Safety Instructions
Facility and User Safety Precautions
- Review and understand all warning labels on the machine and facility safety sign.
- Ensure machine operation is understood before use. Refer to the instructional procedure label.
- Train all users on proper equipment usage. Facilities are responsible for instructing users on potential hazards. Maximum user weight: 400 lbs / 182 kg.
- Use each machine only for its intended exercise. Do not invent exercises.
- Do not modify the machine.
- Do not attach straps, resistance bands, or other means to the framework for stretching or bodyweight exercises, as this can cause instability and serious crushing injuries.
- Keep children away from equipment. Adults should supervise teenagers.
- Users should receive a thorough medical exam before starting an exercise program.
- If the machine is damaged or inoperable, place an "OUT OF ORDER, DO NOT USE" sign on it until repaired. Use only TRUE supplied replacement components.
- Instruct users not to wear loose or dangling clothes or have headphone wires hanging.
- Do not attempt to free jammed assemblies yourself.
On Plate Loaded and Free Weight Machines:
- Use of spotters is recommended. Seek advice from facility staff regarding appropriate spotter use.
- Load weight plates evenly and carefully to avoid tipping and crushing injuries.
- Inspect safety stops or catches for proper operation before use. Ensure members are instructed on how to operate and adjust safety mechanisms.
- This equipment is designed for standard Olympic size weight plates with a 50mm bore (1.9").
- Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity. Maximum plate size: 45 lbs / 20 kg.
Installation Safety Precautions
- Read the installation manual entirely before assembling.
- Verify adequate space for safe access and operation. Installation must meet ADA requirements.
- Install on a solid level surface (no more than 1/8″ deviation over 10').
- TRUE recommends anchoring equipment to the floor for stability. Contact a qualified contractor for appropriate fastening systems.
- Use 3/8" diameter hardware (10 mm) for anchoring. Anchors should have a minimum pull-out force of 220 lbs / 110 kg per position.
- When attaching to the floor, if there is a gap between the machine foot and floor, do not use the anchor to close the gap. Use a shim instead.
- Use all provided anchoring locations.
- DO NOT install near pools, hot tubs, or other damp locations, as corrosion can cause premature failure.
- Ensure all hardware is tight before use.
- Some assembly materials may come preassembled. Refer to Assembly Instructions for disassembly details.
Maintenance Safety Precautions
- Refer to the maintenance schedule table for maintenance timing.
- Daily: Check adjustment possibility and ease, ensure adjustment pins insert fully. Verify safety catches and stops are operational. Ensure exercise is smooth and free of noise/binding.
- Weekly: Check tightness of nuts, bolts, and fasteners. Apply Loctite® Threadlocker 242 if needed. Inspect frames and lifting arms for integrity and function. Replace components at first sign of wear using TRUE parts. Replace warning labels at first sign of wear.
General Care and Maintenance
Preventative maintenance is crucial for function and safety. Facilities must establish written guidelines and keep records.
- Nuts, bolts, and fasteners: Check tightness weekly. Tighten loose hardware and/or use Loctite® Threadlocker 242. Ensure all hardware is tight before use.
- Safety catches: Inspect catches, stop rods, and fasteners. Tighten loose hardware and replace components at first sign of wear.
- Frames: Wipe down daily with a damp cloth and dry completely to prevent corrosion from sweat, sprays, and spills. This includes painted parts, chrome parts, and upholstered pads.
- Painted and chrome plated parts: Use Simple Green (32:1 dilution) for light dirt. Use Turtle Wax Polishing Compound or car polish for heavier dirt/grease. DO NOT use solvents like lacquer thinner, acetone, or nail polish remover. Use soft scrub cleanser for scuffs not removed by polish. Ensure parts are dry.
- Exercise instruction labels: Clean with soap and water as needed.
- Bronze bushings: Check monthly for wear and replace as needed.
- Linear bearing shafts: Wipe weekly and apply a thin layer of Teflon® (PTFE) grease weekly. TRUE recommends Magnalube®.

Preventative Maintenance
Preventative maintenance is crucial for function and safety. Facilities must establish written guidelines and keep records.
IMPORTANT! Always purchase replacement parts from TRUE. Use of unapproved parts may cause serious injury and/or void the limited warranty.
Daily Inspection and Maintenance
Perform these inspections daily before use:
- Inspect for cleanliness. Wipe and dry upholstery, frame, and chrome.
- Inspect all adjustment pins, weight stack pins, set screws, gas shocks, snap links, and pulleys.
- Inspect all safety and instructional decals.
- Inspect all weight stack shields.
- Verify rubber hand grips are intact and secure.
- Verify anti-skid foot grips are intact and secure.
Weekly Inspection and Maintenance
Perform these inspections weekly:
- Verify adjustment pop pins retract easily and engage fully. They are spring-loaded and should return to the engaged position when the knob is released.
- Verify the adjustment pin disengages and engages freely. Ensure the pin inserts fully into the adjustment disc.
- Verify all hardware is tight and frame members are secure. Apply Loctite® on loose bolts.
- Inspect frame for integrity and function. Replace components at first sign of wear using TRUE supplied parts.
Other Scheduled Preventative Maintenance
TRUE recommends scheduled maintenance by a qualified service technician. Contact your dealer or visit www.truefitness.com.
- Monthly: Clean guide rods and lubricate with Teflon grease.
- Every 6 Months: Lubricate pivot bearings and linear bearings with lithium grease.
Cleaning the Equipment
Daily Cleaning
Wipe all machines with a water-dampened cloth and dry completely. This includes painted parts, chrome plated parts (except guide rods), plastic parts, and upholstered pads. Do not leave parts damp, as this can increase the potential for corrosion.
CAUTION: Certain anti-bacterial cleaners and harsh cleaning agents can induce corrosion and damage upholstery.
Heavy Duty Cleaning
- Guide Rods: Clean and lubricate with Teflon Spray.
- Chromed Adjustment Tubes: Wipe away dust and dirt before applying Teflon spray lubricant. TRUE recommends Tri-Flow™.
- Linear Bearings: Clean the linear shaft and lubricate with Teflon-based grease.
- Painted Frames: For scuff marks, grease, or dirt buildup, start with mild soap solution or Simple Green (32:1). For stubborn marks, use car polish/cleaner. DO NOT use solvents. For deeper scuffs, use automobile finish rubbing compound. Ensure parts are dry.
- Upholstery: For heavy duty cleaning, use a mild soap solution. For severe stains, use a 5-10% household bleach solution diluted with water. Test in an inconspicuous area first. DO NOT use chemical cleaners on vinyl upholstery. Lanolin-based hand cleaner can also be used. Wipe off after cleaning and dry thoroughly.
- Plastic Parts: Use a mild soap solution.
- Labels: Use a mild soap solution.
- Shrouds: Use a mild soap solution.
CAUTION: Do not use acidic cleaners, as this may void the TRUE Warranty. Never pour or spray liquids on equipment. Allow to dry completely before use.
CAUTION: If equipment needs service, ensure it cannot be used inadvertently and inform others.
