Q. Which models are affected by the recall?
This recall involves the following models of Char-Broil Gas Patio Bistro grills:
- Patio Bistro 180 Table Top Grill - Model 12601713 and 13601833.
- Patio Bistro 240 Full Size Grill - Models 11601558, 11601558-A1, 12601558, 12601558-A2, 11601579, and 12601579.
Q. Why is the firm conducting this recall?
This voluntary recall is being conducted because if the burner flame goes out and the consumer turns the control knob to "OFF," the electronic ignition may unexpectedly ignite accumulated propane, posing a burn hazard.
Q. Have there been any reports of fires or injuries?
Yes, there has been one report of a consumer's clothing catching on fire. Eleven reports of minor burns and/or singed hair have been received.
Q. How can I tell if my grill is affected by the recall?
Check the identification label on the back of the grill, at the bottom, which states "CharBroil, LLC." along with the model number and other information. Only models 11601579, 11601558, 11601558-A1, 12601558, 12601558-A2, 12601579, 12601713, and 13601833 are included. Electric Patio Bistro grills are NOT included in this recall.
Q. How can I participate in the recall?
You can order a free repair kit by calling 1-866-239-6777. The repair kit will include a replacement ignition module, instructions for disabling the existing ignition switch and installing the new ignition module, and a telephone number to call if you have questions about the repair.
Q. I no longer have the receipt for the product. Can I still participate in the recall?
Yes. You can participate by ordering a free repair kit. No receipt is necessary.
Q. How long will it take to get my free repair kit?
It is expected that in most cases, a free repair kit will be received in about 7 to 10 working days after the order is processed.
Q. My grill appears to be operating okay. Can I continue to use it?
No. Please stop using the grill and order a free replacement part. You can begin using the grill again once you install the replacement part.
