Understanding Your Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is the force of blood flowing against the walls of the arteries. Arterial blood pressure changes during the heart’s cycle. The highest pressure is Systolic Blood Pressure, and the lowest is Diastolic Blood Pressure. Both are needed for a physician to evaluate your blood pressure status.
Arrhythmia: A condition where the heartbeat rhythm is abnormal. Symptoms can include skipped heartbeats, premature contraction, or an abnormally fast or slow pulse.
Many factors influence blood pressure, such as physical activity, anxiety, and time of day. A single measurement may not be sufficient for an accurate diagnosis. Measure at the same time each day for consistency. Blood pressure is typically lower in the morning and increases throughout the day. It is lower in summer and higher in winter.
Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a key risk factor for Stroke. Effective treatment can prevent strokes.
Home Blood Pressure Monitoring is endorsed to help manage hypertension effectively.
