Assembly Instructions
- Place the bottom bowl onto the pedestal and twist to lock in place.
- Place the pump in the center of the bottom bowl. Run the power cable through the pipe in the bowl and beneath the groove in the bottom of the pedestal.
- Place the top bowl onto the column and twist to lock in place.
- Run the water tube that is built into the topper through the top bowl and column.
- Carefully connect the water tube to the pump.
- Ensure the pump is sitting flat inside the bottom bowl, align the column with the bottom bowl, and twist to lock in place.
- Fill each tier with enough water to keep the pump fully submerged during operation.
- Insert the included 'AA' batteries into the back of the solar panel, observing correct polarity.
- Plug the power cable into the solar panel.
- Assemble the solar panel ground stake. Insert the spike into the ground, ensuring the solar panel is positioned for maximum sun exposure.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The water tubing is built into the fountain topper. Handle with care to avoid detaching it, which will void the warranty.
- A rattling noise may occur due to loose casting material from the manufacturing process. This is normal.
- The solar panel kit may include accessories (extension tubes, spray heads, LED light ring) not required for basic operation. Refer to assembly instructions for required components.
Panel Placement
Position the solar panel to face south (in the Northern Hemisphere) to maximize daylight hours. Angle the panel towards the sun at its highest point. Ensure trees, shrubs, or buildings do not shade the solar panel.
Correct Placement: ✔️
Incorrect Placement: ❌
Solar Panel Operation
Solar-Powered Mode: Recommended for daytime use. Press the "solar on/off" button. The green indicator light signifies power. The pump operates in bright sunlight. Surplus power charges the battery. The pump will not run on cloudy days due to insufficient power.
Battery-Powered Mode: Recommended for nighttime or cloudy days. Press the "Battery on/off" button; the red indicator light signifies this mode. The pump operates at night or during overcast conditions. On sunny days, batteries fully charge, allowing up to 4 hours of operation. On cloudy days, operation time is reduced. The system may revert to "solar-powered" mode when battery power is low; "battery-powered" mode requires manual reactivation.
Low Battery: A blinking red indicator light signals low battery power. Recharge the batteries for at least 4 hours in direct sunlight before attempting to use "battery-powered" mode again.
Adjustable Water Rate: In "battery-powered" mode, press the "batt. on/off high" button to adjust water flow. Stop pressing when the desired flow is achieved.
Weather and Pump Operation Summary:
Weather | PUMP ON | PUMP OFF |
Sunny with surplus energy | Surplus solar energy is charged to back-up battery. | All solar energy is charged to back-up battery. |
Sunny, clouds pass | Solar energy runs the pump and charges the battery. Pump performance is maintained. Pump runs into the evening/night until the battery is depleted. | Battery should be fully charged in 1 day. |
Sunny, clouds pass, limited sun | Solar energy runs the pump and surplus energy is stored in the battery. Performance is maintained. Pump runs for a short time in the evening until the battery is depleted. | Battery will take 2 to 3 days to fully charge. |
Low sunlight/battery power | Pump runs only when there is sufficient power from the battery. Little or no battery charging occurs; pump performance is not maintained or guaranteed. | Battery will take several days to fully charge. |
No solar power | No solar power is available, the pump will not run and the battery will not charge. | Battery will not charge. |
Battery Information
Rechargeable batteries lose efficiency over time. For improved performance, a boost charge may be needed. Disconnect pump and light cables from the solar panel for 2-3 sunny days to allow maximum battery charge. If batteries still underperform, they may need replacement. Replace the (4) AA rechargeable batteries by opening the battery cover.
IMPORTANT!
Only use compatible rechargeable batteries. Incompatible alternatives may damage the system and void the warranty. Contact Sunnydaze Decor customer service for correct replacement batteries, referencing the product number.
Dispose of batteries according to local laws and regulations.
Care & Maintenance
- Add water more frequently in climates with high evaporation, during high temperatures, wind, or prolonged direct sunlight. Ensure the pump remains submerged. The pump has dry-run technology and will shut off if water is low.
- Use only water in the fountain. Distilled water is recommended to prevent mineral buildup, but tap water is acceptable. Avoid heavily chlorinated water, as it can damage the fountain finish and pump.
- The fountain's finish may naturally mellow over time due to sun exposure. This is normal aging and not a defect.
- Periodically change the water and clean the fountain and pump to remove scale and buildup.
- DO NOT use harmful additives like bleach or chlorine.
- DO NOT use abrasive materials for cleaning.
- DO NOT use a pressure washer.
- Always disconnect the power supply before cleaning or maintenance. Handle the pump by its body, not the power cable.
- During freezing weather, drain the fountain, disconnect the pump, and store indoors to prevent damage from ice.
WARNING: The one-year warranty does not cover damages or defects caused by chemical treatments, protective coatings, touch-up paint, or cleaning products.
Troubleshooting
- Ensure the solar panel receives full sunlight; the pump will not operate if shaded and the battery is depleted.
- Verify the power cable is fully inserted into the solar panel port.
- Confirm the pump is fully submerged. Tap the pump gently to release any trapped air.
- Check the pump and fountain tubing for obstructions.
- If water flow is uneven, ensure the fountain is level. Thin plastic shims may be needed to adjust tier spacing.
Safety Statements & Warnings
- For outdoor use only.
- Protect surrounding surfaces from potential water splashes or leaks.
- Do not use high-pressure spray nozzles for filling, as this may peel the finish.
- Keep the fountain out of reach of children and pets.
- Ensure power cables are away from traffic and heat sources.
- Always unplug the power supply before cleaning or maintenance.
- Empty and store the fountain, pump, and solar panel indoors during freezing weather.
- Recycle rechargeable batteries responsibly; do not incinerate or compost them.
Any modification to the product or failure to follow recommended care will void the product warranty.
