Blue-White F-400 Series In-Line Flowmeter

This document provides installation, maintenance, and warranty information for the Blue-White F-400 Series In-Line Flowmeter.

Product Overview

Your Blue-White® F-400 Series In-Line Flowmeter is designed for easy installation. Please read this guideline before proceeding.

Note: Plastic tubing inserted into the flowmeter prevents shipping damage. Remove this tubing before installation.

The flowmeter is manufactured by Blue-White Industries, a company established in 1957, and is ISO 9001:2015 certified. It is made in the USA.

A clear, vertical tube flowmeter, identified as the Blue-White F-400. It features a scale marked in Gallons Per Minute (GPM) and Liters Per Minute (LPM), ranging from 2 to 20 GPM and 5 to 20 LPM respectively. A float is visible inside the tube, indicating the flow rate. The lower section shows threaded connection fittings and text stating it is calibrated with water for a liquid specific gravity of 1.0. The unit is made in the USA.

Installation Guide

  1. Install the flowmeter in a vertical plane for accurate readings. Misalignment can damage the unit and cause leaks.

  2. Use only PTFE tape on threaded adapters. Avoid pipe dope and glue, as they can damage the polysulfone meter body and fittings. If using glued fittings, ensure they are dry and fumes are purged before installing the flowmeter.

  3. Mounts and supports must be sturdy to prevent vibration and support the plumbing. Vibration and heavy loads can damage the meter.

  4. Avoid sudden bursts of flow. Solenoid valves can cause damage. A sudden surge can force the float against the top stop with destructive force.

  5. Maximum fluid temperature is dependent on working pressure. High pressure and temperature can damage the meter. Refer to the Temperature vs. Pressure chart.

Temperature vs. Pressure Chart

A line graph illustrating the relationship between temperature and pressure, showing decreasing allowable temperature as pressure increases. The Y-axis displays temperature from 70°F/21.1°C to 150°F/65.6°C, and the X-axis displays Pressure (PSIg / BAR) from 0/0 to 150/10.3.

Numbered callouts (1-5) highlight key installation points: the vertical orientation (1), threaded adapter connection (2), sturdy mounting and support (3), avoiding sudden flow bursts (4), and referencing the temperature vs. pressure chart (5).
