mAT-S1500 Digital SWR/Wattmeter Operations Manual
Introduction
The mAT-S1500 is an accurate instrument for monitoring station performance. It utilizes two RF-specific measurement chips to accurately measure the power and SWR of an RF system, but it does not display information like spectrum or impedance.
The mAT-S1500 features a 4.3-inch diagonal TFT color display screen that shows current RF power and SWR using bar and digital displays.
Equipped with two high-capacity 18650 lithium batteries, the mAT-S1500 can operate without an external power supply. It uses a TYPE-C charging socket, allowing users to charge it with a standard phone charger. The charger is not included with the device and must be provided by the user.
The instrument is automated and user-friendly, featuring a single power switch. It automatically sets the range based on the input RF signal and adjusts the screen background color according to ambient light brightness for optimal visibility.
The casing is constructed using aluminum milling technology, ensuring a delicate yet sturdy build.

Rear Panel
The rear panel includes the following connectors and controls:
- RF IN: RF signal input. Connect the transmitter or amplifier here.
- RF OUT: RF signal output. Connect the antenna or tuner here.
- POWER: Power switch. Turn the power supply upwards to switch on.
- CHARGE: Charging socket, TYPE-C type.
- DATA: Data output socket, not used.
An indicator light is located to the left of the charging socket. It illuminates during charging and turns off when the battery is fully charged. To the left of this indicator is an ambient light sensor, which allows the mAT-S1500 to automatically adjust the screen background color for better readability in varying light conditions.
Front Panel
The front panel features a 4.3-inch high-resolution color display screen.
Display Description: The screen displays RF power and SWR. The top right corner shows battery level and charging status. When charging, "CHARGING" and the battery voltage are displayed. When the charger is removed, these indicators disappear. Upon startup, the battery voltage is shown for approximately 5 seconds.
Forward (FWD) Power Display: This section shows two values: maximum power and instantaneous power. The first digit typically represents the maximum RF power, and the second represents the instantaneous power. A progress bar indicates instantaneous power, with a cursor marking the maximum power achieved.
The FWD power has three ranges: 15W, 150W, and 1500W. The device automatically selects the appropriate range upon startup, starting from 15W and adjusting upwards based on the RF signal. To select a smaller range, the device must be powered off and restarted.
SWR Display: The SWR is shown numerically (range 1.00-9.99) and via a progress bar. An SWR reading of 99.99 indicates a potential issue, such as incorrect connection to the "RFOUT" socket or an invalid antenna.
The SWR progress bar uses different colors (green, yellow, monochrome) to indicate SWR values. When the SWR is too high, the mAT-S1500 emits a beep to alert the user.
Battery and Charging
The mAT-S1500 is equipped with two built-in 18650 lithium batteries, allowing operation without an external power supply. Charging is done via the TYPE-C socket.
Users can utilize a standard mobile phone TYPE-C charger. The recommended charging voltage range is 4.5-5.5V; exceeding this range can damage the meter. The maximum charging current should not exceed 1A. Charging typically takes less than 5 hours.
Important Note 1: Do not use the device while charging. Strong electromagnetic waves from the transmitter can interfere with the charger, potentially causing incorrect output voltage and damaging the mAT-S1500. If the mAT-S1500 detects a connected charger, it will display a warning message.
The display screen consumes significant power. Charging the mAT-S1500 while it is shut down can shorten charging time.
Important Note 2: If the internal lithium battery is reinstalled, connect the charger to activate the protection circuit before normal operation can begin.
Warning (Translated from Chinese): Do not use this meter while charging. Chargers may be interfered with by radio signals, leading to incorrect output voltage and damage to the meter.
Important Usage Notes
For accurate RF power measurement, set your transmitter to FM, FSK, RTTY, or CW modes to ensure a stable carrier wave output.
Shipping Instructions
