Optional Accessories
Attaching and Removing Accessories
To attach an accessory, remove the accessory cover by unscrewing the locking screw counter-clockwise. (You may leave the cover attached or store it safely). Plug the accessory into the socket, then carefully tighten the locking screw clockwise until finger tight. Do not overtighten or use any implement.
To remove an accessory, unscrew the locking screw by hand in a counter-clockwise direction. Ensure you refit the accessory socket cover, as the radio is not submersible without the socket covered.
Battery Information
Battery Charging
- Connect the AC adapter to the charger pod and plug it in.
- Turn the radio off.
- Insert the battery pack into the charger pod, with or without the radio attached. The charger LED status light will turn red, indicating charging has begun.
- When charging is complete, the charger LED status will change from red to green. A fully discharged battery pack typically takes approximately 3 hours to recharge.
A flashing red LED on the charger indicates a problem with the battery. Remove the battery from the charger and consult your Entel Dealer.
Battery Pack Precautions
- Do not recharge the battery pack if it is already fully charged, as this may reduce its lifespan.
- After charging is complete, remove the battery from the charger. If the charger's power is cycled (turned off and on again), charging will restart, potentially overcharging the battery.
- Ensure the radio is turned off before placing it in the charger. Never switch a radio on while it is in the charger.
- Only use Entel branded battery packs and chargers.
- Do not short the battery terminals or dispose of the battery in a fire.
- Do not charge the radio and/or battery pack if they are wet.
DANGER: DO NOT DISASSEMBLE OR MODIFY THE BATTERY IN ANY WAY! Your Entel battery pack contains a safety circuit to prevent danger. If this circuit is damaged or bypassed, or if the battery cells are damaged directly, they may generate extreme heat, smoke, rupture, and emit flames. ?

Preparing Your Radio for Use
Attaching/Removing the Antenna
To attach: Carefully align the antenna with the socket. Screw in the antenna clockwise, ensuring not to cross the thread, until it is firmly seated. The accessory cover's rubber ring should be between the antenna and the top of the radio.
To remove: Unscrew the antenna counter-clockwise.
Attaching/Removing the Battery Pack
To attach: Locate the pegs on the bottom of the battery and insert them into the corresponding slots on the radio. Press the top of the battery against the radio. Secure the battery by tightening the screw clockwise by hand. Do not use any implement or overtighten.
To remove: Unscrew the locking screw counter-clockwise and pull the battery away from the top of the radio.
Switching On, Reception, and Switching Off
- To switch on, press and hold the on/off button (1) on the front of the radio.
- After passing diagnostic tests, the radio will emit a fanfare tone.
- The radio enters standby mode, indicated by the LED flashing amber once every 5 seconds, signaling it is ready for use.
- Adjust the volume control to your desired level.
- Use the channel buttons to select the correct channel.
- When receiving a valid signal, the LED will illuminate steady green, and audio will be emitted from the radio's speaker or connected audio accessory.
- When finished using the radio, switch it off by pressing and holding the on/off button (1) until the radio beeps and the LED/LCD is extinguished.
Transmitting
- Perform steps 1 through 5 from the "Switching On, Reception, and Switching Off" section.
- Before transmitting, monitor the channel to ensure it is clear.
- When receiving a signal, wait until it stops before transmitting. The radio cannot transmit and receive simultaneously.
- Press the Push To Talk (PTT) button (4) to begin your transmission. The LED will illuminate red to confirm transmission.
- For optimal speech quality, speak directly into the radio's microphone (9) from approximately 4cm away. Speaking into the top of the radio or from further away may result in poor speech quality.
- When transmission is finished, release the PTT button.
