Controls and Functions
Top Panel
The top panel features the following controls:
- Display: Operated by touch screen.
- [TOUCH AND TURN] Knob: Used for fine parameter adjustments.
- Channel Strip Section: Controls main parameters for the selected channel.
- [MAIN] Section: For operating STEREO channel parameters.
- [USER DEFINED KEYS] Section: Assignable keys for user-defined functions.
- [HOME] Key: Returns to the HOME screen.
- [FADER BANK] Section: Switches fader allocation.
- [PHONES] Section: For headphone monitoring (MONITOR select or CUE signal).
- USB Connector: For connecting USB memory devices.
Rear Panel
The rear panel includes:
- [OMNI OUT] Jacks: XLR-3-32 outputs for analog audio signals (MIX and STEREO channels).
- [INPUT] Jacks: XLR-3-31 and Combo jacks (XLR/TRS) for microphones and instruments.
- Power Switch: [I] for ON, [z] for standby. The unit enters standby after 10 seconds of inactivity and saves its state. Allow 6 seconds before turning back ON after standby.
- [DC INPUT] Connector: For the included power adaptor. Connect adaptor to product first, then plug into outlet.
- Dante PRIMARY/SECONDARY Connectors (DM3 only): RJ-45 connectors for Dante audio network connections. Use STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cables for electromagnetic interference prevention. Avoid network switches with EEE functions that cannot be turned off.
- [USB TO HOST] Connector: USB Type B for connecting to a computer as an audio interface (up to 18 IN/18 OUT) and for USB-MIDI control. Requires Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver. Use USB cables less than 3 meters and allow a 6-second interval between plugging/unplugging.
- Network Connector: RJ-45 for computer connection via Ethernet cable (CAT5e or better). Use STP cables to prevent interference.
Side Panel
The side panel features:
- Ventilation Ports: Equipped with a cooling fan to prevent overheating. Ensure these ports are not blocked to prevent malfunction or fire.
Using the Display and Controls
Display Operation:
The display is operated via touch screen, double-touch, sliding, swiping, and pinching. The [TOUCH AND TURN] knob allows for fine parameter adjustments.
Switching Screens:
Touch a box on the screen to switch to its related screen. The [HOME] key returns to the HOME screen.
Scrolling:
Slide the screen up/down or left/right to navigate. Swiping allows for faster scrolling.
Operating the Q of EQ:
In manual mode, pinch in/out on the EQ screen to adjust the Q parameter of a selected handle. This function is not available in 1-knob mode.
Operating Parameters with the [TOUCH AND TURN] Knob:
Touch a parameter to select it (indicated by a pink frame), then use the [TOUCH AND TURN] knob to adjust it. The 1-knob mode allows simultaneous adjustment of multiple parameters.
Setting the Internal Clock:
Access the SETUP screen, touch the TIME button, and use the date/time sliders to set the internal clock. Touch OK to confirm. The [HOME] key returns to the main screen. Date and time settings affect scene timestamps.
Maintenance and System Management
Returning to Factory Settings (Initialization):
NOTE: This process erases all saved data.
To reset the system:
- Turn on the power while pressing the [HOME] key.
- On the maintenance screen, press the "Initialize All Memories" button.
Rack Mount Kit Installation:
Precautions for Rack Mounting: Ensure adequate ventilation, especially when rack-mounted with heat-generating equipment. Leave at least 1U space between devices and consider installing a ventilation panel.
- Install rack mounting brackets using the provided screws.
- Install the unit in the rack, requiring at least 11U of space, or 13U for cable clearance.
