Safety Considerations

⚠️ WARNING: Failure to follow any of WARNING is likely to result in such grave consequences as death or serious injury.

? CAUTION: Failure to follow any of CAUTION may in some cases result in grave consequences.

General Safety Warnings

  • Installation shall be left to the authorized dealer or another trained professional. Improper installation may cause water leakage, electrical shock, fire, or equipment damage.
  • Be sure to use the supplied or exact specified installation parts. Use of other parts may cause the unit to fall, water leakage, electrical shock, fire, or equipment damage.
  • Be sure to switch off the unit before touching any electrical parts.
  • Be sure to install a ground fault circuit interrupter / earth leakage circuit breaker. Failure to do so may result in electrical shock, fire, or personal injury.

Specific Safety Cautions

  • Do not install the air conditioner where gas leakage would be exposed to open flames. If gas leaks and builds up around the unit, it may catch fire.
  • Touch a nearby metal object (e.g., doorknob, aluminum sash) to discharge static electricity from your body before touching this set. Static electricity can damage the set.
  • Lay cables separately from other power cables. Poor wiring may cause external electrical noise.
  • After completing installation, test the unit for installation errors. Provide the user with adequate instructions for use and cleaning according to the Operation Manual.

Outline / Features

This set acts as an interface connecting a central control device to a room air conditioner. It enables operations and monitoring in conjunction with the central control device, using optional components KRP413AB1S or KRP928BB2S.

Supported Operations:

  • Starting and stopping the air conditioner, and setting the mode and temperature via the central control device or wired remote controller. (Temperature ranges: COOL 18°C to 32°C (64°F to 90°F); HEAT 14°C to 28°C (57°F to 82°F); FAN mode has no temperature restriction.)
  • Monitoring operating conditions, errors, and error contents of the air conditioner through the central control device or wired remote controller.
  • Restricting air conditioner operation (start/stop, mode change, temperature setting) via the central control device, coin timer, or card key, even when a wireless remote controller is nearby.
  • Zone control through the central control device.
  • Restoring air conditioner operating conditions to their state before a power outage upon power recovery.

Unsupported Functions:

  • Group control (controlling multiple indoor units with a single remote controller).
  • Monitoring of: Indoor temperature, operating conditions of thermo, compressor, indoor fan, electric heater, and humidifier.
  • Control of: Forced thermo OFF, filter sign display and reset, airflow direction, airflow rate setting, and air-conditioner charge management.
  • Energy-saving command, low-noise command, and demand command.

Installation Procedure

Installation Position

Diagram shows the main component and its electrical wiring box positioned near the indoor unit, with a connection to the central control device.

Wiring Outline

Diagram illustrates wiring from the indoor unit PCB to 'This set', then to the central control device. Optional components KRP413AB1S/KRP928BB2S are noted. Thick lines indicate wires not included.

Removal and Installation of Front Panel

Removal Method

  1. Place fingers in the indentations on the left and right sides of the main unit and open the panel until it stops.
  2. Continue opening the front panel while sliding it left and pulling it towards yourself to disengage the rotating shaft on the left side. For the right side, slide the panel right and pull towards yourself to disengage the rotating shaft.

Diagrams show finger placement for opening the front panel, sliding motion to disengage the rotating shaft, and alignment for re-installation.

Installation Method

  1. Align the rotating shaft of the front panel with the grooves and push it in fully.
  2. Close the panel slowly. Push firmly on both sides and the center of the lower surface of the panel.

Diagram illustrates aligning the rotating shaft with the groove and pushing the panel closed.

Opening Service Lid of Indoor Unit

The service lid is removable.

Opening Method

  1. Remove the single screw securing the service lid.
  2. Pull the service lid forward.

Diagram shows the location of the screw and the action of pulling the service lid forward.

Removal and Installation of Front Grille

Removal Method

  1. Remove the front panel.
  2. Remove the air filter.
  3. Remove the two screws from the front grille.
  4. Disengage three hooks located at the top of the grille (identified by a mark area).

Diagrams show the "mark area" for the three hooks at the top of the grille and the location of screws. It also depicts the process of pushing down and pulling the grille forward.

Special Note: When working in tight spaces near the ceiling

? CAUTION: Be sure to wear protection gloves.

Disengage the flap (horizontal blade), then pull the lower part of the front grille towards yourself to remove it. If difficult, place both hands under the center of the front grille, push up, and then pull towards yourself.

Diagram illustrates pushing up and pulling towards oneself to remove the grille, especially in confined spaces.

Installation Method

  1. Install the front grille, firmly engaging the three upper hooks.
  2. Insert the two screws for the front grille.
  3. Install the air filter, then mount the front panel.

Removal of Electrical Wiring Box Cover

  1. Remove the front panel, front grille, and service lid of the indoor unit (refer to previous sections for details).
  2. Remove the electrical wiring box cover.

⚠️ WARNING: Be sure to turn OFF the power at the time of installation work. Touching any electric parts with the power turned ON may cause electric shock.

Diagram shows the electrical wiring box and indicates hooks for cover removal. Note: Installation may proceed without cover removal if workspace allows.

After connecting the HA PCB (this set), return all removed parts to their original positions.

Removal of Electrical Wiring Box

If there is workspace on the right-hand side of the indoor unit, installation work can be conducted without removing the electrical wiring box. Connect HA without removing the box if possible.

  1. Disconnect the inter-unit wire.
  2. Disconnect the fan motor connector (S200) and swing motor connector (S6).
  3. Disconnect the thermistor and ground/earth wire from the heat exchanger (requires removing 2 screws). Note: Some models may not have a ground/earth wire.
  4. Remove the mounting screw of the electrical wiring box (1 screw).

Diagrams detail disconnection points for inter-unit wire, fan motor (S200), swing motor (S6), thermistor, and ground/earth wires. Mounting screw for the box is also shown. Note: Ground/earth wire position varies; thermistor bracket must remain attached.

After connecting the HA PCB (this set), return all removed parts to their original positions.

Connecting HA PCB

1. Install the HA PCB (this set)

  1. Install the HA PCB (this set) into the electrical wiring box.
  2. Insert the connector of the HA PCB (this set) into the connector (S403) on the electrical wiring box.

Diagrams (Fig. 1) show the connection points for the HA PCB, including the S403 connector on the electrical wiring box and the HA PCB itself. It illustrates inserting a cord into the S403 connector. Another diagram shows the back of the HA PCB with a spacer, indicating mounting points within the electrical wiring box.

2. Connect the HA connection cord

  1. Insert the HA connection cord into the HA connector "S21" (white) on the HA PCB (this set).
  2. Route the HA connection cord as shown in Fig. 2.

Diagram (Fig. 2) illustrates the routing of the HA connection cord from the HA PCB to the electrical wiring box, showing the "S21" (white) connector on the HA PCB.

After connecting the HA PCB (this set), return all removed parts to their original positions.
