3) for 3 seconds.
Program Data
Program data is determined in accredited laboratories in accordance with European standard EN 60436. Consumption values depend on the program and additional functions selected. If the rinse aid system is deactivated or rinse aid is not added, the duration will change.

Cleaning the Filter
Check the filters after each wash for any blockages.
- Turn the coarse filter counterclockwise (circular arrow) and remove the filter system (1).
- Pull the microfilter down.
- Press the retaining tabs (circular arrow) and remove the coarse filter upwards (circular arrow).
- Clean the filter elements under running water.
- Re-install the filter system.
- Insert the filter system into the appliance and turn the coarse filter clockwise. Ensure the arrows align.
Cleaning the Spray Arms
Ensure the spray arms are free from obstructions.
- Remove the upper spray arm by pulling it down (circular arrow).
- Pull the lower spray arm upwards.
- Check the nozzle outlets of the spray arms for blockages under running water and remove any foreign objects.
- Re-install the lower spray arm. You will hear it click into place.
- Re-install and tighten the upper spray arm.
Cleaning the Drain Pump
Regular cleaning of the drain pump prevents issues.
- Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
- Remove the filter system.
- Drain any existing water.
- Use the handle of a spoon to lever open the pump cover and hook it onto the retaining lug.
- Tilt the pump cover inwards and remove it.
- Remove any food debris and foreign objects from the impeller area.
- Install the pump cover (circular arrow) and press it down (circular arrow). You will hear it click into place.
- Re-install the filter system.
Troubleshooting
