General Information

Purpose of this manual

This manual is an integral part of the machine and provides all the information required by operators. It defines the purpose for which the machine has been designed and constructed.

! DANGER indicates the need for attention to avoid consequences which could cause death or serious injury to personnel.

! WARNING indicates the need for attention to avoid consequences which could cause damage to the machine or work environment or financial loss.

! INFORMATION indicates very important instructions.

The Manufacturer reserves the right to make modifications without prior notice.

General description

This machine is a scrubber drier for washing and drying flat, horizontal, smooth or moderately rough, even and obstacle-free floors in civil and industrial premises. The machine spreads a solution of water and detergent, scrubs the floor, and then dries it using a suction system. The squeegee collects the dirty water.

Movement and Installation

Lifting and transporting the packaged machine

Ensure the machine is securely fastened during lifting to avoid tipping or accidental dropping. Always load/unload in well-lit areas.

The machine is packaged on a wooden pallet and must be loaded/unloaded using suitable equipment, such as a forklift truck. Handle with care to avoid knocking or overturning.

Delivery checks

When the carrier delivers the machine, check that the packaging and machine are undamaged. If damaged, inform the carrier and reserve the right to request compensation.

Unpacking

Operators must use personal protection devices (gloves, goggles, etc.) during unpacking.

  1. Cut and remove plastic straps.
  2. Remove cardboard packaging.
  3. Remove bags from the battery compartment and check contents (Operator's Manual, maintenance manual, declaration of conformity, warranty certificate, battery bridges, charger connector, electronic keys).
  4. Remove metal brackets securing the front wheels and chassis.
  5. Using a sloping ramp, push the machine backwards off the pallet.
  6. Unpack the brushes.
  7. Clean the machine exterior.
  8. Install the batteries (see "Batteries: installation and connection").

The packaging can be kept for reuse or disposed of according to current legislation.

Batteries (Battery version)

Two types of batteries may be installed: Leak-proof tubular batteries (WET) and Gel or AGM batteries. WET batteries require regular checks of the electrolyte level.

Battery technical characteristics must correspond to those listed in the Technical characteristics section.

Batteries must be kept charged, dry, and clean, with tight connections.

In the unlikely event of fluid leaking from a battery:

Do not use NON-rechargeable batteries.

Follow instructions to configure the machine's software for the installed batteries (see "Technical menu section").

Batteries: preparation

Installation and connection/removal of batteries must be carried out by an IPC-approved technician.

During battery installation or maintenance, technicians must use personal protection devices and keep away from naked flames, avoid short circuits, sparks, and smoking.

Batteries (WET) are usually supplied filled with acid. If dry, fill elements with sulphuric acid solution until plates are covered, wait 4-5 hours, check level, and close caps. Install batteries and charge before first use.

Batteries: installation and connection

Remove the electronic key before installing/connecting batteries. Connect terminals marked '+' to positive poles. Do not check charge by sparking. Short-circuiting batteries can cause explosions.

Ensure the machine is on a horizontal surface. Connect wiring terminals to battery poles, tighten, and coat with vaseline. Lower the tank.

Never allow batteries to become excessively flat.

Batteries: removal

Ensure the machine is on a horizontal surface. Remove the electronic key. Ensure the battery charger is unplugged.

Technicians must use personal protection devices. Ensure switches are OFF and the machine is turned off. Keep away from naked flames, avoid short circuits, sparks, and smoking.

  1. Disconnect battery cables.
  2. Remove devices fixing the battery.
  3. Lift batteries using suitable lifting equipment.

Squeegee Installation and Adjustment

Lower the squeegee using the lever. Lift fastening levers, insert squeegee into slots, lower levers, and insert suction hose.

Squeegee adjustment

Squeegee blades scrape water for drying. Check for wear. For perfect drying, the rear blade edge should bend approximately 45° during operation. Adjust angle with screw (fig. 3-ref. 5) and height with knobs (fig. 4-ref. 6).

Brush Installation

Automatic brush attachment (PAD ASSIST)

Raise the head, select 'Brush control', rest brush on floor, center it, lower head, and activate drive lever. Repeat if necessary.

Automatic brush attachment (PROPEL)

Raise the head, select 'Brush control', rest brush on floor, center it, lower head, turn selector to 'OFF', press 'SET', then '+' button. Machine completes attachment. Use abrasive/microfibre disks similarly.

Automatic brush release

Raise the head, turn selector to 'OFF', press 'SET', then '-' button. Machine completes release.

Lifting and Transporting the Machine

All lifting and moving must be performed in a well-lit environment with appropriate safety measures. Operators must use personal protection devices.

To load the machine onto transport:

  1. Empty the tanks.
  2. Remove the batteries.
  3. Push the machine onto the pallet using a ramp, securing wheels and chassis. Do not raise the machine.
  4. Lift the pallet with the machine using a forklift and load it onto transport.
  5. Anchor the machine to the transport with cables.

Quick head change (BATTERY POWERED VERSIONS ONLY)

To change the scrubber head:

  1. Lower the head (mechanical) or select "CHANGE HEAD" (electronic version) in the "Technical menu".
  2. Electrically disconnect the head from the machine's wiring.
  3. Open the hook (fig. 5, ref. 2).
  4. Unscrew the two knobs (fig. 5-ref. 3).
  5. Remove the head.
  6. Install the new head by reversing the procedure.

Practical Guide for the Operator

Before starting work, wear appropriate personal protective equipment including overalls, ear protectors, non-slip shoes, mask, gloves.

Never leave the machine unattended with the electronic ignition key inserted.

