Safety Warnings
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
WARNING! Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
- Keep power tools away from rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool increases the risk of electric shock.
- Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the power tool. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
- If operating in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply.
- Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. A power tool that cannot be controlled is dangerous and must be repaired.
- Risk of burns from hot surfaces! Do not touch!
- Protect from rain and moisture!
- Outlet temperature at the nozzle is max. 650°C.
- Unplug the appliance immediately if the cable is damaged or cut.
General Safety Warnings for the Hot Air Blower
- This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years and above, and by persons with limited physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they are supervised or have been instructed on safe use and are aware of the potential risks. Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks should not be carried out by children unless supervised.
- If the mains cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, their customer service department, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards.
- Spare parts not listed (e.g., switches, replacement nozzles) can be ordered via the call centre.
- CAUTION! This tool must be placed on its stand when not in use.
- Careless use of the appliance can cause a fire.
- Take care when using the appliance near flammable materials.
- Do not aim at the same place for a prolonged period.
- Do not use in the presence of an explosive atmosphere.
- Heat can be transferred to combustible materials that are hidden from view.
- Replace the appliance on its stand after use and allow it to cool down before storing.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is in operation.
Additional Safety Instructions
CAUTION! Avoid the risk of injury, fire, and health risks:
- In case of danger, remove the mains plug from the socket immediately.
- CAUTION! RISK OF INJURY!
- Never use the appliance as a hairdryer.
- Never aim the hot air stream at people or animals.
- Never look directly into the nozzle opening at the outlet.
- CAUTION! RISK OF BURNS!
- Do not touch the hot nozzle.
- Wear protective gloves.
- Wear safety goggles.
- Always disconnect the mains plug from the socket during breaks in work, before carrying out any work on the appliance (e.g., changing the attachment nozzle), and when not in use.
- Keep the nozzle at a distance from the workpiece or the area being processed. A build-up of hot air can result in damage to the appliance.
- The appliance must always be kept clean, dry, and free from oil or grease.
- Never use the appliance for purposes other than those for which it was designed.
Operation
Before Use
Select Temperature Setting: Use the temperature switch (15) to choose between three temperature settings depending on the application:
- Heating level 1: 100°C
- Heating level 2: 350°C
- Heating level 3: 650°C
Setting Up (as Hot Air Blower)
- Plug the mains plug (1) into a suitable socket (230 V alternating current).
- Switching the Appliance On: Turn on the appliance by moving the ON/OFF switch (11) to the "I" position. The appliance reaches its full operating temperature after approximately 1 minute.
- Switching the Appliance Off: Switch the appliance off by moving the ON/OFF switch (11) to the "O" position.
- After use, always place the appliance on its stand (16) on a flat, fireproof surface until the hot parts of the appliance have cooled down.
- Pull the mains plug (1) from the mains power socket.
Using Nozzles
WARNING! Before changing the nozzle, ensure that the hot air nozzle (13) has cooled down to avoid burns.
- Cone Nozzle (14) - Weed Removal: Fit the cone nozzle (14) onto the hot air nozzle (13).
- Filling Nozzle (5) - Removing Paints or Varnish: Fit the filling nozzle (5) onto the hot air nozzle (13). The spatula shape of this nozzle is designed for targeted hot-air delivery. Use it together with a separate spatula to remove paint and coatings.
- Flat Nozzle (6) - Separating Glued Joints, Softening Paints: Fit the flat nozzle (6) onto the hot air nozzle (13). Avoid prolonged exposure to heat, as burned paint can be very difficult to remove. Many adhesives can be softened with heat, allowing glued joints to be separated and excess glue removed.
- Reducer Nozzle (7) - Welding Plastics: Fit the reducer nozzle (7) onto the hot air nozzle (13). Use the reducer nozzle (7) with heat-shrinkable tubing and films.
Additional Usage Examples for House, Car, and Garden
- Defrosting Water Pipes:
- NOTE: Do not use on PVC piping.
- Water and gas pipes are often indistinguishable from the outside. If in doubt, always consult a professional.
- Copper pipes are soldered and may not be heated above 200°C.
- Releasing Screwed Joints: Heat screwed joints carefully with hot air; the screws can then usually be removed easily.
- Lighting Charcoal:
- WARNING! Do not use any lighter fluid.
- Fit the barbecue nozzle (8) onto the hot air nozzle (13).
- Push the barbecue nozzle (8) into the charcoal. Ensure that the last three barbecue nozzle holes remain free.
- As soon as the charcoal starts to glow, remove the appliance from the charcoal.
- De-waxing: Use the product with suitable caution to remove residual wax from skis/snowboards or candle holders.
Setting Up (as Weed Killer)
The appliance may only be used as a weed killer with the extension handle. Hold the appliance by the handle (13) of the extension.
- Rotate the handle (10) of the hot air blower as shown in figure A (Pos. 1).
- Fit the extension handle (17) into the handle (18) and screw the locking device for the extension handle (3) tight.
- Insert the extension handle (17) into the handle of the hot air blower (10) and screw the locking device for the extension handle (9) tight.
- Route the power cord along the extension handle (17) and fix it in place by inserting it into the cable clips (4).
- NOTE: The mains cable must be connected through the cable holder (2) as shown on the fold-out page. To do this, insert the mains cable with a loop through the eyelet of the cable holder (2).
- Plug the mains plug (1) into a suitable socket (230 V alternating current).
- Switch the appliance on.
- To kill weeds, place the cone nozzle (14) on the plant to be treated for around 5-10 seconds (depending on the type of plant).
- For taller plants, heat the upper section of the plant briefly and then place the cone nozzle (14) on the shrunken plant for approx. 5-10 seconds.
NOTE on Weed Killing:
- This appliance is particularly suitable for removing weeds.
- Weed killing is most effective at an early stage of vegetation growth, ideally in spring.
- Treatment is most intensive on younger plants, but success may not be immediately visible. Longer exposure can burn off the visible part of the plant.
- Plants do not react immediately to heat. Young, soft-leaved plants are most sensitive and may not survive. Older plants with hard leaves (e.g., thistles) may require more frequent treatment (1-2 weeks apart) to dry out. Hardy grasses require longer treatment.
- For overgrown areas, initial treatment may require several short sessions for long-term success, followed by less frequent treatments.
- Burning plants off completely is not essential; heating dries out leaf cells, causing the weed to die. Repeated treatment may be necessary for certain weed types.
Cleaning and Disposal
