Thank you for purchasing FiiO's high resolution lossless music player M6. To let you better utilize the M6 to enjoy high-quality music, we have prepared this complete user manual. We hope this manual will help you get to know the M6 and unleash its full potential.
Introduction
The M6 is a high fidelity, high resolution digital audio player, using Samsung 14nm Exynos 7270, Dual AK4490EN DACs, 2GB native memory, and support external Micro SD Card storage (512GB), 480* 800 LG IPS screen, supporting multi-touch. The Type C interface supports charging, file transfer, USB Audio output; Bluetooth 4.2 supports SBC/ aptX/ aptX-HD/ LDAC/HWA. With a deeply-customized Android, the system runs at a fast and smooth speed, with simple operation; every interface is methodical and crisp. Built-in professional custom music player "FiiO Music", and pre-install Cloud Music, MOOV, Tidal, KKBOX for more joy.
Buttons and Ports
1. Buttons and ports introduced
The FiiO M6 features a sleek, rectangular design. The top edge houses the 3.5mm Headphone out / Line out port, the Power/Lockscreen button, and an RGB indicator light. The left side has the Play/Pause button, Volume Up button, and Volume Down button. The bottom edge features the USB transfer/Charging port. The right side includes the Micro SD card slot.
2. Buttons and ports explained
- Touchscreen: A 16 million color, 480x800 pixel display for user interface interaction.
- Power / Lock: Hold for 2s to turn on when off. Hold when on to display power off/reboot menu. Press briefly to turn the screen on/off. Hold for 10 seconds to reboot.
- Volume +/- button: Press briefly to change volume by one increment. Hold down to continuously adjust volume or skip tracks when the screen is off.
- Play / Pause: Press to pause music playback or resume playback.
- Micro SD card slot: Supports external storage up to 512GB.
- Indicator light: Red light during boot, OFF when working, red when charging, turns off when the device is powered off.
- Type C USB data/charging port: Used for charging, data transfer, and USB Audio output. A DC5V 2A adapter is recommended for a full charge in 2 hours.
- 3.5mm PO/LO: Shared Phone/line output port. Switchable via Settings > Audio > Select output.
- In-line remote control: Supports CTIA-spec headsets for volume control (click for increment, hold for continuous), Play/Pause (single press), Next track (double-click), and Previous track (triple-click).
Main Menu and Drop-down Menu Interface
The device features a main menu displaying various applications like FiiO Music, File Management, Gallery, Settings, Technical Support, KKBOX, TIDAL, and NetEase Music. A drop-down menu provides quick access to system functions such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Audio settings, Key-lock Settings, General settings, and Factory data reset. It also includes quick toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EQ, Storage, Filter Settings, and AirPlay.
Settings Interface
1. WiFi
The M6 can connect to the internet or other network resources. To connect to a WiFi network:
- Tap 'WLAN' in the settings.
- Switch the WiFi toggle to 'ON'. The device will automatically scan for available connections.
- Tap the desired WiFi network name and enter the password if prompted.
2. Bluetooth Function
The M6 supports various Bluetooth formats, including high-resolution ones like aptX-HD, LDAC, and HWA. It can function as both a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver.
Bluetooth Transmitter
To pair with new Bluetooth devices (e.g., earphones, speakers):
- Navigate to Bluetooth settings.
- Turn Bluetooth ON if it is off.
- Tap "SEARCH FOR DEVICES" to find nearby devices.
- Tap the device name to pair. Paired devices appear under "PAIRED DEVICES".
Before connecting, select the desired Bluetooth audio codec in Settings > Audio > Wireless Playback quality.
Bluetooth Receiver
To use the M6 as a Bluetooth receiver (e.g., for a mobile phone), enable the "Bluetooth decoding amp mode" in Bluetooth settings. The Bluetooth will turn off and then on again, entering receive mode. This mode currently supports SBC and LDAC, and may require a firmware update.
3. Audio
Select Output
Switch the audio output between PO (Headphone output) and LO (Line out) in the Audio settings.
Digital Filter Mode
Choose from three filter modes: Fast Roll-Off Filter, Slow Roll-Off Filter, or Minimum Phase.
Wireless Playback Quality
Select your preferred Bluetooth audio codec (e.g., LDAC, aptX-HD, aptX, SBC) when connecting to compatible receivers.
Balance
Adjust the balance between the left and right audio channels. Settings range from L10 (left bias) to R10 (right bias), with 0 being center, offering 21 adjustment levels.
In-line Remote
Enable or disable the response to in-line remotes on connected headsets.
