Controls & Interface
The Foxton FX200 radio features controls on the front and ports on the rear.
Front Controls:
- 1. Mode: Selects the operating mode (DAB, FM, Bluetooth, Aux).
- 2. On / Off: Powers the unit on or off.
- 3. Preset: Accesses preset station memory.
- 4. Preset Numbers 1 & 2: Quick access to preset stations 1 and 2.
- 5. [Left]: Navigates left or decreases value.
- 6. Preset Numbers 3 & 4: Quick access to preset stations 3 and 4.
- 7. Speaker: Integrated speaker.
- 8. Screen/Display: Shows station information, time, and settings.
- 9. Volume/Enter/Snooze/Scroll/Dimmer: Multi-function dial for volume control, menu selection, snooze function, scrolling, and screen dimming.
- 10. Menu: Opens the main settings menu.
Rear Ports:
- 16. Earphone / AUX OUT: 3.5mm stereo jack for headphones or audio output.
- 17. Aux In: 3.5mm stereo jack for connecting external audio sources.
- 18. USB Port: For power input.
- 19. Power In: DC input for the mains adapter.
- 20. Antenna: Telescopic aerial for radio reception.
Operating Your Radio
- Extend the telescopic aerial fully.
- Press the POWER button to switch on your radio. The display will show "Azatom - Digital Radio."
- On first use, the unit enters DAB Mode and performs an 'Auto Scan' for stations. If DAB Mode was previously used, it recalls the last played station.
- Pressing SCAN at any time initiates an automatic scan and storage of stations. A bar graph on the display shows scan progress.
- After scanning, the first station (alphanumerically) is selected, and the clock is automatically set.
- If no stations are found, the display shows "Service Not Available".
- If reception is poor, ensure the aerial is extended and try an auto scan in a different location.
DAB Radio
Selecting a Station
- With the radio on, extend the telescopic aerial.
- Press MODE to select "DAB" mode.
- The top line of the display shows the current station name.
- Use the [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to cycle through available stations and press ENTER to tune in.
Auto Scan
- Pressing SCAN at any time automatically scans and stores stations.
- Alternatively, press MENU. The display will show:
DAB
[Auto Scan Now] - Press ENTER to confirm the scan. The display shows "Scanning..." and the radio scans DAB channels.
As new stations are found, the station counter increases, and stations are added to the stored list.
Secondary Services - DAB
- Some DAB stations offer secondary services. If available, ">>" appears next to the station name. Secondary services appear after primary services when navigating with [Left] or [Right].
- Press ENTER to select a secondary service.
- When a secondary service ends, the radio automatically switches back to the main station if available.
DAB Manual Scan
Manual tuning allows tuning to DAB Band III channels (UK stations in range 11B to 12D).
- Press MENU, then use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to highlight "Manual Tune" and press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to select the desired channel frequency.
- Press MENU. A graph shows signal strength, and the upper line displays the DAB multiplex name. Found stations are added to the stored list.
- Press MENU to return to normal tuning mode.
Dynamic Range Control (DRC)
DRC makes quieter sounds easier to hear in noisy environments.
- Press MODE to enter "DAB" mode.
- Press MENU, then use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "DRC" is displayed. Press ENTER to enter the settings menu.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to select the DRC setting (default is OFF):
- DRC OFF: Broadcast DRC is ignored.
- DRC LOW: DRC level is set to 1/2 of the broadcast level.
- DRC HIGH: DRC level is used as sent by the broadcaster.
- Press ENTER to confirm the setting. The display returns to the previous screen.
The DRC function depends on broadcaster support; if not supported, the setting has no effect.
FM Radio
Selecting a Station
- With the radio on, extend the telescopic aerial.
- Press MODE to select "FM" mode.
- The top line of the display shows the current station frequency.
- Use the [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to fine-tune the FM frequency by 5mHz.
Auto Scan
- Press MODE to select "FM" mode.
- Press the SCAN button. The radio scans and saves FM stations with a strong signal. After the search, the display shows the frequency and plays the first available station.
- Press and hold [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial for a fast search to the next available FM station.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to fine-tune the FM frequency by 5mHz.
Display Settings
Backlight Auto Setting
- Press MENU, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Settings" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Backlight" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Press [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Backlight Auto" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to choose between 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180 seconds, or "OFF" to disable auto dimmer. Press ENTER to set.
Set Brightness
While in any playing mode, use the DIMMER button on the dial to set screen brightness. Alternatively:
- Press MENU, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Settings" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Backlight" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Press [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Backlight Set" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to choose between High, Medium, or Low. Press ENTER to set.
Using Presets
You can save preferred DAB and FM radio stations to preset memories. The radio has 80 presets (40 for DAB, 40 for FM). Preset storage steps are the same for both modes.
- With the radio powered on, press MODE to choose "DAB" or "FM" mode.
- IMPORTANT: Ensure the station you wish to preset is currently playing.
- Press and hold the PRESET button until "Preset store" is highlighted on the screen (not "Preset Recall").
- Use the [Left] or [Right] buttons or dial to scroll to the desired preset number and press ENTER.
