Pairing Buttons to Your In-Home System
This guide provides instructions for pairing your Bay Alarm Medical Personal Help Buttons and Wall Buttons with your In-Home System Base Unit.
Which System Do You Have?
Every In-Home System includes a Personal Help Button automatically paired to the Base Unit. Additional buttons, such as extra Personal Help Buttons or Wall Buttons, may need to be paired by the customer if purchased separately. To ensure your new button functions correctly, follow the pairing instructions specific to your Base Unit model. The Landline and 4G Cellular Base Units can be identified by the ports and buttons on their rear panels.
Landline Base Unit Rear Panel Features: Typically includes ports labeled "WALL" and "PHONE", and buttons labeled "RESET" and "T/L".
4G Cellular Base Unit Rear Panel Features: Typically includes buttons labeled "#1", "O/I", "RESET", and "MODE".
In-Home System - Landline
Pairing Personal Help Buttons (Landline)
Your Personal Help Button must be paired to your Landline Base Unit and tested to ensure it works. Follow these steps:
- On the rear of the Base Unit, press the white T/L button once.
- Then, press the large, red HELP button on top of the Base Unit once.
- Press your Personal Help Button once.
- On the rear of the Base Unit, press the black RESET button once. Now, test your Personal Help Button by pressing it once. Wait for the unit to connect to the monitoring center and advise the dispatcher that you are testing.
- If you have any Wall Buttons to pair, follow the instructions on the next page. After pairing all buttons, perform a Range Test (detailed below) to check for areas where the button may not work.
Pairing Wall Buttons (Landline)
Your Wall Button must be paired to your Landline Base Unit and tested to ensure it works. Follow these steps:
- On the rear of the Base Unit, press the white T/L button once.
- Then, press the large, red HELP button on top of the Base Unit twice. Listen for the unit to say "Group 2." If you do not hear "Group 2," press the RESET button and restart from Step 1.
- Press your Wall Button once. You should hear one [beep] indicating the unit and button are paired.
- On the rear of the Base Unit, press the black RESET button once. Now, test your Wall Button by pressing it once. Wait for the unit to connect to the monitoring center and advise the dispatcher that you are testing.
- After pairing all your buttons, perform a Range Test (detailed below) to identify areas where the button may not work.
Range Test: Testing The Range of Your Buttons (Landline)
Test the range of your buttons to ensure they function correctly throughout your home and yard. It is helpful to have a second person assist: one person stays by the Base Unit, and the other person presses the button.
- On the rear of the Base Unit, press the T/L button one time. The unit will announce, "Range Test Mode."
- Immediately press and hold down the button you are testing. A steady [tone] will sound from the Base Unit, indicating it is detecting the button.
- For Personal Help Buttons, walk around all areas of your home and yard while holding the button down. Listen for the steady [tone] from the Base Unit. For Wall Buttons, hold the button down in the specific area where you intend to place it. Note any areas where the [tone] stops. These stops indicate that the button may not be able to call for help in that location.
- Once all areas have been tested, stop pressing the button. Then, press the black RESET button on the rear of the Base Unit. The unit will announce, "System Ready." If signal stops were detected, try relocating your Base Unit or the interfering object and repeat the test, or contact your service provider.
Note: Metal objects, mirrors, aluminum siding, and electronic devices (e.g., clock radios, televisions, microwaves) may interfere with the signal reaching your Base Unit. Relocating your Base Unit or the interfering object might improve performance.
