These two models, classified as mid-range within the entire Roomba lineup, feature the industry's first DualClean™™ Mop Pads, which are large, round mop pads that significantly upgrade the mopping function. They are also equipped with multi-functional charging stations, all while focusing on cost performance.
The higher-end model, "Roomba® Plus 505 Combo Robot + AutoWash™ Charging Station," further enhances mopping with the introduction of the "PerfectEdge®" technology. This innovative feature allows the mop pad to extend towards walls during wet cleaning, ensuring a thorough clean even in corners. This marks a significant advancement in wet cleaning capabilities.
The charging station is designed for complete automation, handling pad washing, warm air drying, self-cleaning cycles, automatic water refilling, and automatic dirt disposal. Combined with rapid mapping and smooth navigation, the robot intelligently recognizes objects in the room and instantly determines which items to avoid, reflecting iRobot's commitment to fully automated cleaning.

The DualClean Mop Pads, made of microfiber, rotate at high speed to deliver a satisfying finish. With "Smart Scrub" mode, the robot mimics the back-and-forth scrubbing motion of manual mopping for a deeper clean. The robot can also detect carpets and automatically lift the mop pad by 10mm to prevent wetting them during vacuuming, ensuring a dry clean on carpets. This feature effectively tackles various messes, including dirt on floors and pet-related messes, making it a convenient solution for busy families.
The new ClearView LiDAR sensor quickly maps the home's layout, expanding the cleaning area. It navigates efficiently, even in dark environments, avoiding obstacles for precise cleaning. The iRobot Home app allows users to schedule cleanings for specific areas, like high-traffic zones or around furniture. Cleaning can be initiated by tapping the app, pressing a button on the robot, or using voice commands with a compatible voice assistant.
The AutoWash Charging Station simplifies robot maintenance by automatically washing and drying the mop pads, refilling the water tank, and emptying the dustbin. It can store up to 75 days of debris in a filter-equipped bag. The robot regularly returns to the station to clean its mop pads, ensuring they remain hygienic. Upon completion of cleaning, the station washes the pads and dries them with warm air. The self-cleaning cycle also prevents debris buildup within the station itself, making it an ideal choice for those who want a clean home without the time commitment for maintenance.
The Roomba Plus 505 Combo features "PerfectEdge®" technology, allowing the mop pad to extend for thorough edge cleaning. It also incorporates advanced Dirt Detect™™ technology to identify and clean even minor messes with repeated passes.
The combination of ClearView Pro LiDAR and PrecisionVision AI Technology enables precise navigation and object recognition. This allows the robot to avoid obstacles such as cords, shoes, and pet waste (specifically solid dog or cat feces) with high accuracy. For optimal performance, the robot requires a connection to the iRobot Home app with obstacle detection enabled. Avoidance capabilities may be limited in extremely dark rooms or if the front camera sensor is obstructed. Obstacle avoidance may not function during initial mapping runs, so it's recommended to ensure floors are clear of cords and pet waste during this phase.
