Coolpad Legacy Quick Start Guide
Thank you for purchasing your Coolpad Legacy mobile phone! Please follow these simple but important instructions for optimal use of your new phone.
Application features and functions may vary among countries, regions or hardware specifications. Any third-party application malfunctions are the responsibility of those manufacturers. Exercise caution when editing User Registration Settings, as this may cause functional or compatibility problems for which Coolpad will not be responsible. Coolpad offers self-service for its smart terminal device users. Please visit the Coolpad Americas official website (at www.coolpad.us) for more information on supported product models. Information on the website takes precedence.
Device Layout
The Coolpad Legacy features the following components:
- Front Camera
- Receiver
- Headset Jack
- Light/Proximity Sensor
- Volume Key
- Power Key (located on the upper, right-hand side)
- Rear Camera
- Fingerprint Recognition Sensor
- Flash
- Loudspeaker
- Home Button/Area
- USB-C Port (located on the bottom)
- Recent Apps Button/Area
- Back Button/Area
Getting Started
Charging the Battery
- Connect the USB-C end of the data cable to the USB-C port on your device (bottom of the phone).
- Connect the USB end to the travel adapter.
- Connect the travel adapter to an electrical outlet to fully charge your phone.
Powering the Phone On & Off
Press and hold the Power key for a few seconds to turn on your phone. To turn off your phone, press and hold the Power key until the menu pops up, and then select 'Power off'.
SIM Card Installation
- Insert the SIM ejection pin into the hole to open the SIM card tray.
- Gently pull out the SIM card tray.
- Place the Nano SIM card in card slot 1. If you have a microSD card (sold separately), place it in card slot 2.
Note: Please always use the SIM ejection pin to eject the SIM card to ensure the device is not damaged.
Core Features
Fingerprint Recognition
In addition to unlocking your phone, you can use your fingerprint to authorize purchases and app access. To register your fingerprint, swipe up on the Home screen, tap Settings > Security & location > Fingerprint. Enter your unlock password. If no password is set, you will be prompted to choose a backup screen unlock method first. Place your finger on the fingerprint recognition sensor on the back of your phone and follow the on-screen instructions. Once registered, you can use your fingerprint to unlock the screen or open apps.
Customizing Your Home Screen
The Home screen displays widgets, favorite apps, and more. Swipe left or right to view other panels. To customize:
- Add/Move Items: Tap and hold a blank area on the Home screen to access options like changing wallpaper and adding widgets. Swipe up to enter the Apps screen, tap and hold an app, then drag it to the Home screen. To move an item, tap and hold it, then drag it to a new location or to another panel.
- Remove Items: Tap and hold an item, then drag it to 'Remove' at the top of the screen.
- Create Folders: Tap and hold an app, then drag it over another app. A new folder containing the selected apps will be created. Drag more apps into the folder as needed.
Notifications and Quick Settings Panel
Notifications alert you to new messages, calendar events, and alarms. Swipe down from the top of your phone screen to open the notification panel. Swipe left or right to dismiss a notification. Tap 'CLEAR ALL' to dismiss all notifications. The Quick Settings panel provides easy access to frequently used settings.
- Wi-Fi®: Turn Wi-Fi on/off. Tap and hold the 'Wi-Fi' icon to open Wi-Fi settings.
- Bluetooth®: Turn Bluetooth on/off. Tap and hold the 'Bluetooth' icon to open Bluetooth settings.
- Battery Saver: Turn Battery Saver on/off. Tap and hold the 'Battery Saver' icon to view battery life and usage.
- Auto-rotate: Lock device orientation in portrait or landscape mode.
- Do Not Disturb: Turn 'Do Not Disturb' mode on/off. Tap and hold the 'Do Not Disturb' icon for feature settings.
- Flashlight: Turn the flashlight on/off.
- Airplane Mode: Turn airplane mode on/off. This disables Wi-Fi and cellular connections.
- Location: Turn location services on/off.
- Mobile Data: View and toggle mobile data usage.
- Screenshot: Capture a screenshot of the current screen.
- Hotspot: Turn your device's hotspot on/off.
- Night Light: Turn Night Light mode on/off.
- Invert Colors: Turn invert colors on/off.
- Data Saver: Turn Data Saver on/off.
- Cast: Share your screen on other devices.
- Nearby: Scan for links to services, places, or other things around you.
- Display Brightness: Slide left or right to adjust screen brightness.
Wireless Settings
Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network
- On the Home screen, swipe up and tap Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi to turn Wi-Fi on/off.
- Drag the slider to 'On' to scan for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Tap the name of a desired network and enter the password if necessary.
Note: Previously connected and saved networks will connect automatically. You can also 'forget' a network to remove it from the known networks list.
Wi-Fi Calling
Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive phone calls and messages over a Wi-Fi connection. Important: You must have an E911 address registered with your account to use Wi-Fi Calling. Register via the myMetro® Android™ app or by calling 611.
Phone Operations
Making a Call
- On the Home screen, tap the Phone icon or swipe up and tap the Phone icon.
