Ozobot Color Codes Chart

A reference guide to Ozobot commands executed via color codes.

Speed

Speed codes adjust your Ozobot's velocity.

Short Super Slow? A three-second burst of very slow speed.
[color-block: R G B]
SlowA slow speed command that lasts until a new speed code is read or the Ozobot is turned off.
[color-block: R BK R]
CruiseThe default speed command.
[color-block: G BK G]
FastA high speed command that lasts until a new speed code is read or the Ozobot is turned off.
[color-block: B BK B]
TurboAn extra high speed command that lasts until a new speed code is read or the Ozobot is turned off.
[color-block: B G B]
Nitro Boost? A three-second burst of Ozobot's highest speed.
[color-block: B G R]

Speed progression: Short Super Slow (slowest) > Slow > Cruise (default) > Fast > Turbo > Nitro boost (fastest)

Direction & Special Moves

Direction codes guide Ozobot at intersections, while Special Moves codes trigger unique actions.

Left at Intersection➡️ Turns left at the next intersection.
[color-block: G BK R]
Straight at IntersectionContinues straight through the next intersection.
[color-block: B BK R]
Right at Intersection➡️ Turns right at the next intersection.
[color-block: B R G]
Line Switch LeftImmediately turns 90 degrees left, moves to a new line, then makes a random turn to follow it.
[color-block: G R G]
Line Switch StraightContinues straight after the line ends. Does not work if an intersection is encountered before the line ends.
[color-block: G B G]
Line Switch RightImmediately turns 90 degrees right, moves to a new line, then makes a random turn to follow it.
[color-block: R G R]
U-Turn↩️ Turns around 180 degrees mid-line and follows the same line in the opposite direction.
[color-block: B R B]
U-Turn (Line End)Turns around 180 degrees at the end of a line and follows it in the opposite direction.
[color-block: B R]
Tornado?️ Spins around twice at increasing speed, then continues following the line.
[color-block: R G R G]
Zigzag〰️ Sways right-left-right-left while moving forward, then continues straight.
[color-block: B BK G R]
Spin? Spins around twice at a consistent speed, then continues following the line.
[color-block: G R G R]
Backwalk⬅️ Quickly turns 180 degrees, wiggles backward for one second, turns 180 degrees again, and continues following the line.
[color-block: R G BK B]

Timers

Timer codes control Ozobot's pausing and countdown functions.

Pause (3 sec.)⏸️ Stops movement for three seconds, then resumes default behavior.
[color-block: R B R]
Timer On (30 sec. to stop)⏱️ Counts down from 30 seconds, continuing to move and read codes. Ozobot flashes its light(s) once per second, flashes rapidly when time is up, then shuts off.
[color-block: R BK B G]
Timer OffStops any active countdown and returns Ozobot to default behavior.
[color-block: G B BK R]

Wins/Exits

Win/Exit codes allow Ozobot to celebrate success or end its run.

Win/Exit (Play Again)? Performs a success animation, then continues to follow the line.
[color-block: G B]
Win/Exit (Game Over)Performs a success animation, then stops following the line.
[color-block: G R]

Counters

Counter codes enable Ozobot to count intersections, turns, or line color changes.

Enable X-ing CounterOzobot stops following lines after crossing five intersections ('T' or '+' shapes). Executes a "done" maneuver and blinks red upon completion.
[color-block: G R B G]
Enable Turn CounterCounts only intersections where Ozobot makes a turn, not straight paths. Ozobot may randomly go straight or be commanded to do so.
[color-block: R B G B]
Enable Path Color CounterOzobot stops following lines after reading five line color changes. Transitions between red and green count as one change. Black lines and segments less than two centimeters are not counted.
[color-block: R G B R]
Enable Point CounterCounts down from five. Each "Point -1" code decrements the counter. After the fifth "Point -1", Ozobot performs a "done" maneuver and stops. "Point +1" codes can increase the count (up to five). Reset by turning the Ozobot off and on.
[color-block: R B R G]
Point +1Increases the counter by one.
[color-block: R B G]
Point -1Decreases the counter by one.
[color-block: G B R]

Key: BK = Black, B = Blue, G = Green, R = Red
