Field Installation Instructions
Model 1710A and Model 1710B Setup
Multiple 1710 modules may be linked together to form a coordinated system, sharing theft detection and alarm connections, and potentially coordinating product selection. To set up the system so that only one position is playing at a time in the entire system (interlock), connect all modules together with system bus, and turn on Feature Switch 2 on all modules. When replacing Model 1710A with a 1710B or adding a 1710B to an existing system, observe the proper switch settings and button header connections.
Differences Between 1710A and 1710B
1. Feature switches
Feature switches are numbered differently, but their functionality is the same (Figures 1 and 2).
Depicts the feature switches on the Model 1710A. Switches are labeled POWER INPUT, POWER BUS OUT, FEATURE SWITCHES 1, 2, 3, 4, ON-OFF, DEMO, TIMEOUT, EXPANSION BUS. The switches are shown as small toggles.
Depicts the feature switches on the Model 1710B. Similar to the 1710A, with switches labeled POWER INPUT, POWER BUS OUT, FEATURE SWITCHES 1, 2, 3, 4, OFF-ON, DEMO, TIMEOUT, EXPANSION BUS. The ON-OFF switch is labeled "OFF-ON".
2. Theft Detect switches
Theft Detect switches are numbered differently, but their functionality is the same (Figures 3 and 4).

3. Button connections
1710B Button connections have 4 pins. Use 4-wire buttons, or connect 2-wire buttons to the two right-hand pins (see Figures 5, 6, and 7).

Details a 4-pin header with two pins connected, labeled 'Header Plug Lock'.
Model 1710A and 1710B Timeout Settings
In switching mode, a demo timer is initiated each time a customer selects a product output to audition. Timeout must be set individually on all modules; the timeout on one module never affects the other modules in the system. The demonstration length is set by the timeout switch, in increments of 15 seconds. If the timeout switch is set to 0, then the demonstration does not time out. The timeout interval settings for the Model 1710A and 1710B are the same. The Demo Timeout dial adjustment location for the 1710A is from the side, while the 1710B is top facing. Timeout and interlock are not active for modules in Distribution Mode (all positions on the module remain on all the time).
Shows the side of a Model 1710A module with a dial labeled 'DEMO TIMEOUT' for adjustment.
Shows the top of a Model 1710B module with a dial labeled 'DEMO TIMEOUT' for adjustment.
A table listing timeout intervals. It shows numbered settings from 1 to 9, corresponding to time durations from 15 seconds to 135 seconds.
