Blood Pressure Classification (WHO Standards)

The following graph provides a guide to blood pressure classifications:

Systolic (mmHg) Diastolic (mmHg) Classification
<120 <80 Optimal
120-129 80-84 Normal
130-139 85-89 High-Normal
140-159 90-99 Grade 1 Hypertension (mild)
160-179 100-109 Grade 2 Hypertension (moderate)
≥180 ≥110 Grade 3 Hypertension (severe)

The graph is a guide and not an exact measurement. The device is intended for adult use only.

Intended Use

This device is a non-invasive blood pressure monitor using the oscillometric method. It automatically measures systolic blood pressure (SYS), diastolic blood pressure (DIA), and pulse rate. It is intended for personal health monitoring at home under physician guidance and is not a diagnostic device. It is not intended for neonates, infants, or for automatic cycling measurements.

Measure your blood pressure at the same time each day.

Blood pressure changes constantly. Data gathered over a long period is more significant. Measure daily, ideally at the same time each day.

Identification of Parts

Main Unit

The main unit features a display, START/STOP switch, MEMORY switch, and an air hose socket.

Cuff

The cuff includes an air hose, blue marker, and metal hoop for attachment.

Display

The display shows systolic and diastolic blood pressure, pulse rate, and various indicators:

Loading the Batteries

  1. Open the battery compartment cover by pressing the hook and pulling the cover.
  2. Insert four AA batteries, observing the positive (⊕) and negative (⊖) terminal markings.
  3. Close the battery cover by fitting the lugs into the recesses and securing the hook.

Removing the Batteries

Measuring Your Blood Pressure

Attaching the Cuff

  1. Unroll the cuff and thread the end through the metal hoop, ensuring the hook-and-loop fastener side is outward.
  2. Wrap the cuff around your bare arm (or over light underwear) with the blue marker towards the palm side.
  3. Position the cuff so the blue marker is centered on your arm, and the cuff hem is 1-2 cm (standard) or 2-3 cm (large) above your elbow. Remove heavy clothing.
  4. Secure the cuff snugly with the hook-and-loop fastener. The fit is correct if a finger can slide between the cuff and arm.
  5. Place your arm on a table, ensuring the cuff is level with your heart. Relax your arm with your palm facing upward.

Starting the Measurement

  1. Plug the air hose connector firmly into the air hose socket on the main unit.
  2. Press the START/STOP switch (blue button).
  3. The monitor will perform an initial display check, then automatically pressurize the cuff.
  4. Measurement begins automatically after pressurization. The monitor may repressurize if insufficient pressure is detected.
  5. A pulse icon (❤️) blinks with each pulse detection.
  6. Upon completion, the cuff deflates, and results (systolic/diastolic pressure, pulse) are displayed alternately. Measurements are stored automatically if no errors occur.

Indicators During Measurement

Finishing Measurement

Manual Pressurization

For expected systolic pressures over 200 mmHg, use manual pressurization. Press and hold the "START/STOP" switch until the desired pressure (approx. 40 mmHg above expected systolic) is reached, then release. The upper limit is 280 mmHg.

Automatic Power Off Feature

The monitor automatically turns off after 3 minutes of inactivity if the "START/STOP" switch is not pressed.

Tips for Obtaining Accurate Measurements

Measure in the same posture at the same time daily for consistent results, as blood pressure varies with posture, time of day, and other factors.

Taking measurements while sitting

Place your arm on a table, forearm extended, cuff level with your heart. Keep your hand open, palm up, fingers relaxed. Remain still and do not talk during measurement.

Measurement in a reclining posture

Lie facing upwards, arm extended, palm up, fingers relaxed. Relax your body and arm. Do not move or talk during measurement.

Using the Right Arm

Blood pressure may differ between arms by up to 10 mmHg. Measure on the same arm each day for consistency.

Calling Up the Data Stored in Memory

The monitor can store up to 90 measurement results. Data is stored automatically if no errors occur during measurement.

How to Call Up the Data

  1. Press the "MEMORY" switch (M).
  2. The display may show "3A" and the average value (if 2 or more measurements are stored).
  3. Press the "MEMORY" switch again to view the latest stored measurement (memory number "1").
  4. Subsequent presses of the "MEMORY" switch will display earlier measurements (memory number "2", "3", etc.).
  5. Data is numbered sequentially, with "1" being the most recent.
  6. Pressing and holding the "MEMORY" switch allows fast-forwarding through the data numbers.
  7. To erase all data, remove the batteries.

Key to Display Icons

Icon Displayed Condition/Cause
[Body Movement Icon] See page 15.
[Irregular Heartbeat Icon] See page 15.

About "Blood Pressure"

What is blood pressure?

Blood pressure is the force of circulating blood against artery walls. It's measured as systolic pressure (when the heart pumps) and diastolic pressure (when the heart rests between beats).

Your blood pressure changes all the time.

Blood pressure varies based on age, gender, biorhythms, posture, activity, stress, and temperature. Healthy individuals experience daily fluctuations.

Example of blood pressure variations within a day:

Measurements taken at five-minute intervals throughout a day show significant variations, influenced by daily activities and rest periods.

Benefit of Measuring Blood Pressure at Home

Home measurements provide reliable data in a stable, relaxed condition. Physicians value this data. Measure at the same time daily and record variations. Always consult your physician for interpretation and treatment.

Before Requesting Repairs or Testing

Problem Checks Response
Display stays blank when pressing "START/STOP". Check batteries are dead. Replace all batteries with new ones.
Check battery orientation (⊕ and ⊖). Load batteries in the correct direction.
No measurements can be taken. Check if measurement icon is displayed. Attach the cuff properly.
Check cuff attachment.
Did you stay calm during measurement? Measure again, remaining still.
Note: Measurement may not be possible with extremely weak pulse or cardiac arrhythmia.
Readings are abnormally high or low compared to hospital measurements. See page 22 for guidance.
Other phenomena Remove and replace batteries.
