Introduction
The M7 is a high fidelity, high resolution digital audio player, using Samsung 14nm Exynos 7270, Dual AK4490EN DACs, 2GB native memory, and supports external Micro SD Card storage (up to 512GB). It features a 480*800 LG IPS screen with multi-touch support. The Type C interface supports charging, file transfer, and USB Audio output. Bluetooth 4.2 supports SBC, aptX, aptX-HD, LDAC, and HWA. It also supports FM radio. With a deeply-customized Android system, it runs at a fast and smooth speed with simple operation. Every interface is methodical and crisp. Ultra-low standby power consumption and long battery life (more than 20 hours) provide a lasting experience.

The device features the following buttons and ports:
- Power / Lock Button: Located on the top edge.
- Indicator Light: Located on the top edge, shows status (blue for working, red for charging).
- 3.5mm PO/LO Port: Shared Phone/Line output port, located on the side.
- Volume Knob: Located on the side, used for volume adjustment.
- Micro SD Card Slot: Supports up to 512GB, located on the side.
- Previous Track Button: Located on the side.
- Play / Pause Button: Located on the side.
- Next Track Button: Located on the side.
- Touchscreen: The main display for user interface and operation.

Buttons and Ports Explained
- Touchscreen: (16 million colors, 480x800 pixels) Displays the user interface and other information; used for operating the unit via screen touches and/or in conjunction with buttons.
- Power / Lock: Hold for 2s to turn on when powered off. Hold when powered on to display power off/reboot menu. Press briefly to turn screen on/off. Press and hold for 10 seconds to reboot.
- Indicator Light: Blue light in working condition, red light when charging, turns off when power is off.
- Volume Knob: Scroll up to increase volume, scroll down to decrease volume.
- Previous Track: Short press to play the previous track; long press to fast backward.
- Play / Pause: Press while playing to pause music; press while paused to continue playback.
- Next Track: Short press to play the next track; long press to fast forward.
- Micro SD Card Slot: Supports up to 512GB capacity.
- 3.5mm PO/LO: Shared Phone/Line output port. Switch between outputs in M7 Settings > Audio Settings > Select Output. Supports CTIA-spec headsets with in-line remote control for Volume Up/Down, Play/Pause, Next Track, and Previous Track operations.
- Type C USB Data/Charging Port: Used for charging, transmitting data, and USB Audio output. A DC5V 2A adapter is recommended for charging, allowing a full charge in 2 hours.
Main Menu Display
The main menu provides access to various functions, including FiiO Music, Browser, FM Radio, File Management, Gallery, and Technical Support.
Bluetooth Function
The M7 supports virtually all Bluetooth formats, including high-resolution ones like 24bit aptX-HD (backward compatible with aptX), LDAC, and HWA. It can function as both a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver (receiver functionality requires FW1.0.6 or above).
Bluetooth Transmitter
To pair with new Bluetooth devices (earphones, speakers, remote controls):
- Tap 'Bluetooth' in settings.
- Turn Bluetooth on if it's off (switch to 'ON' position).
- Tap 'SEARCH FOR DEVICES' to find nearby devices.
- Tap the device name to pair. Paired devices appear under 'PAIRED DEVICES'.
Note: Before connecting a Bluetooth device, you can select the desired Bluetooth audio codec in Settings > Audio > Wireless Playback quality. Disconnect and reconnect the device for the setting to take effect.
Bluetooth Receiver
To use the M7 as a Bluetooth receiver (e.g., for a mobile phone):
- Turn on 'Bluetooth decoding amp mode' in the Bluetooth settings interface.
- Bluetooth may turn off automatically; turn it back on to enter Bluetooth receive mode. (Currently supports SBC, with future LDAC support planned.)
Note: If already connected to a device, disconnect it before switching Bluetooth audio codecs. The M7 will automatically connect to the last available device when Bluetooth is turned on.
Audio Settings
1. Select Output
Switch the audio output between PO (Phone Out) and LO (Line Out) in the Audio settings.
2. Balance
Adjust the balance between the left and right channels of the PO output. There are 21 settings available, ranging from L10 (left biased) through 0 (center) to R10 (right biased).
3. In-line Remote
Enable or disable the response to in-line remotes on connected headsets.
4. USB DAC
To use the M7 as a USB DAC, check the 'USB DAC' option and connect the M7 to your computer via USB cable. A driver installation is required for Windows systems. Visit https://www.fiio.com/supports for the driver. MAC systems do not require a DAC driver. If the USB DAC option is not visible, update the M7 to FW1.0.4 or later.
