Symbols on the Device Itself:
- [⚡] Risk of electric shock. Connect only to an earthed electrical outlet, protected by a residual-current device (RCD)/ground-fault-circuit-interrupter (GFCI).
- This UVC device produces harmful radiation, direct contact can be dangerous for the eyes and skin. Always turn off the UV lamp before opening.
- Do not directly stare at the light source.
- [CE] This device complies with all applicable EU standards.
- [Recycling Symbol] This device may not be disposed of with normal household waste but must be collected separately for recycling.
Use
For installation in pond filters. Suitable for ponds up to 20,000 litres.
Safety
Always follow the safety instructions below for safe use of the device. Failure to follow these instructions may endanger persons or the environment.
- [UV Radiation Hazard] This UVC device emits UV-C radiation, which can cause serious eye damage and/or damage to the skin. The UV lamp must therefore always be installed completely shielded from the eyes.
- Never look at a burning UV lamp. Do not switch on the lamp until it is fully shielded installed and fully submerged.
- This device must be protected by an earth leakage relay breaker with a leakage current of a maximum of 30mA.
- Ensure the voltage shown on the label matches the mains supply voltage.
- This device must be connected to a socket which is earthed.
- Protect the socket and plug against moisture. Use a drip loop to ensure that water cannot reach the socket and ballast via the cord (see Fig. A).
- The ballast must be installed in a dry place, with a minimum 2 metre clearing from the pond.
- Do not use the product if the device, quartz glass, cord or plug is damaged. Replace the quartz glass or return the device to your dealer for repair or recycling.
- Be careful with the combination of water and electricity. Do not operate with wet hands. Dry hands before carrying out maintenance.
- Always switch off all devices at the mains supply before maintenance.
- [i] The UV lamp becomes warm. Allow the lamp to cool for at least 10 minutes before carrying out maintenance.
- Make sure that the UV lamp is always fully submerged below the water level. If the lamp is not fully submerged, it will overheat and breakdown.
- In the event of frost or the risk of frost, appropriate precautions must be taken to prevent it from freezing.
- This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above, persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance of the device shall not be done by children without supervision.
- Modifications to the device may affect the safety. The warranty will also expire.
- Aquadistri is not liable for any problems, damage or accidents due to incorrect use of this device.
Function
The SuperFish Koi Pro Module UVC is a high output immersion UVC that is easy to build in a pond filter. The UV lamp produces ultraviolet light with a wavelength of exactly 254 nm, thus meaning best effectiveness at this wavelength. The UVC radiation kills almost all harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi and keeps algae growth under control.
Installation
Fig. B: Determining Location
Determine the location for the UVC device in the filter. This must be below the water level of the filter and sufficient water must be able to flow past it. The space should be sufficient for the quartz glass (± 35 cm).
- Drill a hole with a diameter of 50 mm, at the desired position into the wall of the filter.
- Loosen the lock nut (c) from the adapter (b).
- Undo the fastening nut (d) from the adapter.
- Insert the adapter into the hole, ensuring that the O-ring (j) is between the adapter and the filter wall (outside of the filter).
- Tighten the fastening nut (d) back on the adapter on the inside of the filter so that the whole is securely fastened.
Fig. C: Assembly Steps
- Carefully unpack the UV lamp (g) and insert the lamp into the lamp holder (f).
- Remove the quartz glass (e) from the packaging and place the O-ring (h) correctly in the top of the quartz glass.
- Carefully slide the lamp and lamp holder into the quartz glass (e). Make sure that the micro-switch is in the recess. The micro-switch is an extra security, it ensures that the UV lamp is always switched off automatically when disassembling (in case you forgot to switch off the UV lamp).
- Slide the O-ring (i) over the plastic part of the quartz glass and carefully slide the assembly into the adapter.
- Make sure that the O-ring (i) remains in place between the edge of the adapter and quartz glass.
- Tighten the lock nut (c) hand-tight at the adapter, so that it is firmly in place.
- Check the whole assembly for possible leaks.
- Make sure that the UV lamp is completely submerged and the filter cover is closed before inserting the plug into the wall socket.
- Install the ballast in a dry place (not on the ground), protected against splashing water, with a minimum 2 metre clearing from the pond.
- Insert the plug into the socket so that the UV lamp lights up.
- Through the transparent viewing area of the lamp holder you can see if the UV lamp is lit.
Maintenance
- Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out maintenance!
- The UVC device should be cleaned twice a year. As soon as algae growth increases, check the UVC device and UV-lamp and clean the whole or exchange the UV lamp (Art. 06010465) as needed.
- [i] The lamp is hot, wait 10 minutes after switch off before opening the UVC device.
- Ensure that the water is drained out of the filter first, before removing the UVC device.
- Undo the lock nut (c) and remove the lamp holder (f) with the UV lamp (g) and the quartz glass (e) from the adapter. If necessary, you can also replace the lamp.
- The High Output UV lamp has an effective life span of approximately 16,000 hours (±2 years). The lamp will still burn beyond this period, but the UV radiation is no longer effective.
- Clean the quartz glass outer face with a soft cloth and SuperFish Pump & UVC Clean carefully. After cleaning, thoroughly rinse the quartz glass with clean tap water and check for damage. Replace the quartz glass (Art. 06010474) if it shows any damage (to prevent glass breakage).
- Reinstall everything, making sure the O-rings are correctly positioned. Replace the O-rings (Art. 06010476) if they are showing signs of perishing.
- Tighten the lock nut (c) hand-tight at the adapter.
- Check the whole assembly for possible leaks.

Recycling
[Recycling Symbol] This product (if discarded) may not be disposed of with normal household waste. Instead, it must be handed in at an official collection centre (e.g. HWRC) or returned to the dealer when purchasing a similar new product. Follow the applicable rules in your country for the separate collection of electrical and electronic products. Separate collection and recycling are better for the environment, public health, and reduce waste.
Warranty
2 years manufacturer's warranty on materials and construction defects. Devices must be returned complete with all components, accompanied by an official proof of purchase confirming the purchase date for any warranty claims. Incomplete devices or devices without proof of purchase are not eligible for warranty. After receiving and checking, SuperFish will determine whether the device will be repaired or replaced. For a device repaired or replaced under warranty, the remaining time of the original warranty period applies. Carefully read the instructions on installation, use, and maintenance. Damage due to incorrect use, contamination, lack of cleaning, glass breakage, and cord damage are not covered by the warranty. Always keep the proof of purchase; without it, the warranty will be void!
Cleaning Advice (Pump & UVC Clean)
Important: Clean your UVC device at least twice a year. Dirt and calcification reduce UV-light permeability. Descale your quartz glass at least twice a year for smooth, long-term use. In areas with extremely hard water, more frequent descaling may be needed. Technical problems caused by scale are not covered by the warranty. Special SuperFish Pump & UVC Clean is available at your dealer for cleaning and descaling the quartz glass.
