Lighting Menu Overview

Available settings depend on your system's lighting fixtures and configurations.

The lighting menu offers several views:

Using the Lighting Menu

The Lighting menu allows you to adjust your home's lighting. You can view lights across all rooms and floors without changing the displayed room on your Navigator. You can also create, edit, and activate lighting scenes.

  1. From the Control4 home page, select "Lighting". The Lighting menu will open.
  2. To change the room or view lights in different areas: Select "Room", then choose a specific room or "All Rooms" to see lights throughout the house.
  3. To check a light's status: Select "Lights" at the top. All controllable lights in the current room will be displayed.
  4. To control a light: For switched lights, tap the ON/OFF button. For dimmed lights, tap and drag the dimmer bar.
  5. To manage lighting scenes: Select "Scenes" at the top. Choose a scene to toggle it ON or OFF.
  6. To view all lights and scenes in a room: Select "All" at the top.

Using Lighting Scenes

Lighting scenes group lights and their settings for easy recall. You can create, edit, and activate scenes using a touch screen, the Control4 app, or Composer HE (sold separately). The Lighting Scenes agent must be part of your home automation project.

Turning On a Lighting Scene

  1. In the Lighting menu, select "Scenes". A list of available scenes will appear.
  2. Select the scene you wish to activate.

Using Switches, Dimmers, and Keypads

Control your lighting, sound, video, and more with basic switches, dimmers, and programmable keypads. Even a simple light switch can be programmed for multiple automated tasks.

Control4 lighting and keypads offer extensive customization for various scenarios. Lighting scenes are commonly assigned to keypad buttons for quick access. You can create scenes yourself or have your dealer assist.

Wireless switches and dimmers function like standard controls but also allow button programming for integrated actions:

Keypad buttons can be engraved for easy identification of their functions. Button programming is typically done by your installer, but can be updated as your needs change.

Using the Devices

Your installer has pre-configured your system. You can immediately use basic controls like switches and dimmers.

Using a Switch

  1. Press and release the top of the switch for "ON".
  2. Press and release the bottom of the switch for "OFF".

Using a Dimmer

  1. To brighten: Press and hold the top of the dimmer.
  2. To dim: Press and hold the bottom of the dimmer.
  3. To use as an ON/OFF switch: Press and release the top to ramp to full brightness, or press and release the bottom to dim to OFF. Pressing the dimmer during dimming stops the action. (Dimming rates and thresholds are adjustable by your installer.)

Using a Keypad

  1. Press and release a button, or press and hold it, depending on its programming.

Buttons can control lights, scenes, audio/video, climate, and more. Consult your dealer for specific programming details. Engraved labels can aid in identifying button functions.

Tip: A single keypad button can be programmed to control lighting, adjust temperature, and play music simultaneously.