- Enter a phone number on the keypad. Tap the keypad icon if it doesn't appear.
- Tap the 'Call' icon.
- Alternatively, tap the Contacts icon, find a contact by scrolling or searching, and tap their name to call.
- To view recent calls, tap the 'Call History' tab.
- During a call, tap the 'End Call' icon at the bottom of the screen to hang up.
Receiving a Call
When a call comes in, the Incoming Call screen appears with caller ID. To answer, slide up. To reject, slide down. To reject and send an SMS, slide up from the bottom left and select a preset message.
Camera
Taking a Photo
- On the Home screen, tap the Camera icon or swipe up and tap the Camera icon.
- Focus on your subject.
- Tap the shutter button to take a photo.
Creating a Video
- On the Home screen, tap the Camera icon or swipe up and tap the Camera icon.
- Swipe right to activate Video mode.
- Tap the record button to start recording.
- Tap the stop button when finished.
Photos
On the Home screen, swipe up and tap the Photos icon to view and manage photos and videos. When signed into your Google Account, the Photos app can auto-backup, organize, and share your media. To delete, select media, tap the trash icon, or tap the top right options and select 'Delete from device'. To delete multiple items, tap and hold one, then tap others, and then tap the delete icon.
To edit an image, select it, tap 'Edit', make changes, and tap 'Save copy'.
Contacts
On the Home screen, tap the Contacts icon or swipe up and tap the Contacts icon. This app saves important contact information. To search, tap the search icon at the top right and enter keywords. To add a new contact, tap the '+' icon at the lower right, enter information, and tap 'SAVE'.
Messaging
On the Home screen, tap the Messaging icon or swipe up and tap the Messaging icon. To create a message:
- Tap the 'New Message' icon.
- Enter the recipient's number or select a contact.
- Add your message. Tap the attachment icon to add media files (images, contacts, files).
- Tap the 'Send' icon.
Note: Messages with media files are sent as MMS.
Metro by T-Mobile Service Information
Service Activation
You will need the following information for activation:
- Your name, address, and an eight-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN).
- Your phone's serial number (IMEI) and SIM card number. The IMEI is usually found on the box label or in phone settings. The SIM card number is on the back of the SIM card holder.
- Your chosen Metro plan (e.g., unlimited data, talk, text).
Install the battery (if applicable) and SIM card. Once the phone is powered on, dial 1.888.8metro8 (1.888.863.8768) to connect with an activation representative, or activate online at metropcs.com. Ensure the phone's battery is fully charged after activation.
Account Details
- Text Message Reminder: Receive reminders before payment is due.
- E-statement: View your statement summary online (available in select states).
- Call Detail: View a listing of local calls made during the service cycle (additional charge may apply).
Payment Options
Metro service can be paid through various methods:
- Auto Pay: Automatic debit from your credit/debit card two days before payment is due.
- Express Pay: Pay online at metropcs.com with a credit/debit card.
- By Mail: Send check or money order with account and phone number to: Metro by T-Mobile, P.O. Box 5119, Carol Stream, IL 60197-5119.
- By Phone (Automated System): Pay with credit/debit card by dialing 1.888.8metro8 (convenience fee may apply).
- Store Payment Machine: Accepts cash, debit, or credit card (with PIN) (convenience fee may apply).
- Over the Counter: Pay at an Authorized Payment Location with cash, check, credit, or debit card.
- eWallet: Sign up via metropcs.com to create a secure eWallet for quick payments and auto-pay setup.
- Text to Pay: Register your credit/debit card with Metro eWallet and respond to a text from PAYNOW (729699) to pay.
* Not available at all locations.
MyMetro®
Manage your Metro account directly on your phone. Dial customer service numbers to change your rate plan, features, or pay for service.

Visit your local Metro store or use these options:
- Sign up for 'MyAccount' to view details, check balance, make payments, and manage eWallet.
- Contact Metro automated customer service: 1.888.8metro8 (1.888.863.8768).
- Visit metropcs.com for online information.

Important Information
- Altering the device's original software may cause it to malfunction. The device will only operate with firmware approved by Metro and the manufacturer.
- Hearing Aid Compatibility: This phone has been tested for hearing aid compatibility with some wireless technologies. It is important to test features thoroughly in different locations with your hearing aid or cochlear implant. Consult your service provider or the manufacturer for more information.
- Your phone’s GPS system is enabled by default for future services. Instructions to disable GPS for non-911 purposes can be found in the phone's manual.

Billing for Premium and Third-Party Services (California Residents)
Certain third parties can place charges on your bill for premium services. You can access these services via your phone or online account. Metro offers the ability to restrict these charges at no additional cost. Contact customer care or visit www.metropcs.com/blocking for more information.
Google Apps
Google provides apps for entertainment, social media, and business. The Google Play Store offers music, movies, books, and apps. For more details, visit www.support.google.com/android.