- Once stored, "Preset 01 Stored" will display. The station is saved under the chosen preset. Repeat for other stations.
Stations stored in a preset slot can be overwritten by repeating the procedure and selecting an already used slot.
Fast Preset
To use fast preset, use the numbered buttons "1/2, 3/4 & 5/6". Play the station, then press and hold the relevant numbered button until "Preset stored" appears. You can choose any preset number button; the maximum number of presets savable this way is 6.
Recalling Presets
- With the radio powered on, press MODE to choose "DAB" or "FM" mode.
- Press the PRESET button to see "Preset Recall" (not "Preset Store").
- Use the [Left] or [Right] buttons or dial to scroll to the desired preset number and press ENTER.
If no preset station has been stored, "Empty preset" will be displayed when the preset button is pressed.
Bluetooth
To pair your device via Bluetooth for the first time:
- Press MODE until "BT" is highlighted on the display, then press ENTER.
- The speaker will automatically enter pairing mode.
- On your Bluetooth device (e.g., mobile phone), search for available devices and select "Azatom Foxton".
- Once connected, the screen will display "Bluetooth connected".
- You can use the dial on the front of the Foxton to play and pause your music.
Aux - In
Aux-in mode plays audio from an external source like a smartphone.
- Plug one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) into the headphone or line out jack of your player or device. Plug the other end into the unit's Aux-In port.
- Turn on the external audio source and play your device.
- Press MODE to select "Aux Input" mode.
- Volume can be controlled via the main unit.
Please ensure the cable is disconnected to listen to the radio in other modes like DAB and FM.
Sleep Timer
Your radio can be set to turn off after a preset time. The sleep setting can be adjusted from 15 to 90 minutes.
Press the SLEEP button to set the desired sleep time between 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 minutes, or select "Sleep Off" to cancel the function.
You can also adjust Sleep Timer settings via the menu:
- Press MENU, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Settings" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Set Sleep Time" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to set the desired sleep time (15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 minutes) or "Sleep Off".
- Press ENTER to confirm. The sleep timer indicator "?" will appear on the display. The radio will switch off after the set time.
Time & Date Settings
If no DAB/FM signal is available, you will need to set the time and date manually when turned on for the first time.
- Press MENU, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Settings" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Time/Date" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to select "Set Time/Date" and press ENTER. You can also use [Left] or [Right] to set AUTO UPDATE, 12/24 Hour Modes, and Date Format.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to set the correct time and date, then press ENTER to confirm.
Alarm Settings
NOTE: PLEASE SELECT A RADIO STATION BEFORE SETTING THE ALARM. You can choose from the last station used or one of your favourite preset channels.
- Press ALARM to enter the setting menu. Press ALARM again to choose between ALARM 1 or ALARM 2. Press ENTER to select either setup.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to set the alarm time and press ENTER to confirm.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to choose a duration: 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 minutes, and press ENTER to confirm.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to set the alarm source (Buzzer, FM, DAB) and press ENTER to confirm.
Alarm Settings (Continued)
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to set when the alarm is active: Once / Daily / Weekdays / Weekends. Press ENTER to confirm.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to set the alarm date and press ENTER to confirm.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to set the alarm volume and press ENTER to confirm.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to choose whether the alarm is ON or OFF, and press ENTER to confirm.
When in any playing mode, press and hold the ALARM button to cancel an alarm.
Snooze
- When the alarm sounds, pressing the SNOOZE button temporarily silences it. You can choose the snooze time from 5, 10, 15, & 30 minutes using the [Left] or [Right] buttons or turning the dial.
- The snooze function includes a countdown showing how long until the alarm re-sounds.
Stop The Alarm
When the alarm is sounding, you can press the ALARM, MENU, or STANDBY buttons to silence it and return the radio to Standby mode. This cancels the alarm; to snooze, please use the SNOOZE button.
Factory Reset
If the radio operates incorrectly, or the display shows missing/incomplete digits, a system reset can restore normal operation and factory defaults. If you move to a new region and local DAB stations are no longer available, this procedure can also clear the stored list.
All your presets will be erased during this procedure.
- Press MENU, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Settings" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Press MENU, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Factory Reset" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- To perform the reset, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "YES" is highlighted, then press ENTER. A full reset will occur, erasing all preset stations and station lists.
- If you do not wish to reset, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "NO" is highlighted, then press SELECT to confirm. The radio will return to the previous menu.
After a system reset, a scan of the DAB band will be automatically performed.
Earphones
Earphones are not included with the Foxton Radio.
- Plug earphones into the Earphone socket on the rear of your radio.
- Check that the volume level is not too loud before placing the ear-pieces into your ears.
FM Stereo/Mono (Earphones only)
Use this feature if an FM station has a weak signal and exhibits distortion, especially when listening with earphones.
- Press MENU, use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Settings" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Audio Setting" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Forced Mono" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- To return to stereo mode, press [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial until "Audio Setting" is highlighted, then press ENTER.
- Use [Left] or [Right] buttons or turn the dial to highlight "Stereo Allowed" and press ENTER. Your radio will switch to stereo mode.
Stereo listening is only available when listening via earphones.
