Setup Guide

Package Content

The package includes the following items:

The RM Pro device features indicator lights: a Yellow LED and a Wi-Fi LED. It also has a Micro USB port for power and a Reset button.

Plug in your RM Pro

Connect the RM Pro's power supply using the AC/DC adapter and USB cable to a power socket. Ensure the RM Pro is placed within Wi-Fi coverage. When plugged in, the blue indicator light should flash quickly. If the Wi-Fi LED does not flash rapidly (approximately 5-6 times per second), press and hold the Reset button until it does.

Pairing the RM Pro with your smartphone

Ensure your smartphone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the RM Pro. Open the 'e-Control' app, enter your Wi-Fi password, and tap 'Configure'. If the automatic connection fails, try the AP mode by tapping 'AP mode' in the top right corner of the screen.

Upon successful connection, the Wi-Fi LED on the RM Pro will turn off, and the RM Pro will appear in the app's device list.

How to add a remote device

To add a remote control to the 'e-Control' app:

  1. From the Home page, tap the '+' icon in the top right corner.
  2. Select 'Add remote' and choose the RM Pro device.
  3. There are three primary ways to add and configure a remote:
    1. Search for the device model: Enter the device's brand and model number to find a pre-configured remote.
    2. Choose device type: Select the category (e.g., Air Conditioner, TV) and learn the remote's functions.
    3. Create custom remote: Design your own remote control skin.

Diagram Description: Illustrates the steps for adding a remote. It shows selecting 'Add remote' from a menu, viewing the 'RM list', and then the 'Add remote' screen with a search bar and a list of common device templates.

Using pre-configured remote templates

The 'e-Control' app includes over 80,000 remote control templates for popular devices. You can find your appliance by searching its name and model number in the search bar.

Diagram Description: Shows a search result screen for 'Samsung TV' with various models listed, and a virtual remote control interface for a Samsung TV.

Learning remote controls (e.g., Air Conditioner)

The RM Pro can learn any device's remote control signals. To add a remote, select the device type (e.g., 'Air Conditioner') and the RM Pro will enter learning mode.

Note: The device must operate on 433MHz, 38KHz Infrared, or 315MHz frequencies. Some regions may have regulations affecting 315MHz compatibility.

Steps to learn:

  1. Point the original remote control at the RM Pro.
  2. Press a button on the original remote (e.g., 'On/Off' for an air conditioner).
  3. The app will attempt to learn the signal. Once learned, the RM Pro will find the appropriate control skin.
  4. Diagram Description: Shows the 'Add remote' screen with device templates. A pop-up indicates 'Waiting for button learning...'. Another screen displays a virtual remote control interface for an Air Conditioner with controls for temperature, fan speed, and mode.

Creating a User-Defined Remote

For devices not found in the templates, you can create a custom remote skin:

  1. Select the 'User-Defined' option.
  2. Choose 'Sort in random' or 'Sort in order' to arrange buttons.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to name the remote, assign icons, take pictures, or upload images for buttons.
  4. Learn individual button signals by pointing the original remote at the RM Pro and pressing the desired button.

Diagram Description: Illustrates the process of creating a custom remote. It shows selecting 'User-Defined', choosing a layout, naming the remote, and learning button signals.

Set Scenes

Create custom scenes to automate multiple actions with a single command. For example, a 'Wake-up' scene could automatically open motorized curtains, turn on lights, or start a radio.

To create a scene:

  1. Navigate to the 'Scenes' section.
  2. Tap the '+' icon to add actions.
  3. Configure each action (e.g., 'Light On', 'TV On' with a duration).
  4. Save the scene. Once set, activate it from the home page to execute all configured actions automatically.

Diagram Description: Shows the app's 'Control' screen, an 'Edit scene' screen with a '+' button to add actions, and another 'Edit scene' screen with example actions like 'Light On' and 'TV On'.

Share the settings

You can share your configured settings with family members:

  1. Swipe left from the Home page to access the menu.
  2. Select 'Share'.
  3. Choose an option: 'Share to other phones in WLAN', 'Import from shared phone in WLAN', or 'Cloud share'.

This allows others to enjoy the smart home features and simplifies setup.

Setup Troubleshooting

Refer to the following for common issues:

Wi-Fi light is flashing quickly

Indicates the RM Pro is in its original factory state and ready for configuration.

Wi-Fi light is flashing slowly

If the Wi-Fi light flashes slowly (4 flashes, 1-second pause, repeats), the RM Pro is waiting for configuration. Press the '+' icon and select 'Add device' in the app.

Wi-Fi light is flashing very slowly

If the Wi-Fi light flashes once every 3 seconds, the RM Pro has not connected to the Wi-Fi. Check your Wi-Fi network status.

Wi-Fi light is flashing slowly and continuously

If the Wi-Fi light flashes continuously (1 flash per second), the configuration has failed. Reset the RM Pro and try configuring it again.

How to protect my device and prevent others finding it?

Connect only to your trusted home Wi-Fi router. You can then lock your device from the 'Device Info' screen to prevent unauthorized control by others on the network.
