1. Introduction
This document provides a guideline for operating and configuring the Castles S1P2 terminal. The scope includes setting up the terminal, basic operation, application lifecycle, and some advanced features.
Regulatory Instructions for Usage
- Before using the terminal, please check if it has been disassembled, modified, or shows any abnormal situation. If so, please do not use it.
- Please stay away from strong electromagnetic waves. Examples include microwave ovens, magnets, shoplifting prevention devices, high-voltage wires, automatic doors, and communication antennas.
- Condensation can occur when moving from a cold place to a warm place. If condensation occurs, do not use the unit until any visible water droplets have evaporated.
- Static electricity may occur in some places (e.g., when using a carpet).
- Please do not leave the terminal in direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Please operate the unit carefully as it is a precision instrument. Do not apply impact, drop, or place heavy objects on top of the unit.
- Do not attach dust, oil, or other substances to any part of the terminal. Please also avoid scratching the unit.
2. Hardware Setup
2.1. Parts of the Terminal
Front View
The front of the Castles S1P2 POS terminal features:
- 1. Front camera: For capturing images or scanning.
- 2. LCD display: The main screen for user interaction.
- 3. Keypad: Numeric keypad for inputting numbers and function keys.
- 4. Contactless Card Landing Zone: Area for tapping contactless payment cards.
- 5. Magnetic Stripe Reader: Slot for swiping credit/debit cards with magnetic stripes.
- 6. Smart Card Reader: Slot for inserting chip-enabled smart cards.
Rear View
The rear of the Castles S1P2 POS terminal features:
- 7. Product Label: Contains identification and regulatory information.
- 8. Back Cover: Provides access to internal components like SIM and SAM card slots.
- 9. USB Type-C Port: For charging and data transfer.
- 10. GSM SIM Card Slots (1-2): Slots for inserting one or two SIM cards for cellular connectivity.
- 11. SAM Slot 1: Slot for a Secure Access Module (SAM) card, often used for enhanced security or specific payment applications.
2.2. Insert GSM SIM Card
Follow these steps to insert a GSM SIM card:
- Remove the back cover of the terminal.
- Insert the SIM card into the desired slot. The slots are typically labeled: Bottom slot for SIM 1, Upper slot for SIM 2.
- Reverse the operation of step 1 to install the back cover.
2.3. Insert SAM Card
Follow these steps to insert a SAM card:
- Remove the back cover of the terminal.
- Insert the SAM card into the designated SAM slot.
- Reverse the operation of step 1 to install the back cover.
3. Appendix
3.1. FCC (Federal Communication Commission)
Interference Statement: This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by:
- Reorienting or relocating the receiving antenna.
- Increasing the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connecting the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consulting the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for assistance.
FCC Caution: Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate this equipment. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
Radiation Exposure Statement: This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and your body.
Note: The country code selection is for non-US models only and is not available to all US models. Per FCC regulation, all Wi-Fi products marketed in the US must be fixed to US operation channels only.
3.2. IC (Industry Canada)
Industry Canada Statement: This device complies with ISED's licence-exempt RSSs. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Warning: The device is restricted to indoor use only when operating in the 5150 to 5250 MHz frequency range.

3.3. UL (Underwriters Laboratories)
Warning: Power cord shall be connected to a socket-outlet with an earthing connection.
Warning: This product is intended to be supplied by a Listed Power Adapter "L.P.S." (or "Limited Power Source") and is rated at 5 Vdc, 2 A, Tma = 50 degrees C.
Warning: The equipment is only suitable for wall mounting at a height of ≤ 2m.
