How to Set Up Your Remote
A - SimpleSet
SimpleSet is a quick and easy method to set up the remote for popular brands. This process typically takes less than a minute per device.
For each device type, a list of top brands is provided with an assigned number. Locate your device and brand in the list below:
TV Brands:
- 1 Bush
- 2 Grundig
- 3 LG
- 4 Panasonic
- 5 Philips
- 6 Samsung
- 7 Sharp
- 8 Sony
- 9 TCL/Thomson
- 0 Toshiba
To set up your device:
- Turn on your device (ensure it is not on standby) and point the OFA remote towards it.
- Hold down the MAGIC ✨ button until the LED indicator blinks twice.
- Hold down the digit corresponding to your brand and device as listed above (e.g., press 6 for Samsung TV).
- The remote will send a POWER ▶️ signal every 3 seconds until your device switches off.
- As soon as your device switches off, release the digit button.
- The LED indicator will blink twice and then go out. The remote should now operate your device.
If one or more keys do not function as expected, repeat the setup process starting from step 1. The remote will then try the next available code in its memory.
B - Set Up by Code
If your brand is not listed in section A, you can set up your device by trying codes individually.
To do this:
- Turn your device on (ensure it is not on standby).
- Locate the brand of your device in the code list (refer to pages 74-77, codes are listed by Device Type).
- Hold down the MAGIC ✨ button until the LED indicator blinks twice.
- Enter the first 4-digit code listed for your brand (e.g., 4542 for an Aiwa TV).
- The LED indicator will blink twice and go out.
- Aim the remote towards your device and press the POWER ▶️ key.
- If the device turns off, your remote is ready to use. If not, repeat steps 3-6 using the next code in the list.
Note: Some codes may be very similar. If keys do not operate as expected, try again from step 3 with the next code in the list.
Learning Functions
Your One For All remote can learn any function from any other working remote control. This is useful if you are missing functions or cannot find a code for your device.
Ensure all original remote controls have working batteries. Position the original remote approximately 3cm from the OFA remote, pointing towards it, as shown in the diagram.
Diagram Description: Illustration showing an original remote control positioned approximately 2-5 cm away from the One For All remote, both pointing towards a device, for the learning function.
To learn functions:
- Hold down the MAGIC ✨ button until the LED indicator blinks twice.
- Press 975 – the LED indicator will blink twice.
- Press and release the button on the OFA remote you want to learn a function onto (e.g., the HOME ? key). The red LED indicator will blink continuously.
- Press and release the corresponding button on the original remote.
- The LED indicator will blink twice to confirm the key has been learned correctly.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each key you wish to learn. You can learn from multiple remotes, but only one function per key.
- When all required functions are learned, press and hold the MAGIC ✨ key until the LED indicator blinks twice and turns off.
Hints:
- If the LED indicator shows one long blink at step 5, the function was not learned correctly. Please try again from step 3.
- If one or more keys do not work properly after setup, you can re-enter learning mode by repeating the procedure from step 1.
Deleting Learned Functions
To remove a learned function:
- Hold down the MAGIC ✨ button until the LED indicator blinks twice.
- Press 976 – the LED indicator will blink twice.
- Press the key you want to delete twice – the LED indicator will blink twice.
Repeat this procedure for each key you wish to delete.
The NETTV Feature
The Evolve remote features a dedicated "NETTV" ? button for accessing digital TV streamed over the internet. This button can function like a dedicated button on your original remote (e.g., a Netflix button) or be programmed as a shortcut for streaming services.
This feature is useful for devices connected to the internet, such as Smart TVs or streaming Set Top Boxes, which offer applications for internet-based TV viewing.
Programming a Macro for NETTV
Examples of streaming services include Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and BBC iPlayer.
To program a macro, you need to know the sequence of keys required to launch your preferred service on your device. For instance, some Panasonic TVs might start Netflix by pressing the Apps key, then Menu Down Twice, and finally the OK ✅ key.
Follow these steps to program a macro:
- Sit in front of your device with it switched on (not on standby).
- Hold down the NETTV ? key until the LED indicator blinks twice and stays lit.
- Now, perform the sequence of keys exactly as you normally would to launch the service. The remote will operate your device, and the macro is recorded in real-time.
- Once the streaming service has started on your device, hold down the NETTV ? key until the LED indicator blinks twice and goes out. The macro is now stored.
Tips for Programming:
- Ensure the Evolve remote is operating the device correctly before programming.
- If the macro does not work as expected, you can repeat the sequence to reprogram it.
- When programming, wait for your device to respond before proceeding to the next step; the remote will remember the timing.
