In the box
- Dyson upright vacuum cleaner with bin attached.
- Motorbar™ cleaner head: Features a brush bar inside and a suction control slider on the front.
- Handle: Supplied separately, with a triangular grip and a cable clip on the front.
- Tool holder: A plastic clip designed to fit behind the bin for holding the combination tool.
- Wand
- Combination tool: A versatile tool combining a brush head and a crevice tool. The brush head slides down the crevice tool when needed.
- Stair tool: For vacuuming narrow or difficult-to-reach carpeted areas like stairs and corners.
- Tangle-free turbine tool: Features counter-rotating brush heads to remove hair from carpets and upholstery without tangles.
- Soft dusting brush: Has soft bristles on the underside and a skirt of soft nylon bristles for gentle, vacuum-assisted dusting of delicate objects and surfaces.
- Fabric and mattress tool: Equipped with metal bristles on the underside, this tool removes dust, dirt, and allergens from mattresses and upholstery.
- Pet groom tool: A small cleaner head housing the motor and an electrical connector. It captures loose hair and dander while grooming pets, with flexible bristles that self-clean.
- Articulating hard floor tool: A wide, triangular nozzle with a swivelling brush head and an ultra-slim profile to reach difficult spaces. It uses soft nylon bristles to remove dust and allergens.

Getting started
To start cleaning, lean the handle back. To direct suction to the wand, leave the machine upright.
Power button: Located between the handle and the bin handle. Press [power button] to start cleaning.
Brush bar control button: Located between the handle and the bin handle. Turn off [brush bar control] for delicate floors or deep pile rugs.
Ball technology: Enables easy manoeuvring and steering around furniture with a gentle turn of the wrist. [Description of the ball component].
Motorbar™ cleaner head: Features de-tangling vanes that automatically clear wrapped hair from the brush bar during cleaning. [Description of the brush bar with de-tangling vanes].
High-reach wand with quick release: The hose and wand release in a single action for easy tool changes. [Description of wand release mechanism].
Variable suction control: A slider located at the front of the cleaner head. Adjust the slider to select the appropriate suction level for different tasks: deep- to medium-pile carpets, low-pile carpets and large debris, or hard floors and ground-in dirt.
Assembling your machine
Fit the cleaner head: Lay your machine on its back. Slide the Motorbar™ cleaner head into position on the front of the ball. Push upwards until the red button on the underside of the machine clicks securely into place [✔️]. Stand your machine upright. [Description of cleaner head attachment with audible click].
Fit the wand: Slide the handle onto your machine until it clicks into position [✔️]. Position the wand into the end of the hose. Press the wand release button [release button] on the end of the hose and slide the wand all the way down. Position the wand and hose in the handle recess on your machine. Slide the wand down into the handle until it clicks into position [✔️]. Close the wand end cap. [Description of wand and handle attachment with click sound].
Fit the tool holder: Slide the tool holder into position on the side of your machine. Fit your combination tool onto the holder. Wrap the cable around the top and bottom cable hooks and secure with the cable clip. [Description of tool holder attachment and cable management].
Caring for your floors
Ensure the underside of the cleaner head or tool is clean and free from objects that could cause damage.
Before vacuuming, check the manufacturer's recommended cleaning instructions for your flooring.
The machine's brush bar can damage certain flooring types. If a rotating brush bar causes rug materials to fuzz, it is recommended to vacuum without the motorized floor tool and consult your flooring manufacturer.
Using your Motorbar™ cleaner head
Your cleaner head is equipped with a motor-driven brush bar and suction control. Check manufacturer recommendations for your flooring type.
Slide the suction control to match your floor type.
- Left position: For deep- to medium-pile carpets, delicate flooring, and rugs.
- Center position: For low-pile carpets and large debris.
- Right position: For hard floors and ground-in dirt.
If the machine is difficult to push, use the setting on the left.
Brush bar control: The button is located to the left of the power button. Turn the brush bar ON [brush bar ON] for low pile carpets and OFF [brush bar OFF] for deep pile carpets and delicate flooring.
The suction control slider is located on the front of the cleaner head.
Using your tools
Attach to the wand: Open the cap on the handle and slide the wand upwards [slide wand up] to release it from the machine. Push the tool into the end of the wand. To remove, slide the wand back into the hose and position it in the handle recess.
Attach to the hose: Open the cap on the handle and slide the wand upwards [slide wand up] to release it. Press the button on the end of the hose to release the wand [release wand button]. Fit the tool into the end of the hose. To remove, push the wand into the end of the hose until it clicks [✔️], slide the wand down into the hose, and close the wand end cap.
Tools can be used attached to the wand or hose when cleaning stairs, with the machine placed at the bottom.
Combination tool usage: Press the button on the tool [tool button] and slide the brush down the crevice tool.
Emptying your bin
Empty the bin as soon as the dirt reaches the MAX level indicator [MAX level]; do not overfill. Overfilling may affect performance and require more frequent filter washing.
Remove your bin: Turn off and unplug your machine. Press the button on the bin handle [bin handle button] to detach the bin.
Release the dirt: Hold your bin with the base pointing down over your rubbish container. Firmly push the button on the bin handle [bin handle button] until the bin base opens [base opens]. To minimize dust contact, cover the bin tightly in a dustproof bag while emptying. Carefully remove the bin, seal the bag tightly, and dispose of it.
