Franke FBI Series Kitchen Hood Installation Manual
Brand: Franke
Introduction and Safety
This document provides essential installation instructions for Franke kitchen hoods, specifically detailing the process for models such as the FBI 525 GR, FBI 705 GR, FBI 725 XS, and FBI 525 XS. It is imperative to read all safety information contained within the user manual before commencing any installation work.
Key Safety Requirement: The hood must be installed securely inside a cabinet. This ensures that the plastic casing surrounding the hood is inaccessible once the installation is fully completed.
Components and Accessories
The installation package typically includes the main hood unit. Various accessories and fasteners are provided to facilitate mounting and connection. These may include:
- Screws (e.g., labeled 'F', often supplied in packs of 4x)
- Clamps (e.g., labeled 'G1' and 'G', often supplied in packs of 2x)
- Flexible ducting hoses, available in diameters of Ø 120 mm, Ø 150 mm, and Ø 125 mm.
- Wheels or adapters (e.g., labeled 'W') for duct connection.
- Filter covers or internal components (e.g., labeled 'O1', often supplied in packs of 2x).
Diagrams illustrate the main hood assembly, its internal structure, and the various connection points for ducting and electrical components.
Installation Procedure
Step 1: Planning and Cabinet Preparation
Begin by identifying the designated installation location within your kitchen cabinetry. Carefully measure and mark the precise position for the hood, including centerlines and points for securing the unit. Prepare the cabinet opening according to the specified dimensions. For instance, a cutout of approximately 259 mm width and a depth of 13 mm might be required for a mounting bracket.
Step 2: Mounting Height and Clearance
It is critical to install the hood at the correct vertical distance from the cooking surface. Recommended minimum clearances are 450 mm for electric hobs and 650 mm for gas hobs. Additionally, ensure a minimum clearance of 200 mm from the top of the hood unit to the underside of the cabinet or ceiling.
Step 3: Inserting the Hood
Carefully insert the hood unit into the prepared opening in the cabinet. Ensure it is aligned correctly before proceeding to secure it.
Step 4: Securing the Hood
Fasten the hood firmly within the cabinet using the provided screws (e.g., 'F', 4x). The screws should be inserted into pre-drilled holes or mounting points, ensuring a secure fit. The depth for screw insertion is typically between 15 mm and 30 mm.
Step 5: Electrical Connection
Connect the hood's electrical power cable to the appropriate power source. This usually involves accessing a connection terminal or junction box located within the cabinet. Ensure the wiring is neat and securely fastened.
Step 6: Ducting Installation
Connect the flexible ducting hose to the hood's exhaust outlet. The outlet diameter is commonly Ø 150 mm or Ø 120 mm. Use the provided clamps (e.g., 'G1', 'G') to securely attach the ducting to the outlet. Ensure the ducting is routed efficiently without sharp bends or kinks to maintain optimal airflow. Diagrams show connections for Ø150 mm, Ø120 mm, and Ø125 mm ducts, often with a slight angle (e.g., 2°) for optimal connection.
Step 7: Attaching Covers and Filters
Install any internal components, such as filters (e.g., 'O1', 2x), and external covers or panels. These are typically attached using clips or specific fastening mechanisms (e.g., labeled 'Z' for securing covers). Ensure all components are properly seated and locked into place.
Step 8: Final Checks and Adjustments
After all components are installed, perform a thorough check. Verify that the hood is securely mounted, all ducting and electrical connections are firm, and no parts are loose. Test the operation of the hood to ensure it functions correctly.
