Battery Installation
Please refer to the illustration for battery installation, noting the positive [+] and negative [-] poles. After installation, place the auxiliary strap back into the battery compartment and close the battery cover. To remove the battery, gently pull the auxiliary strap.
The device shows a "Boot page" after battery installation. Short press the button to turn on, entering metal detection mode. The detector will display its status on the LCD screen.
Modes of Operation
Metal Detection: Ferrous Metal
The maximum detection depth for ferrous metals is 120mm (approximately 4-3/4 inches). For optimal accuracy, use when the measured object is a standard steel-reinforced copper pipe with a diameter of 18mm. Move the detector at a constant speed of ≤ 6cm/s.
The detector displays a magnetic metal icon when detecting ferrous metals. When an object is detected, a yellow or red indicator light illuminates. The percentage display on the screen gradually increases as the edge of the object is detected, reaching 100% at the center point.
Metal Detection: Non-magnetic Metal
The maximum detection depth for non-magnetic metals (like copper) is 80mm (approximately 3-1/8 inches). When the center is detected, a buzzer will sound. The detection method is the same as for ferrous metals.
The detector displays a non-magnetic metal icon when detecting non-magnetic metals. Similar to ferrous metal detection, indicator lights (yellow or red) illuminate when an object is detected, and the percentage display increases towards the center.
Wood Stud Detection
This mode is suitable for detection on gypsum boards. Detection requires the device to be held lightly close to and always in contact with the wall. Move the detector at a constant speed of ≤ 4cm/s.
To switch between "exact" and "deep" detection modes, long press the Wood Studs Button for 3 seconds. The green light will flash, and a beep will sound.
Interpreting indicators in wood mode:
- When the detector displays a magnetic metal symbol, it generally indicates steel.
- When the detector displays a non-magnetic metal symbol, it generally indicates a wire or copper tube.
- When the detector does not display a magnetic or non-magnetic metal symbol, it generally indicates an alloy.
When an object is detected, the yellow or red indicator lights up. The percentage display gradually increases as the edge of the object is detected, reaching 100% at the center point.
Alternating Current (AC) Detection
When the AC power symbol on the detector flashes, it signifies that AC power is nearby. AC power can be detected simultaneously with other objects (metal or wood), and the AC power symbol will be displayed.
Warning: If the wall contains live wires, exercise extreme caution. Ensure power, gas, and water are turned off before drilling. The red light flashes and emits a rapid tone when AC power is detected.
Live cables can be detected in both metal mode and foreign object mode (if the cable cross-section is ≥4mm²).
Wire Detection
The maximum detection depth for a live cable is 50mm (approximately 2 inches). If the cable is not charged, the detection depth will be reduced.
Conditions that can affect measurement depth include:
- Detection behind metal
- Detection behind a surface with high water content or humidity
- Detection through concrete, brick, or ceramic surfaces
- Situations where the material has a shielding effect on the live wire signal
Moisture Measurement
Warning: If used incorrectly, the probe tip may cause injury. When the equipment is not in use, always replace the protective cover and keep the tool away from children.
To locate leaks in water pipes within a wall, take measurements at various locations; the leak point is identified where the tool displays the highest reading. The method for building moisture measurement is the same as for wood measurement.
Calibration Note: After a significant change in ambient temperature, wait at least 30 minutes for the measurement to ensure accuracy.
Measurement Process:
- Remove the probe cover.
- Place the probe on the measurement surface without applying excessive force.
Working Humidity Range:
- Ferrous metals: 0-85% RH
- Foreign object mode: 0-60% RH
- Alternating current mode: 0-30% RH
Conditions to Avoid: Avoid direct sunlight, avoid moisture, avoid wearing jewelry, and avoid placing the device close to home appliances.
Calibration
To ensure the accuracy of measurement data, the probe must be inserted into the measurement material during measurement and maintain good contact.
Metal Mode Calibration
At the current position (whether on the wall or in the air), press and hold the metal button for 5 seconds. The green light will turn on again, indicating successful calibration.
Cable Mode Calibration
If the device emits an alarm sound in every corner of the room, this may be due to high humidity or strong static electricity on the wall. To calibrate, at the current position (on the wall or in the air), long press the button. The green light will turn on again, and the signal strength percentage will display 0%. Release the button to continue detection.
Wood Mode Calibration
Attach the device to the wall in an area confirmed to be free of objects for calibration (when there is no object, the display percentage should show 0% and no AC icon). Long press the wood mode button for 2 seconds. The green light will light up again, and a beep will sound. Release the button to continue detection.
