Introduction
This guide takes you through the process of replacing the color touch screen and digitizer for the Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal Remote Control.
Step 1 - Screen Type
Visual Description: An image shows the Logitech Harmony 1100 remote control, displaying its color touch screen interface with various application icons like "Watch TV", "Watch a DVD", "Listen to Music", "Listen to Radio", "Play Game", and "Activities". The remote has physical buttons for navigation and volume control.
- Note that there are two generations of this remote and you will need to disassemble the remote to find which generation you have.
- Generation 1: Prior to mid-2010 the touch screen and LCD was manufactured by Foxconn with the model number of PT035TN01 V6.
- Generation 2: Late-2010 and on the touch screen and LCD was manufactured by Tianma with the model number of TM035KBZ17.
- Parts for this remote can be found at www.harmonyremoterepair.com/H1100.

Step 3 - Screw Removal

- Remove the three Phillips screws from the battery cavity.
- Open the tab covering the USB slot. Remove the Phillips screw. Note that this screw is slightly smaller than the three in the previous step.
Step 4 - Clip Release

- Take your triangle pry opener (a guitar pick works as well) and insert into one of the two slots at the bottom of the remote. Rotate slightly to separate the face from the back. You should hear the clips release with a "click".
- Insert the opener into the next slot and rotate slightly.
- Insert the opener between the face and back of the remote (in the space you have now created by releasing the bottom) and rotate slightly, moving around the edge of the remote as the back begins to separate from the front.
Step 5 - Opening the Remote

- Once the back is completely released from the front, set the remote vertically with the charging terminals on your work surface and carefully separate the two halves.
- The ribbon wire for the touch screen and LCD will still be connected, so be sure not to pull the bottom apart.
- Note that there are two pads set into the back of the face at the top of the remote. Be sure not to lose these as they are not secured and note their placement.
- The USB cover is only secured by a slot on the side of the remote. Sometimes this will fall off, so make sure to not lose it and be sure to put it back in place upon reassembly.
Step 6 - Releasing the Logic Board
Visual Description: Placeholder image for releasing the logic board.
- Remove the black plastic cover that is over top of the back of the screen.
- Remove the three Phillips screws from the logic board.
- Optional: Remove the button logic board by carefully prying the plastic safety open and sliding the ribbon wire out.
Step 7 - Screen Removal
Visual Description: Placeholder image for screen removal.
- The connector for the screen is on the back of the logic board, so you have to lift the logic board, being careful of the connections to the charging terminals at the bottom of the remote. They are still connected, and if you break one of these, you will need to solder them back together in order for your remote to charge.
- Once the logic board is lifted, you will see the ribbon wire connector. It has a safety latch that you need to pry open in order to release the screen's ribbon wire.
- Once released, the screen's ribbon wire will release, and you can begin the reassembly process.
