Important Safeguards

Always follow these safety precautions:

Getting Ready

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. Blades and discs are sharp; handle carefully.
  3. Always unplug from outlet when not in use, before assembling/disassembling parts, before removing food, and before cleaning. Grasp the plug to unplug, never pull the cord.
  4. Do not use outdoors.
  5. Do not let the cord hang over edges or touch hot surfaces.
  6. Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance has been dropped or damaged. Return to an authorized service facility for examination or repair.

Operation

  1. Keep hands and utensils away from moving blades/discs to prevent injury. A plastic scraper may be used when the motor is stopped.
  2. Avoid contact with moving parts. Never push food by hand when slicing or shredding; always use the pusher.
  3. Ensure the motor has completely stopped before removing the cover. If it does not stop within 4 seconds after cover removal, call 1-800-472-7606.
  4. Never store blades or discs on the motor shaft except when the bowl is locked and the processor is in use. Store blades and discs out of reach of children.
  5. Ensure the cover and feed tube are securely locked before operating.
  6. Never override or tamper with the cover interlock mechanism.

Cleaning

Do not put the base in water or other liquids to prevent electrical shock.

General

  1. This appliance should not be used by or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.
  2. Do not operate under the influence of alcohol or substances affecting reaction time.
  3. This food processor is UL listed for household use only, for food preparation as described in the manual. Do not use outside its intended use.
  4. Using unapproved attachments may cause fire, shock, injury, or damage.
  5. To avoid malfunction of the work bowl switch, never store the processor with the pusher assembly in the locked position.
  6. The maximum rating of 350 watts is based on the attachment drawing the greatest current.
  7. Do not operate in an appliance garage or under a wall cabinet. Always unplug from the electrical outlet when storing in an appliance garage to prevent fire risk.

NOTICE: If your food processor has a plastic case, it has a polarized plug. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY

WARNING: RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK

The lightning flash symbol alerts users to uninsulated dangerous voltage. The exclamation point symbol alerts users to important operating and maintenance instructions.

Special Cord Set Instructions

If your unit has a die-cast metal housing, it is equipped with a 3-conductor cord set with a molded 3-prong grounding-type plug. Use with a properly connected grounding-type outlet (Figure A).

If a grounding-type outlet is unavailable, an adapter (Figure B) can be used with a 2-slot wall outlet. The adapter's grounding plug must be attached under the outlet cover plate screw (Figure C). Ensure the outlet cover plate screw is properly grounded; consult an electrician if unsure. Do not remove the grounding prong. Use of an adapter is not permitted in Canada.

Assembly Instructions

Before first use

Wash the work bowl, cover, pusher, blade, disc, and spatula (see Cleaning Instructions on page 10).

  1. Place the food processor base on a dry, level countertop. Do not plug in the unit until fully assembled.
  2. With the bowl on the base, turn the work bowl counterclockwise using the handle to lock it onto the housing base.

Blade Operation

The BladeLock feature keeps the blade secure during processing, pouring, lifting, and handling. Always check that the blade is securely locked before turning the bowl upside down.

Note: Do not remove the chopping/mixing/kneading blade when liquid is above the blade hub, as this will defeat the SealTight™ system.

  1. With the work bowl on the base, align the chopping/mixing/kneading blade by its hub over the center of the bowl, place it on the shaft, and turn until it slides into place. Push down firmly to lock. Always check for secure locking before turning the bowl upside down. (To remove, take the bowl off the base, place on a flat surface, rest hand on the rim, and pull up gently.)

Disc Operation

  1. Position the stem adapter over the center of the bowl and slide it down the motor shaft. Select the desired side of the disc for slicing or shredding and place it over the stem adapter.

Cover Operation

  1. Place the work bowl cover on the work bowl by latching the back first, then pushing down on the front to lock. Ensure both front and back locks are engaged. Alternatively, position the cover directly over the bowl and push down on the front and back. To remove, push in both sides of the release button and lift.

Note: The work bowl cover fits, locks, and seals. It will become easier to engage with use. The seal is removable for cleaning but must be replaced for operation.

  1. Align the pusher over the feed tube opening and slide it down completely.
  2. Plug the food processor into a proper electrical outlet.

Note: The bowl and lid must be securely in place for the unit to operate.

Machine Controls

On Button

The On control runs the machine continuously until Off is selected. Assemble and engage the machine, add ingredients, press On. The blue LED light will illuminate. Press Off when finished.

Pulse Button

The Pulse control allows for more accurate processing duration and frequency. Press and hold the Pulse button as needed while ingredients are in the bowl. The blue LED On light will illuminate.

Machine Functions

Using the Metal Blade

  • Chopping: Cut raw ingredients into 1/2 to 1-inch pieces. Pulse in 1-second increments. For finest chop, hold pulse or press On continuously. Scrape bowl as needed.
  • Puréeing: Cut fruits/vegetables into 1-inch pieces. Pulse to chop, then process On until smooth. Scrape bowl as needed. Do not use for cooked white potatoes. For solids in soup/sauce, strain and process solids with cooking liquid.

