General Description

The Pinguino is a versatile air conditioner capable of operating via water condensation or air condensation. Users can select the operational method:

  • WATER FUNCTION: Offers excellent efficiency, lower energy consumption, and faster achievement of ideal climatic conditions. This is particularly useful when the appliance is first turned on or when the room temperature is high. When the water reserve is depleted, the Pinguino automatically switches to air functioning mode.

Installation for Air-Conditioning Function

This air-conditioner is portable and versatile, suitable for permanent installation or easy relocation between rooms.

  • Placement: The appliance must be placed at least 30 cm away from surrounding walls. Diagrams illustrate this 30 cm clearance requirement.
  • Permanent Installation: Air discharged from the rear hose is expelled from the room. Ensure the room is not completely airtight to prevent pressure drops that could cause malfunctions. Air entering through door/window cracks is usually sufficient. If needed, leave a door slightly ajar (approx. 1 cm gap).
  • Temporary Installation: The unit can be used in any room with a window or French window. This temporary setup is suitable until permanent installation is ready.
  • Surface: Ensure the unit rests on a perfectly level surface. Use the 2 castor stops for the front castors if necessary.
  • Permanent Installation with Plug and Flange: Outlet holes must connect to the outside. Diagrams show methods for installation in a window pane (Ø 95 mm), through a wooden base-section of a glass door, or in a wall. The height of the outlet should be within a specified range (min. 30 cm, max. 120 cm). When not in use, the outlet hole should be sealed with the supplied stopper.
  • Temporary Installation Methods: Diagrams show various ways to connect outlet holes, including using a fixed hook.
  • Efficiency Advice: For maximum cooling efficiency, keep the window as closed as possible. Keep the outlet free of obstructions. Partially lower blinds or shutters to reduce direct sunlight and minimize indoor/outdoor air exchange.

Installation for Heating Function (Model CT300H)

For heating, the unit is simply placed in the room, and the discharge hose does not need to be installed.

Electrical Connections

  • The mains supply must be suitable for domestic electrical appliances and match the air conditioner's power requirements (refer to Technical Data table).
  • Verify the power supply voltage is 220/240 V - 50 Hz.
  • Ensure the mains socket is correctly earthed.

Note: If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced only by authorized specialized personnel.

This appliance complies with Radio Interference Requirements provided by Council Directive EN 55014.

Preparing the Unit for Use

  1. Fit the exhaust tube: If supplied with a bayonet fitting, install as illustrated in the diagram.
  2. Permanent Installation Placement: Position the appliance near the wall or window outlet. Ensure it's on a level surface and fit the special shock absorbers/castor stops under the castors.
  3. Exhaust Hose: The exhaust hose can be compressed or extended between 500 mm and 1400 mm. It is best used at its minimum length; never stretch the hose.

How to Prepare Water Container

Use only clean, salt-free tap water. Water is essential for air cooling and is discharged as steam through the exhaust outlet. A full container typically lasts 7 to 10 hours, depending on conditions. When empty, the appliance automatically switches to air function, and air discharge from the rear hose increases.

  • To prepare: Open the water container compartment door, tip the container forward, and lift it out. Remove the cap, pull out the extendable tube, and fill the container while it's on the floor. Replace the tube, screw the cap tightly, and return the container, ensuring the word 'FRONT' faces outwards.
  • Noise: During the 'water condensation' cooling function, a slight gurgling noise may be heard in quiet surroundings, which is considered normal.
  • Attention: Do not use water containing cooking salt or decalcified water obtained using certain salts.

Air Cooling Function & Final Check

If the air cooling function is selected, filling the water container is not necessary.

Final Check for Maximum Performance:

  • Ensure doors and windows in the room are closed (except for temporary installation where a window may be partially open). Visual cues: CLOSE THE WINDOWS, CLOSE THE DOORS.
  • Shade the room from direct sunlight by drawing curtains or lowering blinds/shutters to avoid excessive energy consumption. Visual cues: DRAW THE CURTAINS, LOWER THE BLINDS.
  • Ensure intake and outlet vents are free of obstructions at all times.
  • Confirm there are no sources of heat in the room. Visual cue: DO NOT COVER.

The air-conditioner is now ready for use. Proceed to check the controls.

Control Panel (Mod. CT300H)

The control panel features several key components:

  • ON/OFF button: Powers the unit on/off.
  • ON/OFF pilot light: Indicates the unit's power status.
  • Thermostat: Adjusts the desired temperature. It is represented by a line increasing in thickness, indicating colder settings.
  • Selecting fan speed button (B): Adjusts the fan speed.
  • Air-conditioning/heating button (C): Selects the operating mode (cooling or heating).
  • Heating pilot light: Indicates when the heating function is active.
  • Timer ON/OFF pilot light: Indicates when the timer function is active.
  • Timer notches: On the programmer/timer dial, used to set operating times.

Setting the Timer

The programmer/timer must be set to the exact current time. To set the time, turn the dial clockwise until the correct hour aligns with the triangular pointer. For example, for 4:00 PM (16:00), align '16' with the pointer. Note: Never turn the dial counter-clockwise. The timer operates as an electric clock and requires the plug to be connected to the power supply. Power failures will cause the clock to stop and require resetting.

Programmed Mode

  1. Position the timer switch to 'TIMER ON' (the corresponding warning light will illuminate).
  2. Set operating times by pushing out the notches on the dial. Each notch represents 15 minutes.
  3. Verify the timer indicates the correct time.
  4. Select the desired function (air-conditioning or heating) as per the chart. The unit will then switch on and off daily at the set times.
  5. Note: To override programmed times, simply press the ON/OFF key.

Non-Programmed Mode

If programmed operation is not desired, ensure the TIMER switch is in the 'OFF' position.
