Product Overview
The SuperFish Pond Clear Pro filter is a biological pond filter designed for ponds up to 18,000 and 36,000 liters, respectively. It utilizes a multi-stage filtration process including mechanical and biological filtration to keep pond water clean, healthy, and clear. The filter incorporates a UVC unit for water sterilization.
Key Features:
- Mechanical filtration through filter foam (coarse and fine).
- Biological filtration via Japanese mat and Bio-Balls, which host beneficial bacteria to break down harmful substances like ammonia and nitrite.
- Integrated UVC unit for water clarification.
- Suitable for water temperatures between 4°C and 35°C.
- Designed for continuous flow-through operation.

Function
The filter mechanically and biologically filters dirt from pond water. Water is pumped through the UVC unit and then into the filter. It passes through the Japanese mat (biological filtration), then blue (coarse) and yellow (fine) filter foam (mechanical filtration). Finally, it flows through Bio-Balls (biological filtration) back into the pond. Beneficial bacteria in the Japanese mat and Bio-Balls convert harmful substances (ammonia and nitrite) into harmless nitrates.
Installation
Locate the filter at least 2 meters from the pond in a sheltered place (not in direct sunlight) with adequate space for maintenance.
- NOTICE! Ensure the filter is level and above the pond's water level.
- Rinse the filter interior, media (filter foam, Japanese mat(s), Bio-Balls), and accessories with clean tap water.
- Properly replace rinsed Bio-Balls (m), Japanese mats (k), and filter foams (I), with the openwork plastic side facing the outlet and the closed plastic side facing the UVC.
- Mount the UVC on the filter box with gaskets (g) inside and outside the filter wall. Screw inlet pieces (f) onto the UVC outlets (refer to UVC manual).
- NOTICE! Ensure inlet openings face downwards for water flow.
- The screw cap (j) on the dirty water drain can be replaced with the elbow pipe (o) and 25/32/38 mm hose outlet (p¹) for the Pond Clear Pro 18000, or the ball valve (p²) for the Pond Clear Pro 36000.
- Fit the 38/50 mm hose outlet (a¹) or 75 mm PVC outlet (a²) with gasket (b) on the outside and O-ring (c) on the inside, and tighten the screw ring (e).
- ATTENTION! If the outlet opening is too large, insert the adjuster (d) carefully to prevent filter overflow.
- Connect a pond hose with clamp or PVC pipe to the outlet for water return to the pond.
- Switch on the pump and check for leaks.
Maintenance
- Clean the filter regularly. Daily cleaning of filter foam may be necessary for initial setup or heavily soiled ponds.
- The orange dirt indicator (s) in the lid shows when filter foam needs cleaning. Clogged foam raises the water level, activating the indicator.
- Switch off the pond pump and UVC, and unplug before maintenance.
- For UVC maintenance, refer to the UVC user manual.
- Remove the filter lid(s) (n).
- Fig. A: A cleaning tool (r) is included with the Pond Clear Pro 36000 (also available separately, Art. 06030240) for easy filter foam cleaning. Foam can remain in the filter.
- Push the cleaning tool up and down over the foam to wring it out without getting hands wet or dirty.
- Once wrung out, open the dirty water drain (Fig. C) to let dirty water flow to the sewer or for garden watering.
- The Pond Clear Pro 36000 has a built-in sliding valve (q) between chambers. Drain the first chamber before opening the valve to drain the second.
- If necessary, run the pump briefly to flush remaining wastewater.
- Ensure the pump is off, close the sliding valve, and close the dirty water drain.
- Fig. B: If no cleaning tool is available (Pond Clear Pro 18000), remove filter foam by pulling it out.
- Place foam in a bucket with pond water and squeeze both plastic sides together several times to wring it out.
- Let dirty water drain, then replace foam correctly: openwork plastic side towards outlet, closed plastic side towards UVC.
- For Pond Clear Pro 18000: blue foam outside, yellow foam in the center. For Pond Clear Pro 36000: blue foam (I¹) in the first chamber, yellow foam (I²) in the second.
- Ensure the dirty water drain is closed before starting the pump. Only switch on the UVC once water circulation is fully restored.
- Japanese mats require minimal maintenance; bacteria develop and adhere, aiding biological filtration. Rinsing can remove these bacteria, disrupting filtration.
- Clean Bio-Balls once or twice a year by rinsing with pond water (do not use tap water).
- Replace filter foam (Art. 06030225) annually. Replace one foam at a time per month per container (model dependent), not all at once.
Warranty
2-year manufacturer's warranty on materials and construction defects. Devices must be returned complete with all components and an official proof of purchase with the purchase date for warranty claims. Incomplete devices or those without proof of purchase are not eligible. Aquadistri will determine if the device will be repaired or replaced. For repaired/replaced devices, the remaining warranty period applies. Read installation, use, and maintenance instructions carefully. Damage from incorrect use, contamination, lack of cleaning, glass breakage, or cord damage is not covered. Always keep the proof of purchase; without it, the warranty is void!
