Compatibility Check
Before starting the cooler assembly, compare your graphics card with the images in the Alphacool configurator at www.hwconfig.com. You can search for your graphics card or cooler model. For definitive identification, compare the PCB number. The cooler is designed for a specific PCB layout. Manufacturers may revise card designs, potentially affecting cooler fitment on later models. Ensure sufficient clearance for taller components and that the cooler does not damage the graphics card. Alphacool International GmbH is not liable for assembly errors due to negligence, such as selecting an incompatible cooler.
Prepare Graphics Card
Place the hardware on an antistatic mat. Begin dismantling the original cooler. Remove screws at the back of the card and carefully unhook the fan connector first. If the original cooler uses thermal glue, exercise extreme care to avoid damaging parts. Carefully pick up all items. Clean the hardware of thermal paste or pad residues using a solvent like isopropanol alcohol.
Mounting the IO Shield
Attach the slot cover as shown using the 2 M3x5 screws and M3 nuts. [Visual: Diagram showing the attachment of the IO shield.]
Mounting the Front Pads
Clean the contact surfaces on the bottom side of the cooler with alcohol or a similar solvent. The surface must be free of contaminants. Remove the protective foils from the thermal pads and place the pads on the copper block as shown in the diagram. [Visual: Diagram illustrating the placement of thermal pads on the copper block.]
Applying Thermal Paste
Apply a thin layer of thermal paste to the GPU using a plastic strip or similar tool. The layer should be less than a millimeter thick to prevent contamination of surrounding components. [Visual: Diagram showing correct (thin layer) and incorrect (too thick) thermal paste application.]
Mounting the Graphics Card
Place the graphics card onto the prepared cooler. Fasten the card using the 8 M2x5 screws with M2 washers. Hand-tighten the screws crosswise, one turn at a time.
Mounting the Backpads
Remove the protective foils from the thermal pads and place the pads on the PCB as shown in the diagram. [Visual: Diagram showing placement of thermal pads (labeled 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) on the graphics card PCB.]
Mounting the Backplate
Position the backplate onto the card and secure it using the 8 M2x11 screws as shown. [Visual: Diagram showing the attachment of the backplate.]
Connecting the LED
To control the digital-RGB lighting, connect the included adapter to the 3-pin female connector. Plug this into a digital-RGB controller (e.g., Alphacool Aurora Eiscontrol, Art.: 15360, not included). Additional digital-RGB LEDs can be connected to the remaining 3-pin male connector. [Visual: Diagram showing connection of digital-RGB adapter to controller and additional LEDs.]
Closing Inlets
Close any inlets that are not needed for tubing. Screw in the screw plugs using the enclosed tool. ?