Reversible Slicing/Shredding Disc

  • Use caution and do not exceed the Max Liquid fill line.
  • Pack food evenly in the feed tube. Use light pressure for soft foods, medium for medium, and firm for hard foods. Process with even pressure.
  • For round fruits/vegetables, remove a thick slice on the bottom to help them sit upright. Cut food to fit the feed tube.
  • For small ingredients, trim ends to help them sit upright.
  • Chill cheese before slicing/shredding.
  • Roll leafy vegetables together and stand them up in the feed tube for shredding.

Cleaning, Storage and Maintenance

Keep the unit on the counter for easy access. Unplug when not in use. Keep blades and discs out of reach of children.

All parts except the housing base are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). Wash work bowl, cover, and accessories on the top rack to prevent damage from intense water heat. Insert cover with feed tube facing up for seal cleaning. The seal can be removed for cleaning but must be replaced for each operation. Insert bowl and pusher upside down for drainage. Unload dishwasher carefully.

For easier cleaning, rinse parts immediately after use. If food lodges in the pusher, use water or a bottle brush.

When washing by hand, use plastic hubs and avoid leaving parts in soapy water. To clean the metal blade, fill the work bowl with soapy water, hold by the plastic center, and move it rapidly up and down on the center shaft.

The work bowl is shatter and heat resistant but should not be placed in a microwave oven.

Wipe the housing base with a soapy, non-abrasive material and dry thoroughly.

Four rubber feet keep the base stable. If feet leave spots, use a spot remover and damp sponge.

IMPORTANT: Never store blades or discs on the motor shaft except when the processor is about to be used.

MAINTENANCE: Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative.

For Your Safety

Handle all electrical appliances with care. Follow these guidelines:

  • Handle and store metal blades and discs carefully; cutting edges are very sharp.
  • Always place the stem adapter on the motor shaft before assembling the disc.
  • Never put a blade or disc on the motor shaft until the work bowl is locked in place.
  • Ensure the blade or disc is fully seated on the motor shaft.
  • Always insert the metal blade into the work bowl before adding ingredients.
  • Always use the pusher when slicing or shredding; never put fingers or spatulas into the feed tube.
  • Wait for the blade or disc to stop spinning before removing the pusher assembly or cover.
  • Always unplug the unit before removing food, cleaning, or changing parts.
  • Remove the work bowl from the machine before removing the chopping blade or dough blade.

Technical Data

The motor operates on standard line current. Voltage and frequency are shown on a label on the bottom of the base. An automatic, temperature-controlled circuit breaker protects the motor from burnout. If the motor overheats during heavy use, it will stop. Turn off and allow to cool (30 minutes to 1 hour). Safety switches prevent operation unless the work bowl and cover are locked. The motor stops within seconds when turned off or when the pusher assembly is removed.

Troubleshooting

Food Processing

  • Problem: Uneven processing. Solution: Cut ingredients evenly (1/2 to 1-inch pieces). Process in batches to avoid overloading.
  • Problem: Uneven or slanted slices. Solution: Place evenly cut food in feed tube. Apply even pressure with the pusher.
  • Problem: Food falls over in feed tube. Solution: Pack feed tube full for best results.
  • Problem: Some food remains on top of the disc. Solution: It is normal for small pieces to remain; cut them by hand and add to processed ingredients.

Dough Kneading

  • Problem: Motor slows down. Solution: Dough amount may exceed capacity; process in batches. Dough may be too wet; add flour 1 tbsp at a time until motor speeds up. Process until dough cleans the bowl sides.
  • Problem: Blade doesn't incorporate ingredients. Solution: Start processor before adding liquid. Add liquid slowly. If too much liquid, wait for mixing, then add remaining liquid slowly. Pour liquid onto dough as it passes under feed tube opening.
  • Problem: Blade rises in work bowl. Solution: Sticky dough can cause this. Reinsert blade and add 2 tbsp flour through feed tube while running.
  • Problem: Dough doesn't clean inside of work bowl. Solution: Dough amount may exceed capacity; process in batches. Dough may be too dry or too wet.
  • Problem: Nub of dough forms on blade. Solution: Stop machine, remove dough, divide into 3 pieces, and redistribute evenly in the bowl.
  • Problem: Dough feels tough. Solution: Divide dough into 2-3 pieces, redistribute evenly, and process 10 seconds until soft and pliable.
  • Problem: Dough is too dry. Solution: While running, add water 1 tbsp at a time until dough cleans the bowl.
  • Problem: Dough is too wet. Solution: While running, add flour 1 tbsp at a time until dough cleans the bowl.

Technical

  • Problem: Motor does not start. Solution: Ensure work bowl and cover are securely locked (safety interlock). Check power cord and outlet.
  • Problem: Food processor shuts off during operation. Solution: Check if cover is securely in position. Motor may be overheating; press Off and wait 20-30 minutes to cool.
  • Problem: Cover becomes unlatched or makes noise. Solution: Push down to lock the back into position.
  • Problem: Motor slowed down. Solution: Normal for heavier loads. Reposition food or remove some ingredients if capacity is exceeded.
  • Problem: Difficult to remove chopping/mixing/kneading blade. Solution: Use extra force; the blade is designed to lock securely.
  • Problem: Processor vibrated/moved. Solution: Ensure rubber feet are clean and dry. Check that maximum load capacity is not exceeded.
  • Problem: Pusher falls out when cover is upside down. Solution: Pull out the pusher lock feature.