USB DAC
Connect the M6 to a computer via USB cable and check "USB DAC" in settings. For Windows users, a driver installation may be required from https://www.fiio.com/Driver_Download. MAC users do not need a DAC driver.
AirPlay
To use AirPlay:
- Ensure your iPhone (or other AirPlay transmitter) and the FiiO M6 are on the same wireless LAN.
- Open the pull-down menu on the FiiO Music player and enable the AirPlay icon.
- On your iPhone, open the control center, expand playback controls, and select "FiiO Music Player".
- You can now enjoy music from your iPhone through the FiiO Music player.
4. Key-lock Settings
Customize which buttons or the knob remain active when the screen is off.
5. General
The General settings menu includes options for About device, Power-off timers, Apps, Brightness level, Wallpaper, Sleep, Date & time, Language & Input, and Screen lock.
About Device
View device information such as Device name (FiiO M6), Kernel version, Build number, and Bluetooth address.
Power-off Timer
Configure "Sleep" and "Idle power off" modes. Sleep mode powers off the device automatically after a set inactivity period (0-120 minutes). Idle power off powers off the device after a set period with no operation (0-50 minutes).
Apps
Manage installed applications, including disabling or force stopping them. You can also check memory and RAM usage.
Brightness Level
Adjust the screen brightness according to your environment.
Sleep
Set the inactivity time (no button presses, screen touches, or playback) after which the M6 will enter sleep mode to conserve power. A short press of the Power button wakes the device.
Language Setting
To change the device language:
- Navigate to Settings > General > Language & input > Languages.
- Press "Add a language".
- Select the desired language.
- Drag the selected language to the top of the list using the "=" icon to set it as primary.
Factory Data Reset
Performing a "Factory data reset" will erase all user data and restore the device to its original default settings. Backup important data beforehand.
Firmware Update
Update the device firmware via OTA (Online) or Local package. OTA updates require a stable WiFi connection. For local updates, download the firmware file (e.g., "M6-ota-1.0.1.zip") from the FiiO website, copy it to the Micro SD card (do not unzip), then navigate to Technical Support > Firmware Update > Local upgrade, select the file, and confirm. The device will reboot to complete the update.
Status Bar
The status bar at the top of the screen displays current status indicators:
- 1: Volume icon (?)
- 2: Current volume
- 3: Bluetooth status (?)
- 4: Bluetooth codec format
- 5: Current time (?)
- 6: PO/LO plug status
- 7: Micro SD card inserted (?️)
- 8: Wi-Fi connected (?)
- 9: Remaining battery percentage (?)

FiiO Music App
The M6 comes with the FiiO Music app, a highly customized music player designed to leverage the device's audio hardware. Upon first launch, an introductory guide appears.
1. APP Homepage
The FiiO Music app homepage displays various functions:
- Return to home menu: Access the main menu.
- Click album art: Enter the Now Playing menu.
- App settings: Access app configurations.
- Search for tracks: Find music by title, artist, or album.
- Bulk management and sorting: Organize music files.
- Playback controls: Play, pause, skip tracks.
- Navigation: Swipe left for shortcuts, access playlists, genre, EQ, etc.
2. Quickly Locate All Music
When lists are ordered alphabetically, use the alphabet index on the right side of the screen to quickly jump to specific sections.
3. Gestures
Slide your finger from right to left over a list item to reveal a shortcut menu for operations.
4. Function Menu
Tap the function menu icon to access sorting options (by added time, first letter, filename) and bulk management features (batch playback, add to favorites/playlist, batch delete).
5. Now Playing
The Now Playing screen supports various taps and gestures for music control:
- Tap buttons: Control playback (Return ↩️, Search ?, EQ ?️, Play mode, Add to playlist ➕, Add to Favorites ⭐, More functions, Previous ⏮️, Play/Pause ▶️/⏸️, Next ⏭️).
- Gesture operations: Switch display information (album cover, lyrics, ID3 info) by clicking the album cover. View the playlist by sliding from the left edge. Adjust volume using the volume knob. Fast forward or rewind by tapping the progress bar. Lyrics display allows adjusting playback progress, timeline, or font size.
8. EQ
The FiiO Music app includes a graphic equalizer. Choose from genre presets or customize ten frequency bands from 20Hz to 20kHz with adjustments from -6 to +6 dB.
- Choose preset EQ: Swipe up to see presets and tap an icon to select.
- Customize EQ: Activate the equalizer, select a genre preset (e.g., "User Defined"), adjust sliders for frequency bands, and save changes by pressing the Back button.
- Reset EQ: Tap the reset button to revert to the genre's default EQ settings. Note: A factory reset will reset all EQ settings.