FM Radio
Tap the FM radio icon on the Main menu to access the FM radio. Headphones must be plugged in to act as an antenna and listen to the radio.
Swipe up from the bottom-left of the FM interface to exit. Swipe up from the bottom-right or tap the Main menu icon to return to the Main menu while FM plays in the background.
Firmware Update
To upgrade the M7 firmware:
- Download the firmware file (e.g., "M7-ota-1.0.4.zip") from the FiiO official website. Copy the file (do not unzip) to the root directory of your micro SD card.
- Navigate to 'Technical Support' > 'Firmware Update' > 'Local upgrade' on the M7.
- Locate and select the firmware file.
- Press 'confirm' on the prompt window. The M7 will reboot and complete the update automatically.
Attention: Ensure battery power is above 30% or connected to a power supply. Do not operate the M7 during the update. If the update fails, hold POWER and PLAY buttons simultaneously to reboot.
Language Setting
To change the device language:
- Go to Settings > General > Language & input > Languages.
- Tap 'Add a language'.
- Select the desired language.
- Press and drag the '=' icon next to the language to the top of the list to set it as primary. Language switching is completed after this operation.
Key-lock Settings
Customize which buttons or knob are active when the screen is off to prevent accidental presses.
General Settings
This section covers various general settings including About device, Power-off timers, Brightness level, Wallpaper, Sleep, Date & time, Language & Input, and Screen lock.
1. About Device
View device name, build number, and other system information.
2. Power-off Timer
Includes two categories: 'Sleep' and 'Idle power off'.
- Sleep: The M7 will power off automatically after a preset time (0-120 minutes), regardless of playback status.
- Idle power off: The M7 will power off automatically if no operation is performed for a preset time (0-50 minutes).
3. Brightness Level
Adjust the screen brightness according to the environment.
4. Sleep
Specify the inactivity period (no button presses, screen touches, or playback) after which the M7 will enter sleep mode. In sleep mode, the device has low power consumption. A short press of the Power button wakes the M7.
Factory Data Reset
This function erases all user data and restores the device to its original default settings. It is recommended to back up important data beforehand.
Status Bar
The status bar at the top of the screen displays working status indicators.

FiiO Music App
The M7 comes with the FiiO Music app, a music player designed to maximize the audio hardware's potential for music enthusiasts.
1. APP Homepage
Upon launching FiiO Music, the homepage displays various functions:
- Return to home menu: Navigate back to the main screen.
- Settings: Access app settings.
- Album Art Display Area: Tap to change content or enter the 'Now Playing' menu.
- Search for tracks: Find specific songs.
- Bulk management and sorting: Organize music files.
- Click and play: Start playback of a selected item.
- Shortcuts Menu: Swipe left to access management options.
- Playback Controls: Play/Pause, Next, Previous.
- Function Icons: EQ, Play mode, Add to list, Add to Favorites.
Gestures are supported: Swipe up from the lower left to return to the previous menu; swipe up from the lower right to return to the home menu.
2. Quickly Locate All Music
When the music list is ordered alphabetically (A-Z), slide your finger over the alphabet list on the right to quickly jump to songs starting with a selected letter.
3. Gestures
Swipe your finger from right to left over a list item to reveal a shortcuts menu, then tap icons to perform operations.
4. Function Menu
Tap the shortcuts icon for the function menu to perform actions like:
- Sort Order: By added time, first letter, or filename.
- Bulk Management: Batched playback, add to favorites, add to playlist, or delete.
5. Now Playing Screen
The 'Now Playing' screen offers controls and gestures:
- Tap Buttons: Return, Search, Equalizer, Play mode, Add to playlist, Add to Favorites, More functions, Previous track, Play/Pause, Next track.
- Gesture Operations: Click the album cover to switch between displaying album art, lyrics, or ID3 info. Slide in from the left edge to view the current playlist. Scroll the volume knob or tap the volume bar to adjust volume. Tap the progress bar to fast forward or rewind.
6. Tap Buttons (on Playing Screen)
- Return: Go back to the original path.
- Search: Open a full-screen search pane for tracks, albums, or artists.
- Equalizer: Access equalizer settings.
- Play mode: Choose between Play All once, Loop Single, Shuffle, and Loop All.
- Add to playlist: Add the current song to a playlist.
- Add to Favorites: Add the current track to the Favorites playlist.
