QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE

Product Layout

The Hytera HYT-P50 radio features the following components:

  • Top: Emergency Key, LED Indicator, Antenna
  • Left Side: SK Key, PTT Key, Volume + Key, Volume - Key
  • Front: Group Selector Knob, Navigation Key, Menu Key, Answer/Call Key, Speaker, LCD Display, OK Key, Back Key, End/On-Off Key
  • Right Side: Strap Hole, Microphone, Accessory Connector Cover, Belt Clip, Battery Cover
  • Bottom: USB Type-C Port

Before Use

Remove the Battery Cover

To remove the battery cover, use a pry tool to slightly lever the battery cover from the bottom edge and pull it outwards. The battery cover is tightly closed for waterproofing; avoid forceful removal to prevent damage.

Install Nano SIM Card and Micro SD Card

1. Slide the metal covers for the Nano SIM card and Micro SD card slots towards the open arrow direction and flip them up.

2. Insert the Nano SIM card and Micro SD card into their respective slots.

3. Slide the metal covers back into place and towards the lock arrow until they are secured.

Attach Battery

Insert the battery into the battery slot, ensuring correct orientation. Then, replace the battery cover.

CAUTION: Use only approved batteries to avoid explosion risk. Dispose of used batteries according to safety guidelines.

Attach Audio Accessory

1. Rotate the screw of the accessory connector cover counterclockwise to remove it.

2. Align the audio accessory plug with the connector and rotate the screw clockwise to secure it.

CAUTION: Close the accessory connector cover after removing the accessory to prevent short circuits or contact corrosion.

Attach Belt Clip

1. Align the belt clip with the groove on the back of the radio.

2. Press the belt clip downwards until it locks into place.

Charging the Battery

Connect the radio to a power adapter, power bank, or computer using a USB Type-C cable to charge the battery. The charging status can be monitored via the battery icon on the LCD display.

CAUTION: Charge and use the battery within 0°C to 45°C. Replace batteries promptly when low battery alerts appear or if they are aged/abnormal. Remove the battery if the radio is stored long-term and charge/discharge it every six months.

NOTE: Lithium-ion battery power is limited to 30% for air transport as per IATA regulations. Use only CE-certified power adapters or data cables.

Basic Operations

Turn On/Off the Radio

To turn on: Long press the End/On-Off key for three seconds.

To turn off: Long press the End/On-Off key and select 'Power Off'.

Restart the Radio

Long press the End/On-Off key and select 'Restart'.

Adjust the Volume

Press the Volume + key to increase volume; press the Volume - key to decrease volume.

Switch Screen Between Wakeup and Sleep

To wake up the screen: Press the End/On-Off key, PTT key, Emergency key, OK key, Menu key, Answer/Call key, Back key, or rotate the Group Selector Knob.

To put the screen to sleep: Press the SK key (if programmed for sleep) or the End/On-Off key.

Lock or Unlock the Screen

To lock the screen:

  • Manual lock: Short press the End/On-Off key.
  • Auto-lock: The screen locks automatically after a period of inactivity.

To unlock the screen:

  • Key unlock: Press the Menu key, then press the Answer/Call key.
  • None: Short press the End/On-Off key.

NOTE: The unlock mode can be configured via Menu > Settings > Security > Screen lock.

Connect to the Network

Mobile Data

Navigate to Menu > Settings > Network > Mobile network and turn on Mobile network.

NOTE: Ensure the Nano SIM card is registered with the carrier.

WLAN

Navigate to Menu > Settings > Network > WLAN, turn on WLAN, select a network, and enter the password if required.

Switch the Group

Rotate the Group Selector Knob to switch between communication groups.

Check the Radio Information

Navigate to Menu > Settings > Device > About to view the radio model, serial number, and other details.

PoC Services

PoC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) enables group or private voice calls over cellular networks.

Initiate a Group Call

1. Open the PoC application.

2. Rotate the Group Selector Knob to select the desired group.

3. Press and hold the PTT key to speak; release it after speaking.

Initiate a Private Call

1. Open the PoC application.

2. Select a contact from the list or call logs.

3. For calls:

  • Half-duplex: Press and hold the PTT key to speak, release after speaking.
  • Full-duplex: Speak directly without pressing the PTT key.
