* Individuals with BP in two categories are designated to the higher category. BP indicates blood pressure based on an average of 2 readings on 2 occasions. Source: ACC/AHA 2017 High Blood Pressure Clinical Practice Guideline.
Warning: NEVER diagnose or treat yourself based on readings. ALWAYS consult your physician.
2. Preparation
2.1 Installing Batteries
- Push down the hook of the battery cover and pull downward.
- Insert 4 "AA" batteries as indicated in the battery compartment.
- Close the battery cover.
The year flashes on the display upon battery installation. Set date/time manually (2.2) or pair with a smart device (4.1).
Note: Replace batteries when the [Low battery symbol] flashes. Replace all 4 batteries at once. Replacing batteries does not delete readings. Supplied batteries may have shorter life. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
2.2 Setting the Date and Time
Note: Set date/time before first measurement. It will set automatically when paired with the "OMRON connect US/CAN" app.
- If nothing is displayed, press the [Memory button] to display the year.
- Press the [Forward/Backward buttons] to adjust the year. Hold to advance/go back quickly.
- Press the [Connection button] to confirm the year; month will flash. Repeat for month, day, hour, and minute.
- Press the [Connection button] to store the setting. The monitor turns off 3 seconds after minutes are set.
Note: To reset, replace batteries or press the [Connection button] and follow steps. If date/time is not set, " " flashes during/after measurement.
2.3 Blood Pressure Measurement Tips
For accurate readings:
- Avoid stressful times; take measurements in a quiet place.
- Take measurements at the same times daily (morning and evening recommended).
- Record readings for your physician; a single measurement is not indicative of true blood pressure.
Caution: Avoid bathing, alcohol/caffeine, smoking, exercising, and eating for at least 30 minutes before measurement. Rest for at least 5 minutes before measurement.
2.4 Applying the Arm Cuff
Note: Steps are for the left arm. For the right arm, follow specific instructions. Blood pressure can differ between arms; OMRON recommends using the same arm. Consult physician if readings differ significantly.
Caution: Remove tight-fitting or thick clothing from your arm.
- Plug the air plug into the air jack on the monitor until it clicks.
- Place your hand through the cuff loop and wrap it around your upper left arm.
- The bottom edge of the cuff should be 0.5 inch (1-2 cm) above the inside elbow. The air tube should be on the inside of your arm, aligned with your middle finger.
- Wrap the cuff securely so it doesn't move.
To take a measurement on your right arm: Position the air tube along the side of your elbow, along the bottom of your arm. Do not rest your arm on the air tube.
2.5 Sitting Correctly
For measurement, be relaxed and comfortably seated in a room at a comfortable temperature.
- Sit in a chair with back and arm supported.
- Keep feet flat and legs uncrossed.
- Place the arm cuff on your arm at heart level, resting your arm comfortably on a table.
3. Using Your Monitor without a Smart Device
3.1 Taking a Measurement
You can use the monitor without pairing to a smart device. To pair, refer to section 4.1.
Note: Press the [START/STOP button] once to stop measurement and deflate the cuff.
Caution: DO NOT use simultaneously with other ME equipment. Remain still and DO NOT talk during measurement.
- Press the [START/STOP button]. All symbols appear before measurement starts.
- Remain still and do not talk until the measurement is complete. The [Heartbeat symbol] flashes with each heartbeat.
- The cuff automatically deflates. Blood pressure and pulse rate are displayed. The [High symbol] appears if readings are high (refer to 1.3).
- Press the [START/STOP button] to turn off the monitor.
Note: Monitor turns off automatically after 2 minutes. Wait 2-3 minutes between measurements.
Using the Guest Mode
Use guest mode for a single measurement for another user. No readings are stored.
- Press and hold the [START/STOP button] for more than 3 seconds until the date/time display disappears.
- Release the button when the display turns off. The cuff inflates automatically.
If your systolic pressure is more than 210 mmHg
Take a measurement manually. After the cuff starts inflating, press and hold the [START/STOP button] until the monitor inflates 30 to 40 mmHg higher than your expected systolic pressure. Do not inflate above 299 mmHg.
Caution: Inflating higher than necessary may cause bruising.
