How to Install Double Track Uprights and Brackets
Overview
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the installation of double track uprights and shelf brackets. The system is designed for creating adjustable shelving units.
The primary visual depicts two vertical double-track uprights, each with multiple slots for attaching shelf brackets. Shelves are shown mounted onto these uprights. The uprights are labeled 'A', and the shelf brackets are labeled 'B'.
Fasteners (Sold Separately)
- AA: Spring Anchor, M5x40mm. A type of anchor, typically used in hollow walls, that expands behind the surface to provide a secure mounting point.
- BB: P/H Screw, #12 x 2-1/2". A Phillips head screw measuring 12 gauge in thickness and 2.5 inches in length, suitable for general fastening applications.
- CC: Anchor, 8x40mm. A general-purpose wall anchor, 8mm in diameter and 40mm in length, designed for use in various wall materials.
- DD: P/H Screw, #6 x 2". A Phillips head screw, 6 gauge in thickness and 2 inches in length.
- EE: P/H Screw, #6 x 1-1/4". A Phillips head screw, 6 gauge in thickness and 1.25 inches in length.
Installation Steps
Step 1a: For solid wood/wood stud installation
This method is for direct mounting into solid wood studs or solid wood surfaces. A pilot hole is drilled into the stud. A BB screw is then used to fasten the upright to the stud through its designated mounting holes.
Step 1b: For drywall installation
For drywall installation, an AA Spring Anchor is first inserted into a pre-drilled hole in the drywall. Subsequently, a BB screw is used to secure the upright to the anchor.
Step 1c: For all other installation types
This step covers alternative installation scenarios, potentially involving different types of anchors. A CC Anchor is inserted into a wall opening. A BB screw is then used to attach the upright to the CC anchor.
Step 2: Shelf Spacing and Placement
This step illustrates the recommended spacing for the uprights to ensure proper shelf support. The visual indicates that uprights should be positioned approximately 16 inches (40.64 cm) apart. Shelves are shown attached to the uprights using BB screws.
Step 3: Final Assembly
This step depicts the completed assembly of the shelving system. Shelves are securely attached to the double track uprights. Fasteners such as DD and EE screws, along with CC anchors and BB screws, are shown as part of the final installation process for shelves and uprights.
