Control4 Alexa Entertainment Experience Upgrade Guide
This guide explains how to upgrade your Control4 Smart Home skill to integrate with Amazon Alexa for enhanced entertainment control.

Upgrade Process
To upgrade your Alexa Control4 Smart Home skill to enable entertainment controls, including selecting video devices, room commands like play, pause, and stop, and volume controls, follow these steps:
Log into your customer.control4.com account. Navigate to the Automation > Amazon Alexa page and select the Upgrade button in the Room Audio section.
The Room Audio section lists various rooms such as Family Room, Garage, Hall, Kitchen, Master Bedroom, and Outside, each with an 'Enabled' status indicated by a checkmark (✔).
The "Alexa Entertainment Upgrade Experience" screen will appear. Select Next to continue with the upgrade. You can select Cancel to upgrade later or leave the Alexa integration as it is.
This screen provides simple steps to update your Control4/Alexa features.
Open a new browser window and navigate to https://alexa.amazon.com.
In the Smart Home section, select Devices and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click the Forget All button.
A confirmation dialog will appear: "Forget all devices and groups? This will remove all your devices and groups from our records, but all smart home skills will remain. Do you want to continue?" Click Forget.
Return to the upgrade experience window and click Next.
In the Amazon Alexa > Smart Home > Devices window, select Discover.
The "Alexa Entertainment Upgrade Experience" screen will indicate that the discovery process should take 20 seconds. Click Next when done.
In the Upgrade Experience window, click Finish to close the upgrade and return to the Alexa Configuration page.
The screen will state: "Amazon Alexa has finished setting up your audio/video rooms and devices. Click Finish to close this window and go back to the Alexa Configuration page."
Important Next Steps: On the Alexa Configuration page, ensure you enable all video devices you wish to voice control under the "Entertainment" section. All your devices will appear here.
In your customer.control4.com account, new devices will now appear. Under the "Entertainment" section, enable the rooms and video devices you want to control with Alexa. Select Save.
Instruct Alexa by saying, "Alexa, discover devices." A confirmation message will appear: "SUCCESS: Please instruct Alexa to discover changes by announcing 'Alexa, discover devices.'"
The device list includes entries such as 'Family Room Airplay', 'Family Room Bluetooth', 'Family Room Cable', 'Family Room Network', 'Family Room Receiver', 'Family Room Sony Entertainment Network', 'Family Room Television', and 'Family Room USB'. Each device is marked as 'Enabled' (✔) and assigned to the 'Family Room'.
To view a full list of available voice commands, including video device control, select View Voice Commands.
Other New Features
Your list of devices will now show "Lighting Scenes" and "Voice Scenes" (if configured by your dealer) separated into different categories.
The upgraded Control4 Smart Home skill for Amazon Alexa also controls your locks and fans. Examples include:
- "Alexa, what is the status of the Front Door?"
- "Alexa, lock the Front Door."
- "Alexa, turn on the Living Room fan."
