Note: "MG10XU", "MG10X", and "MG10" indicate contents unique to each model. Common contents are indicated without specific model logos. Panel illustrations typically show the MG10XU. Illustrations are for instructional purposes and may differ slightly from your unit.

Quick Start Guide

STEP 1: Connecting external devices, such as speakers, microphones and instruments

Before connecting:

Connection Example:

Microphones: Connect to CH1-CH4 MIC/LINE input jacks using XLR or phone plugs. If using condenser microphones, turn on the PHANTOM +48V switch. Ensure the GAIN and LEVEL knobs are set appropriately.

Instruments/Audio Devices: Connect to CH1-CH4 MIC/LINE input jacks or CH5/6, CH7/8, CH9/10 LINE input jacks using phone plugs. If connecting a high-output device like a CD player or keyboard, engage the PAD switch on the corresponding channel.

Speakers: Connect to STEREO OUT jacks (XLR or phone plugs) or MONITOR OUT jacks (phone plugs).

Headphones: Connect to the PHONES jack using a stereo phone plug.

Powering On: Turn on connected devices in the following order: Microphones, Instruments, Audio Devices, then the MG unit, and finally Powered Speakers/Amplifiers.

Powering Off: Reverse the order of powering on.

STEP 2: Getting sound to the speakers

  1. Ensure the rear panel POWER switch [/I] is set to the OFF position ( ).
  2. Connect the supplied AC power adapter to the AC ADAPTOR IN jack and a household power outlet. Secure the connection with the fastening ring.
  3. Set the STEREO LEVEL knob to the position.
  4. For channels with microphones connected, set the GAIN knob to approximately the 12 o'clock position.
  5. Set the LEVEL knob of each channel in use to the position.
  6. While playing your instrument or speaking into the microphone, raise the volume of the powered speaker or amplifier until the desired volume is reached.
  7. Set the LEVEL knobs as necessary to adjust the volume balance between channels.

Note on Volume Adjustment: Use the PAD switch, GAIN knob, and LEVEL knob to set the initial volume. Primarily use the LEVEL knob for subsequent volume adjustments.

Applying Effects (MG10XU/MG10X)

The MG10XU and MG10X feature high-quality built-in signal processing effects similar to the SPX series. Effects can simulate different performance environments.

  1. Turn the PROGRAM knob to select a desired effect program number (indicated by a flashing number on the display).
  2. Press the PROGRAM knob to confirm the selection.
  3. Turn on the FX ON switch.
  4. Set the FX RTN LEVEL knob to the position.
  5. Adjust the FX knob for the desired channel to control the amount of effect applied.

Effect Programs (List)

*LFO: Low Frequency Oscillator, used to modulate signals with different waveforms and speeds.

Troubleshooting

Mounting to a Microphone Stand

The unit can be mounted onto a microphone stand using the optional Yamaha BMS-10A microphone stand adaptor. Refer to the BMS-10A Owner's Manual for mounting instructions.