For first-time use, practice on an obstacle-free surface.

Avoid rotating brushes with the machine stationary to prevent floor damage.

Always dilute detergent according to manufacturer's instructions. Do not use sodium hypochlorite, solvents, or hydrocarbons. Water and detergent temperature must not exceed specified limits. Use low-foam biodegradable detergents.

For a list of available detergents, contact the Manufacturer. Use products suitable for the floor and dirt.

Preparing the machine for work

  1. Check that batteries are fully charged. Recharge if necessary (see "Battery maintenance and charging").
  2. Ensure the dirty water tank is empty.
  3. Ensure the solution tank is full. Add detergent if necessary.
  4. Adjust instrument panel height using adjustment knobs (fig. 10-ref. 4).

Controls

Working

  1. Insert the electronic key.
  2. Select the scrubbing program using the operation selector.
  3. Activate the drive lever, lower the squeegee, and start working.
  4. For machines without electric drive, use the knob (fig. 11-ref. 1) to correct deviations.

Some useful tips to get the most from your scrubber drier

Emptying the Collection Tank

If the tank is full, an alarm is displayed. Stop the machine and empty the tank using the hose (fig. 12, ref. 1). Rinse with clean water.

Emptying the Water/Detergent Tank

  1. Switch off all functions.
  2. Take the machine to the disposal area.
  3. Stop the machine.
  4. Detach the hose (Fig. 12A-Rif. 1) and unscrew the cap (Fig.12A-Rif.2).
  5. Lower the hose and open the tap (Fig.12A-Rif.3) to empty the tank.

Filling the water/detergent tank

Unscrew the cap (Fig.12A-Rif.2) and open the tap (Fig.12A-Rif.3) on the hose (Fig. 12A-Rif. 1). Fill the tank through the opening (fig. 14, Ref. 1). Use the graduated measuring cap for detergent dilution. Close the tap and retighten the cap.

Filling the Chem-Dose tank (accessory)

Open the dirty water tank lid and fill the container (fig. 14-ref. 2) with detergent.

Finishing work

Empty the dirty water tank and recharge the batteries.

After finishing work, remove the electronic key.

Moving the machine when not in operation

  1. Raise the squeegee.
  2. Raise the head.
  3. Move the operating program selector to Off.
  4. Versions with mechanical drive: push or pull.
  5. Version with electric drive: activate the drive lever.

Maintenance Instructions

Never perform maintenance without first disconnecting the batteries.

Electrical circuit maintenance and operations not described must be performed by specialized personnel.

Before lifting/rotating the tank, empty its contents and insert the safety bracket.

Maintenance - General rules

Regular maintenance improves performance and extends working life. Observe the following precautions:

Cleaning the suction motor air filter

Open the dirty water tank lid, release the clamp lever, remove the filter (fig. 15 - Ref 1), wash it, dry it, and reposition it.

Cleaning the debris container

Open the dirty water tank lid, empty the debris container (fig. 15-ref. 2). If washing is needed, remove and clean it.

Cleaning the dirty water tank float

Open the dirty water tank lid, remove the debris container (fig. 15-ref. 2), turn the float protector (fig. 15-ref. 3), clean the float, and ensure it slides freely.

Cleaning the water/detergent tank filter

Unscrew the filter cap (fig. 17-ref. 1), remove the filter/hose union (fig. 17-ref. 2), wash it, and replace it.

Fuses: replacing

Never use a fuse with a higher amperage than specified. Fuses can only be replaced by a TENNANT service centre or authorized personnel.

Lift the tank, disconnect the battery wiring connector or unplug the power cable, remove the cover (Fig. 18-Ref. 1) to access the fuses.

Battery maintenance and charging

Remove the electronic key before charging.

Do not check batteries by sparking. Batteries (WET) give off flammable fumes; extinguish fires and hot embers before checking or topping up.

Perform operations in a ventilated area.

When charging, keep the tank lifted and open for ventilation. Use a specific charger for gel batteries. Do not run batteries down completely.

Charge batteries as per the charger manual. Disconnect connectors after charging.

Ensure the machine is on a horizontal surface before releasing the tank opening cable screw ring.

ONBOARD battery charger: Turn machine off. Unplug charger from socket (fig. 19-ref. 2). Plug into mains. Start recharge cycle. Display shows when recharge is complete. Unplug cable after recharge.

Replacing the Squeegee Blades

  1. Lower the squeegee.
  2. Remove the suction hose.
  3. Lift the squeegee fastening levers.
  4. Remove the squeegee from the slots.
  5. Open the hook (fig. 20, ref. 1).
  6. Push the two blade pressing devices outwards (fig. 20, ref. 2) and remove them.
  7. Remove the blade.
  8. Reuse the blade by reversing the edge or replace with a new blade.
  9. Reposition the blade pressing devices and close the hook.
  10. Replace the squeegee on its support.

Periods of Inactivity

If the machine is not used for over one month, recharge batteries completely. Recharge regularly (at least every two months) to maintain maximum charge. Disconnect batteries from the machine. Unplug the battery charger from the mains. Remove squeegee and brushes, wash and store them in a dry place. Ensure tanks are empty and clean.

Failure to recharge batteries regularly may cause irreparable damage. The manufacturer is not liable for malfunctions resulting from neglect or improper use.

When batteries are flat, do not leave them discharged for extended periods to avoid shortening battery life. Check battery charge at least once a week.

Technical Menu T291 - T391

Access the menu by turning the operation selector to OFF and pressing "SET" twice, then press "+" and "-" buttons together. Use "+" to increase parameters, "-" to decrease, and "SET" to select and confirm.
