Safety Precautions
WARNING:
- Do not open the cover. No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Do not place the product near heat sources (e.g., radiators), in direct sunlight, areas with excessive dust, or subject to mechanical vibration or shock.
- Do not expose the product to dripping or splashing. Do not place liquid-filled objects (e.g., vases) on the product.
- Keep away from open flame sources, such as lighted candles.
- Ensure adequate air circulation and avoid obstructing vents to prevent internal heat build-up. Do not cover the appliance with items like newspapers, table-cloths, or curtains.
Overview
The MINICONTROL features a comprehensive layout with various controls for music production. The diagram identifies the following components:
- 1. CONTROL MESSAGE BUTTON: Transmits the control message CC64. This button is not editable.
- 2. PROGRAM CHANGE DIAL: Adjusts the program change message. This dial is not editable.
- 3. CONTROL MESSAGE BUTTON: Transmits the control message CC67. This button is not editable.
- 4. CHANNEL DIAL: Transmits the control change message to the selected function in your DAW software.
- 5. CHANNEL FADER: Transmits the control change message to the selected function in your DAW software.
- 6. USB CONNECTION: Connect the supplied USB cable here.
- 7. VOLUME FADER: Adjusts the master volume. This button is not editable.
- 8. BANK SELECT BUTTON: Selects the settings bank currently used. The bank settings can be changed using the Software Editor.
- 9. BANK LED: Displays which bank is currently being used.
- 10. ASSIGNABLE BUTTON 1: Assign a number of different functions to this button. The function can be assigned using the Software Editor.
- 11. ASSIGNABLE BUTTON 2: Assign a number of different functions to this button. The function can be assigned using the Software Editor.
- 12. CHANNEL BUTTON: Transmits the control change message to the selected function in your DAW software.
- 13. LOOP: Activates (lit) or deactivates (unlit) the loop function of your DAW software.
- 14. REWIND: Rewinds through the current project in your DAW software.
- 15. FAST FORWARD: Fast forwards through the current project in your DAW software.
- 16. STOP: Stops the current project in your DAW software.
- 17. PLAY: Plays the current project in your DAW software.
- 18. RECORD: Activates (lit) or deactivates (unlit) the record function of your DAW software.
Functions
GLOBAL MIDI
Scene MIDI channel [1 to 16]: Specifies the MIDI channel the MINICONTROL uses for note messages and other MIDI messages when buttons or sliders/knobs are used. Set this to match the MIDI channel of your DAW software. Use the Software Editor to change settings.
Transport MIDI Channel [1 to 16/Scene MIDI Channel]: Specifies the MIDI channel for transport button messages. Set this to match your DAW's MIDI channel, or select "Scene MIDI Channel" to use the Scene MIDI Channel.
Group MIDI Channel [1 to 16/Scene MIDI Channel]: Specifies the MIDI channel for MIDI control group messages. Set this to match your DAW's MIDI channel, or select "Scene MIDI Channel" to use the Scene MIDI Channel.
DIALS
Operating a dial transmits a control change message. You can enable/disable each dial, specify its control change number, and set transmitted values for full left/right turns. Use the Software Editor.
Dial Enable [Disable/Enable]: Enables or disables the dial. If disabled, turning it sends no MIDI message.
CC Number [0 to 127]: Specifies the control change number transmitted.
Left Value [0 to 127]: Specifies the control change value when the dial is turned fully left.
Right Value [0 to 127]: Specifies the control change value when the dial is turned fully right.
FADERS
Operating a fader transmits a control change message. You can enable/disable each slider, specify its control change number, and set transmitted values for full upward/downward movement. Use the Software Editor.
Slider Enable [Disable/Enable]: Enables or disables the fader. If disabled, moving it sends no MIDI message.
CC Number [0 to 127]: Specifies the control change number transmitted.
Upper Value [0 to 127]: Specifies the control change value when the fader is moved fully upward.
Lower Value [0 to 127]: Specifies the control change value when the fader is moved fully downward.
ASSIGNABLE BUTTONS
These buttons transmit control change messages. You can enable/disable them, choose the button operation type, control change number, and transmitted values. These messages are sent on the Global MIDI Channel. Use the Software Editor.
Assign Type [No Assign / Note/Control Change]: Specifies the message type: disable, assign a note message, or a control change message.
Button Behaviour [Momentary/Toggle]:
- Momentary: Pressing sends an "on" value control change message; releasing sends an "off" value.
- Toggle: Each press alternates between "on" and "off" values. Cannot be set if Assign Type is "MMC".
Note Number [C1 to G9]: Specifies the note number for note messages.
TRANSPORT BUTTONS
Operating transport buttons transmits control change or MMC messages, depending on the Assign Type. You can specify the assigned message, button operation, control change number, or MMC command. Use the Software Editor.
Assign Type [Control Change/MMC/No Assign]: Specifies the message type for the transport button: disabled, control change, or MMC message.
Button Behaviour: Selects one of two behaviours:
- Momentary: Transmits a control change message with value 127 when pressed, and 0 when released.
- Toggle: Each press alternates between transmitting a control change message with value 127 or 0. Not applicable if Assign Type is "MMC". If MMC is specified, an MMC command is transmitted on each press.
CC Number [0 to 127]: Specifies the control change number transmitted.
On Value [0 to 127]: Specifies the "on" value for control change or note on messages.
Off Value [0 to 127]: Specifies the "off" value for control change messages. Only applicable if Assign Type is Control Change.
MMC Command [Transport Buttons/MMC Reset]: Selects one of thirteen MMC command types to be transmitted.
MMC Command Options: Stop, Play, Deferred Play, Fast Forward, Rewind, Record Start, Record Stop, Record Pause, Pause, Eject, Chase, Command Error Reset, MMC Reset.
MMC Device ID [0 to 127]: Specifies the device ID for MMC messages. Typically set to 127, which means all devices receive the message.
