Outdoor Antenna Grounding
If an outside antenna is connected, ensure the system is grounded for protection against surges and static charges. Refer to National Electrical Code (NEC) Article 810 for grounding guidelines.
Cleaning the Display Panel
Use a soft, lint-free cloth. A soft damp cloth may be used for dirt, but avoid strong rubbing. Use an anti-static brush for dust. Do not use liquid or chemical cleaners, as they may damage the panel surface.
Water and Moisture
Do not use this product near water, in wet basements, or near swimming pools.
Stand and Placement
Do not place the product on unstable carts, stands, or tables. Use only manufacturer-recommended accessories. Select a location with good ventilation, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not block ventilation openings.
Liquid Crystal Panel Care
The Liquid Crystal panel is made of glass and can break if dropped or impacted. Handle with care to avoid injury from broken glass. Non-active pixels may occasionally appear on the screen; this does not affect performance.
Lightning and Power Lines
For protection during lightning storms, unplug the TV and disconnect the antenna. Keep antennas away from overhead power lines.
Fire and Shock Prevention
Never place candles or flames on or near the TV. Do not place the AC cord under heavy items. Avoid displaying still pictures for extended periods to prevent afterimages. Do not expose to dripping or splashing liquids. Do not insert foreign objects into the product.
Precautions when transporting the TV
When transporting the TV, carry it by two people, holding the sides, not the display screen.
Child Safety
Flat panel displays can be unstable and pose a tipping hazard if not properly installed or supported. Ensure the display is on a proper stand or wall-mounted according to manufacturer recommendations. Do not allow children to climb on furniture or the TV. Route all cords and cables so they cannot be pulled or grabbed by children.
Wall Mounting
If wall mounting, use a mount recommended by the manufacturer or listed by an independent laboratory (e.g., UL, CSA, ETL). Follow all supplied instructions. Consult a professional installer if unsure about installation. Ensure the wall is suitable for mounting. A minimum of two people are required for installation due to the weight of flat panel displays.
Installation and Setup
Attaching/Detaching the Stand
Before attaching or detaching the stand, unplug the AC cord. Place cushioning on a flat surface to lay the TV on. Attach the stand in the correct direction using the provided screws and hex key. Do not remove the stand unless using an optional wall mount bracket. Follow instructions carefully to prevent the TV from falling over.
Setting the TV on the Wall
This TV should be mounted using the Sharp AN-37AG5 wall mount bracket. Use of other brackets may result in unstable installation and serious injury. Installation requires special skills and should be performed by qualified service personnel. Sharp is not responsible for improper mounting or accidents resulting from it. Consult a qualified service professional about using the AN-37AG5 bracket and carefully read its instructions.
Quick Installation Tips
- Attach your antenna to the back of the television.
- Connect the AC plug for the television into the AC outlet.
- Bundle the cords properly with the cable clamp.
- To turn on the television for the first time, press [POWER] on the TV or remote. The POWER indicator should light GREEN.
Note: Place the TV close to the AC outlet with the power plug within reach. Do not touch un-insulated parts of cables when the AC cord is connected.
Using the Remote Control Unit
Point the remote control unit towards the TV's remote control sensor. Objects between the remote and sensor may prevent operation. Avoid exposing the remote to shock, liquids, high humidity, or direct sunlight. Strong lighting may affect remote operation.
Important: If the POWER indicator does not light up, press [POWER] on the remote control. If the unit still does not power on, unplug the TV, repeat installation steps, or contact Sharp customer service.
Preparation - Antennas
For a clearer picture, use an outdoor antenna. A 75-ohm coaxial cable with an F-type connector can be plugged directly into the antenna terminal. A 300-ohm flat "twin-lead" cable requires a 300/75-ohm adapter. Finger-tighten F-type connectors; do not use tools, as this may damage the TV's internal circuit.
Connecting Antenna Cable
Illustrates four methods for connecting antenna cables: 1. Cable without a CATV converter, 2. VHF/UHF antenna, 3. Combination VHF/UHF antenna, 4. Separate VHF/UHF antenna, showing connections to the TV's antenna terminal using coaxial or twin-lead cables, and the use of adapters or combiners.
Installing Batteries in the Remote Control Unit
Open the battery cover, insert two "AA" size batteries with correct polarity (+/-), and close the cover. Caution: Do not mix battery types or old and new batteries. Remove batteries if worn out or if the unit will not be used for an extended period.

Notes:
- S-VIDEO terminal takes priority over other video terminals (INPUT 2 only).
- When using an HDMI-DVI conversion cable, connect the audio signal to the AUDIO terminal of INPUT 5.
- For HDMI connections, ensure the connected equipment's audio format is set to PCM, 32/44.1/48 kHz and 16 bits if audio does not output from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT terminal.
- HDMI terminals support only digital signals.

Troubleshooting
General Troubleshooting
Common issues and solutions are provided:
- No power: Check power button, AC cord connection, and ensure power is on.
- Unit cannot be operated: External influences like lightning or static may cause issues; try power cycling.
- Remote control does not operate: Check battery insertion, battery life, and ensure no strong lighting or fluorescent lights interfere with the sensor.
- Picture issues (cut off, sidebar, strange color, misalignment): Check image position, screen mode, room brightness, and input signal settings. Adjust picture tone.
- Power suddenly turned off: Check sleep timer settings, power control settings, or unit internal temperature (ensure vents are clear).
- No picture: Check component connections, input signal source, picture adjustments, "Audio Only" setting, or signal compatibility.
- No sound: Check volume level, "Output Select" setting (Variable/Fixed), and ensure MUTE is not activated.
- TV makes a cracking sound: This is normal cabinet expansion/contraction due to temperature changes and does not affect performance.
Troubleshooting - Digital Broadcasting
Error messages like "Failed to receive broadcast" (E202) or "No broadcast now" (E203) require checking antenna setup, cable connections, and broadcast schedules.
Temperature Cautions
Operating in low temperatures may cause temporary picture trails or delays. Do not leave the unit in extreme hot or cold locations, or expose to direct sunlight or heaters, as this can deform the cabinet or cause panel malfunction. Storage temperature: -20°C to +60°C (-4°F to +140°F).