- More functions: View track info or delete the track.
- Previous track.
- Play / Pause: Play or pause the current track.
- Next track.
7. Gesture Operations (on Playing Screen)
Switch displaying information: Click the middle of the album cover to toggle between album cover, lyrics, and ID3 info.
View playlist: Slide in from the left edge to view the current song queue; tap a song to jump to it.
Adjust volume: Scroll the volume knob to show a full-screen volume pane. This pane disappears after 2 seconds of inactivity or when the 'Back' button is pressed.
Slide to fast forward/rewind: Tap anywhere on the progress bar below the album cover to fast forward or rewind playback. While viewing lyrics, you can adjust playback progress, timeline, or font size by sliding over the lyrics.
8. EQ (Equalizer)
FiiO Music includes a graphic equalizer. You can choose genre presets or independently adjust ten frequency bands from 20 to 20kHz between -6 dB and +6 dB.
- Choose preset EQ: Swipe up to show the full list of EQ presets and tap to switch.
- Customize EQ: Tap the upper right button to activate customization. Choose a genre preset (e.g., 'User Defined'), drag vertical sliders to adjust frequency levels, and swipe sliders left/right for low/high frequencies. Press the 'Back' button to save changes.
- Reset EQ: Tap the reset button in the upper right corner to revert to the genre default. Note: A factory reset will also reset all EQ settings.
M7 FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
1. Is the M7 running with Android? How can I navigate to previous page when there is no virtual keys on the screen?
A: The M7 runs a customized Android 7.0 system. Use the '<' return button in the upper left to navigate back. Gestures are also supported: swipe up from the bottom-left to return to the previous menu, and swipe up from the bottom-right to return to the home menu.
2. How can I access the micro SD card after connecting the M7 to the computer?
A: The M7 uses the MTP protocol. Install the 'FiiO MTP Driver' from the M7's storage. For Windows, copy and install 'SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_1590.exe' from the 'Windows' folder. For Mac, install the driver from the 'Mac\OS MTP Client' folder. After installation, the M7's storage or SD card should be accessible.
3. What kind of Bluetooth codec does the M7 support? Why there's no change after changing the codec setting?
A: The M7 supports LDAC, aptX-HD, aptX, and SBC codecs. Change the default codec in Settings > Audio > Wireless playback quality. The setting takes effect only after reconnecting the Bluetooth device. If headphones fail to connect, ensure they are in pairing mode. Then, turn on Bluetooth on the M7 and search for the headphone.
4. What should I do if the system crashes or freezes?
A: Hold the power and play buttons for about 10 seconds to force a reboot. If this does not work, contact FiiO support via email at support@fiio.com.
5. How to set the player to prevent unintentional button press while in lockscreen?
A: Go to Settings > Key-lock settings > Custom lockscreen settings to configure which buttons are active when the screen is off.
6. Why can't I search any stations using the FM Radio?
A: Headphones act as the antenna for the FM radio. Ensure they are correctly inserted. Go to Settings > FM Radio and select the correct region. If issues persist, try exiting and re-entering FM radio, or rebooting the M7.
7. Does the M7 support lyrics display?
A: Yes. The .lrc lyrics file must have the same name as the track file and be in the same folder. While in the 'Now Playing' menu, swipe right to left on the album art to display lyrics.
8. How to adjust the volume?
A: Scroll the side volume knob. When the volume bar appears, tap it to enter the volume adjustment menu. Slide your finger within the volume circle for fast adjustment.
9. How to find the Play mode, EQ and Add to favorites functions?
A: In the 'Now Playing' menu, tap the album art display area to see the corresponding function icons.
10. Can I install any third-party apps on the M7?
A: The M7 runs a customized system and does not support third-party app installation.
11. How to upgrade the M7?
A: a) Download the firmware file from the FiiO website and copy it to the micro SD card (do not unzip). b) Open the 'Technical Support' app on the M7, click 'Firmware Update', and select the firmware file to upgrade.
12. How to set the date and time on the M7?
A: From the desktop, go to Settings > General > Date & time.
13. Does M7 support USB audio out?
A: Yes, it guarantees stable connection with FiiO Q1 Mark II, Q5, or Chord Mojo (requires FiiO's Type C to Micro USB cable, CL06).
14. Why I cannot connect my Bluetooth headphone to the M7?
A: For first-time connection, ensure the Bluetooth headphone is in pairing mode. Then, turn on Bluetooth on the M7 and search for the headphone to connect.
