System Overview
This document describes the Audio Authority Model 1720 Soundbar Demonstration System, designed to showcase the capabilities of soundbar audio solutions.
The system setup involves connecting a Component Video Source (e.g., Blu-ray player, set-top box) to the Model 1720S Soundbar Demonstrator. The Demonstrator receives video via Component Video and audio via TV Audio, TOSLINK Digital Audio, or Analog/TOSLINK/Coax connections. The Demonstrator then outputs audio to a Soundbar via PSB Wires and sends video to a TV via Component Video. The diagram illustrates that the TV displays "TV SOUND" and the Soundbar produces "SOUNDBAR" audio.
Model 1720S Feature Switches and Connections
The Model 1720S unit features several controls and connection points for configuring the demonstration mode:
Front/Rear Panel Elements:
- POWER INDICATOR: A light-emitting diode (LED) that illuminates when the unit is powered on. ?
- 12V INPUT: The connection port for the 12V AC adapter used to power the unit.
Features (DIP Switches):
The unit is equipped with four DIP switches to customize its operation:
-
Switch 1: BUTTON MODE
- ON: Enables one-button mode, allowing a single button to toggle between sources (TV sound and soundbar). The button should be connected to the "TV Sound PSB port".
- OFF: Enables two-button mode, where separate buttons are used for each mode (TV sound and soundbar).
-
Switch 2: AUTO DEMO
- OFF: Operates in normal demo mode. The system listens for button presses (one or two, depending on Switch 1) to switch between sources. If there is no activity for a set timeout period, the demo ends.
- ON: Operates in auto demo mode. When a button is pressed, the system plays TV sound for one timeout period, then switches to soundbar audio for another timeout period, and then concludes the demo.
-
Switch 3: ATTRACT MODE
- OFF (Attract Mode A): The inactive product button flashes.
- ON (Attract Mode B): The active product button flashes.
- Switch 4: This switch is not used.
TIMEOUT Control:
The TIMEOUT dial controls the duration of the demonstration. Setting the dial to zero disables the timeout feature. Each numbered setting on the dial represents an increment of 15 seconds. For example, a setting of '1' means 1 x 15 = 15 seconds, and a setting of '2' means 2 x 15 = 30 seconds.
SELECTOR BUTTONS:
One or two illuminated switches can be used to activate the demonstration. The specific behavior is determined by the setting of Switch 1 (BUTTON MODE).
