Use Warnings:
- Do not allow children to use the appliance. Close supervision is necessary when used near children.

- Do not use without filters in place.
- Only use Shark® branded filters and accessories. Failure to do so will void the warranty.

Additional Safety Precautions:
- Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

- Turn off all controls before plugging in or unplugging.
- Unplug when not in use and before any maintenance or cleaning.
- Hand wash filters with water only. Washing with cleaning chemicals could damage the unit.
- During cleaning or maintenance, do not cut anything other than hair, fibers, or string wrapped around the brushroll.
- Allow all filters to air-dry completely before replacing to prevent liquid from being drawn into electric parts.

Brushroll Indicator Light
Solid Green: Brushroll is on and working correctly.
Solid Red: Jam in the brushroll area. Turn off vacuum and remove blockage.
Flashing Red: Motorized floor nozzle is overheating. Turn off vacuum, let it cool, and rotate the suction release collar counterclockwise to reduce suction.
No Light: Brushroll is off.
Assembly
- Place the floor nozzle on a level surface. Align the opening on the Lift-Away® pod with the tube on the floor nozzle and lower the pod until it clicks into place. Ensure the latching mechanism is fully locked for electrical connection.
- Attach the end of the extension wand to the tube on the back of the Lift-Away pod until it clicks.
- Slide the accessory holder over the extension wand, aligning the tab with the groove and pushing down.
- Insert the handle into the top of the extension wand until it clicks.
- Store the dusting brush and crevice tool on the accessory holder mounts.
Usage
- Gently press the floor nozzle down with your foot while grasping the handle and tilting it back. The brushroll will not spin unless the nozzle is flat and the handle is tilted back.
- When finished vacuuming, turn the vacuum off.
- You can carry your vacuum cleaner in both modes by the carry handle on top of the dust cup.
Suction Release Collar:
To adjust suction, rotate the collar on the handle. Rotate counterclockwise to open the valve and reduce suction. Rotate clockwise to close the valve and increase suction.
Above-Floor Cleaning
- Separate the portable Lift-Away pod from the floor nozzle by pressing the red release button and pulling the pod up.
- Press the handle release button and pull the handle up, or press the extension wand release button and pull the extension wand up.
- Attach the desired accessory onto the end of the extension wand or handle.
- Press the On/Off switch to the "I" position (suction only) for above-floor cleaning. Note: Do not use position "II" (brushroll on) when cleaning above the floor in upright mode, as the brushroll may damage floors.
Maintenance
Recommended Cleaning Schedule:
- Dust Cup: Empty after each use.
- Pre-Motor Filter Kit (XFF350 - Foam & Felt): Clean every 3 months.
- Post-Motor Filter (XHF350 - HEPA): Clean every 2 years.
Note: Hand wash filters with water only. Allow all filters to air-dry completely (at least 24 hours) before replacing. Do not use a hair dryer or other heating methods.
Emptying the Dust Cup
- Undo the latches on the sides of the dust cup and remove it from the motor base.
- Hold the dust cup over a trash receptacle and press the bottom-door release button. Tap gently to empty. Press the door shut.
- If needed, turn the dust cup upside down and press the top-door release button. Tap gently to empty. Use a dry cloth or paper towel to remove debris from the screen filter. Press the door shut.
- Replace the dust cup on the motor base, hooking the latches onto the tabs and pushing down to lock.
Cleaning the Pre-Motor Filters
- Remove the dust cup.
- Pull the 2 filters out from the top of the motor base.
- Rinse the filters thoroughly in lukewarm water until the water runs clear.
- Squeeze out excess water and let air-dry for at least 24 hours.
- Place the felt filter in first, then the foam filter.
- Replace the dust cup.
Note: Do not put filters in the washing machine or dishwasher. Filter material may discolor over time, which is normal and does not affect performance.
Cleaning the Post-Motor HEPA Filter
- Remove the filter cover from the front of the vacuum by pulling up on the tab. Take out the HEPA filter.
- Tap the filter clean against a garbage can.
- Rinse with lukewarm water, dirty side down, until water runs clear. Allow to air-dry for 24 hours.
- Replace the dry HEPA filter back into the vacuum.
- Replace the cover by inserting the tabs into the holes at the top and swinging the cover down until it clicks.
Cleaning the Air-Driven Pet Brush
- Slide the locking latch forward and gently tilt the brush housing upward to remove.
- Carefully remove any blockage or debris. Use scissors to cut away hair or string buildup around the brush.
- To reassemble, insert the tabs on the front edge of the bottom cover into the matching holes in the top half and tilt it back down until it clicks.
Cleaning the Motorized Floor Nozzle
The motorized floor nozzle automatically shuts down if it overheats or locks onto an object. The indicator light will turn red. Turn off and unplug the vacuum, disconnect the nozzle, and clear any blockage. The light will reset after power is cycled or the vacuum is locked upright.
- Detach the motorized floor nozzle from the portable Lift-Away® pod.
- Inspect the opening underneath and the brushroll for debris. Remove any buildup and use scissors to cut away anything wound around the brushroll.
Checking for Blockages
Blockages can cause overheating and shutdown. Check potential blockage areas after heavy use, or if suction is lost.
- Detach the stretch hose from the back of the pod by squeezing the tabs and pulling up. Check the hose and pod openings.
- Remove the dust cup and extension wand, and separate the pod from the nozzle. Check all openings for blockages.
- Detach the hose on the motorized floor nozzle at the top (squeeze tabs and pull) and at the bottom (pull connector). Check all openings for blockages.
Troubleshooting
Vacuum is not picking up debris. No suction or light suction.
- Check filters; clean if necessary.
- Empty the dust cup.
- Check hose, connections, wand, nozzles, and accessories for blockages.
- Remove hair or fibers wrapped around the brushroll.
- Rotate the suction release collar clockwise to increase suction.
Vacuum lifts area rugs.
- Turn off the unit to disengage the brushroll. Move the switch to position "I" (bare floors) for suction-only cleaning.
- Reduce suction by rotating the suction release collar counterclockwise.
Brushroll does not spin.
- If the Brushroll Indicator Light is red, turn off and unplug the vacuum, disconnect the nozzle, and remove the blockage.
- With the power on, recline the handle to automatically turn on the brushroll.
- Ensure the On/Off switch is set to position "II" (Brushroll ON).
Vacuum turns off on its own or indicator light flashes red.
This vacuum has a motor-protective thermostat. If it overheats, the thermostat automatically shuts off the suction motor.
To restart the thermostat:
- Turn off and unplug the vacuum.
- Empty the dust cup and clean filters.
- Check for blockages in the hose, accessories, and inlet openings.
- Allow the unit to cool for at least 45 minutes.
- Plug in and turn on the vacuum.
If the hose is not fully connected to the pod, it can cause a poor electrical connection and the hose can come loose, turning the vacuum off.
Ensure proper connections:
- Turn off and unplug the vacuum.
- Empty dust cup and clean filters.
- Check for blockages.
- Remove the cord from the cord hook so the hose latch is visible.
- Ensure hose, wand, and handle are securely clicked into place at all connection points.
- Plug in and turn on the vacuum.
If the vacuum still does not start, contact Customer Service at 1-800-798-7398.
