Basic Troubleshooting
My speaker won't connect to my network using the audio cable
- Ensure your mobile device is connected to your wireless network before setup.
- Alternatively, connect via Ethernet cable. The HEOS by Denon App should recognize the speaker. You can then move it to your wireless network via Settings > My Devices > Device Name > Advanced > Network Settings.
I get a message “Device was not found”
- Move your speaker closer to your wireless router.
- Verify that your speakers and controller device are on the same network.
- Check for interference from other electronic devices (e.g., microwave ovens, cordless phones, TVs). Consider a wireless range extender if needed.
- If your wireless router is incompatible, use the HEOS Extend Wireless Range Extender and hard-wire it to your router.
Music cuts out or delays sometimes
- Ensure your Internet connection is stable.
- Check if other devices are consuming significant network bandwidth (e.g., video streaming).
- Ensure speakers are within wireless network range.
- Minimize interference from other electronic devices.
Cannot pair a Bluetooth device with the speaker
- Ensure the Bluetooth connection on your mobile device is functioning. Power cycle the mobile device, remove pairing information, and re-pair the HEOS speaker.
Additional Information
I hear distortion when using the AUX input
If the source device's volume is too high, it may overload the HEOS device inputs, causing distorted sound. Start with a medium-low volume on the source device and increase as needed. If distortion occurs, lower the source device's volume.
I hear a delay when using the AUX input with my TV
This delay occurs because the HEOS system buffers audio to ensure synchronized playback across all speakers. To avoid this delay when listening to TV audio, listen only to the speaker directly connected to the set-top box.
Connecting to a network using WPS
If your wireless router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™), you can connect your HEOS wireless speaker using the “Push Button” method:
- Press the WPS button on your router.
- Within 2 minutes, press and hold the Connect button on the rear panel of the HEOS speaker for 3 seconds.
- The front LED will flash green as it connects and turn solid blue upon completion.
Resetting your speaker
Resetting your speaker clears wireless network settings, EQ, and name, but retains current software. You will need to use Settings > Add Device to reconnect to your home network. To reset, press and hold the Connect and Bluetooth buttons on the back of the HEOS speaker for 5 seconds until the front LED flashes amber.