Refit your bin: Push the bin base up until it closes, clicking into place [✔️]. Position the bottom of your bin on your vacuum cleaner and then push the top into your machine until it clicks securely into place [✔️].
Storing your machine
Carry your machine using the bin handle. Push your handle into the upright position. Push your handle firmly forward and listen for two clicks [✔️✔️] to lock it upright. The stabiliser wheels will drop into position when the handle is locked.
Clearing blockages
If any part of your machine becomes blocked, it may automatically cut out, stopping the power [❌]. Unplug the machine and let it cool before checking for blockages.
Remove cleaner head: Lie your machine on its back. Push down the red button on the bottom of the ball and then slide the cleaner head down and off your machine. [Description of the release button location at the back of the machine between the ball and cleaner head].
Check the wand: Open the cap on the handle and slide the wand upwards [slide wand up] to release it and the hose. Press the button on the end of the hose [hose button] to release the wand. Look through the wand to check for blockages. Check the wand, hose, cleaner head, and airways for blockages.
Check the hose: Release the wand from the hose. Remove the bin. Press the tab on the base of the hose [hose tab] to remove it from your machine. Check for blockages in the hose, being careful of any sharp objects.
Check airways for blockages: Recline your machine and remove the outer cover of the ball. Press the button on the bin handle [bin handle button] and lift the bin away. Locate the clear inspection panel at the bottom of the bin recess on your machine and lift it to one side [lift panel] to remove any debris. Remove the cleaner head and look for blockages in the airway. Check all airways, removing any debris before reassembling your machine. The cuff is located at the back of the machine, just above the ball.
Clearing obstructions from your Motorbar™ cleaner head
Your Motorbar™ cleaner head does not have a washable brush bar. To maintain optimum performance, check your brush bar regularly and clear any obstructions. Unplug and let the machine cool before checking for blockages.
Remove cleaner head: Lie your machine on its back. Push down the red button on the bottom of the ball and slide the cleaner head off. [Description of the release button location at the back of the machine between the ball and cleaner head].
Remove your brush bar: Press the button on the back of the Motorbar™ cleaner head [brush bar button] and push upwards 90° to release the end cap. Pull the brush bar out of the cleaner head. Remove any hair, thread, or debris from around the brush bar. Be careful of any sharp objects when clearing blockages.
Replace your brush bar: Push the brush bar firmly back into the cleaner head, ensuring it is fully inserted. Rotate the end cap until it clicks back into the locked position [✔️].
Fit the cleaner head: Slide your Motorbar™ cleaner head into position on the front of the ball. Push upwards until the red button on the underside of your machine clicks securely into place [✔️].
Washing your filters

Washing filter A
Remove your filter: Press the button on the bin handle [bin handle button] to detach the bin from your machine. Remove the plug from the power source. Push up the catch on the front of the bin handle [catch] and lift out the filter. [Description of the clip to open the top of the cyclone where the bin handle joins the cyclone. With the handle lifted, the filter is in the center of the cyclone unit].
Wash your filter: Only wash the filter with cold water. Hold the open end of the filter under a running tap until the water runs clear [?]. Turn the filter upside down and tap to remove excess water. Run water over the outside of the filter until the water runs clear. Squeeze and twist with both hands to ensure excess water is removed.
Dry your filter: Squeeze the excess water out of your filter. Leave your filter to dry for at least 24 hours in a well-ventilated, warm place [☀️]. Do not dry your filter in a tumble dryer, microwave, or near a naked flame. Important: Your filter must be completely dry before reinserting it into the machine. Using a damp filter could damage your machine.
Refit your filter: Drop your filter back into your machine. Close the handle and ensure it clicks into place [✔️]. Place the base of your bin onto your machine and then push the top into position until it clicks [✔️]. [Description of filter placement in the cyclone unit and handle closure].
Washing filter B
Remove your filter: Lie your machine on its side with the filter cover facing upwards. Turn the lock in the centre of the ball until the filter cover is released [lock release]. Lift off the filter cover. Twist the filter counter-clockwise [↶] until it is released and lift it off your machine. Remove the plug from the power source. [Description of the lock in the center of the ball with two finger recesses. The filter is located within the ball cover].
Wash your filter: Wash the filter in a rotating motion [?]. Repeat until the water runs clear [?]. Tap the filter to remove excess water. Hold the filter with the interior facing upwards to enable it to be filled with water.
Dry your filter: Leave your filter to dry for at least 24 hours in a well-ventilated, warm place [☀️]. Do not dry your filter in a tumble dryer, microwave, or near a naked flame. Important: Your filter must be completely dry before reinserting it into the machine. Using a damp filter could damage your machine.
Refit your filter: Place the filter back into position in the ball. Twist the filter clockwise [↷] until it clicks into position [✔️]. Refit the filter cover and turn the lock until it clicks securely into the closed position [✔️].
Looking after your machine
To ensure optimal performance, clean your machine regularly and check for blockages.
Look after your machine: If your machine is dusty, wipe it with a damp, lint-free cloth. Check for blockages in the cleaner head, tools, and main body of your machine. Wash your filters regularly and ensure they are completely dry. Do not use detergents or polishes to clean your machine.
Your serial number: Your serial number can be found on your machine, behind the bin. Use your serial number to register your machine.
